You're not wrong, but haven't they announced Halloween 3 a couple of different times now and it's never happened? Their found footage Friday the 13th "reboot" sequel too... or was that some studio other than PD?

it's over folks. They've used up all the goodwill. It's over.
The milk is completely sour. The TMNT brand is going to whither and die. The next gen doesn't give a **** about TMNT. Go back to your fan fics and fan art. Even Nick might not renew a sixth season. IDW has a little gas, the collectors market has some 4rth quarter steam... but it's last call at the bar. But it's done. Party's over. G'night. |

Kids watching the Nick cartoon are the next gen of TMNT fans, not this movie.

The kids watching the nick toon are the ones seeing these movies. This movie series and the nick cartoon are what these kids are growing up on, and what they'll look back on. Knowing my generation, and the way these kids are being brought up, I think tmnt is dead and if we had any chance of some kind of mirage style movie adaptation, it was now. And the chance was blown.

It's now in reboot territory under Blumhouse with John Carpenter attached to produce. Still looking for a director, couple names have been passed around but nothing official. The Friday the 13th reboot is probably perpetually in limbo, as it went from might be found footage to what they're saying now is a period piece set in the 80s. |

Did the rest of us get this dialogue? I don't recall it, nor Krang saying much to them at all.

Eh see I disagree. I could take or leave the found footage thing(I don't hate found footage itself, just a lot of them are bad, especially since Paranormal Activity) but that's not on the table anymore.
I think Friday the 13th is a series that really should kinda stay in the 80s. It's a very of its time series. The, for lack of a better term, 80s aesthetic goes really well with Friday the 13th. Also, I really don't want cell phones and SIRI and all that crap in there. You set it mid-1980s, don't go over the top with it, and it'd look just fine. Maybe even late 80s-early 90s would be fine. That's the time period my pitch for a Friday the 13th movie takes place in. |

But I do think their plan is to go for the hard reboot, much like the 2009 movie. Which was serviceable(at best) as a Friday the 13th movie. Sterile as it was. And setting it in the 80s, and not in the modern era, I think is a step in the right direction. It offers a different look and visual vibe that we haven't seen in a F13 movie in a long time. And it'll potentially be at least interesting to look at. If they can mange to bring back the creepiness and sense of dread of Part 3 or Part 6, I'll be pretty happy. Just glad they're not going the "origin story" route that was rumored for a bit before they clarified. I have a feeling it's not going to work out well for Leatherface, since I super don't care about his upbringing. I care about chainsaw massacres. Spoiler:

See, I don't think there's really much coming back from that. I know that today's audience maybe hasn't been exposed to those F13 movies, but there's still a very prevalent idea of what Jason "is" iconically that's endured... and that's as this juggernaut guy with a hockey mask that lurks around Crystal Lake killing campers in unique ways. The "reboot" movie was a big back-to-basics thing, albeit in the present day... and apparently that didn't quite translate into box office dollars enough to proceed with any more. I'm not sure that just setting the clock back 3 decades and throwing in 80s references will make much difference. Or a found footage gimmick, as much as I wouldn't mind seeing that personally. Though to be fair, I'm not sure what would be a great F13 sequel/reimagining/requel/prequel. Just a new crop of campers in 2016 and Jason taking them out would be pretty been-there, done-that. I don't know that I need or want to see a prequel with Jason's mom doing Jason's mom stuff. I don't know that anyone wants to see a movie explaining the worm-heart thing from Jason Goes to Hell, though there's probably a Halloween 6-level craptastic movie in doing so. I don't really think a drastic reimagining of Jason with an origin story making him super sympathetic is right either. I dunno. I kind of just want to see him get into more splashy crossover movies at this point. Let's see him f*ck with the Chuck, or unlock the Lament Configuration, or tangle with Leatherface (arguably a better matched fight than with Freddy), or, like, just show up on Ash vs. Evil Dead Season 3 or something. They've pretty much covered all other roads, even the future and outer space.

^That was kinda neat. 7,8,9 are all terrible, and Jason X is a straight up joke.
So I was trying to go to the movies to see Tmnt 2 with a friend of mine along with some jack and coke (Im not watching it sober) and there is only one Theater in all of Chicago showing it only at 10:30 am or 4:10 pm. So we just pregamed and hit the bars instead. Im sure it provided a better experience than OOTS could have.

I was always partial to the simple idea of 'Having Jason in the snow killing people aka Camp Crystal Lake in the Winter Time'.
Or have Jason actually in the city, instead of misleading people ala Jason Takes Manhattan... have it star some likable grown-ups as cops, take some notes from Maniac Cop 2, and make it an action/horror film with the gore that was in the Hatchet movies (the only good things about those flicks). |

That's not a bad idea. Camp Crystal Lake snowed in. A frozen lake. I'm not sure that's enough in and of itself, but it's a start and it's fresh. Maybe half that, half a trek to the city or a suburb or a neighboring Native American reservation. Or something. I have no idea.
