*Back at the lair, Splinter meditated, keeping a watchful eye of his children. Knowing what they had underwent, he rose and went to the infirmary, preparing everything, and hoping that it would not be too late for Machias.*

*Azure watches the sunset, awestruck by its beauty. Still, he was worried about the others...seeing Machias in her condition, and the tired expressions everyone else bore, he couldn't help but wonder what he had missed out on. A bit of pain from his shoulder brought his thoughts back to the present. He glanced at the location of the pain, and saw a rather ugly gash. He had small cuts everywhere else that would heal easily, but that gash would need stitches. He mutters under his breath, knowing that Sensei would be the one to stitch him up when they return...and as much as he likes Splinter, Sensei wasn't very gentle when it came to stitches*
Man...whatta rush....
*continues to watch the sun set*

*they soon reached the caves. Don took care of the blimp, despite Azure's denial of pain, and everyone headed inside. Splinter saw them approaching, and felt his heart skip and sink when he saw Machias.*

*Splinter dismissed Mike and Leo, and he and don tended to Machias's many wounds. They first worked on the gunshot wound. It took much time, but they managed to remove it. This girl has the most incredible luck at times. The bullet had been only an inch away from a major artery.
Once they cleaned and bandaged the wound, Splinter dismissed Don, who himself was aching from the tension of working to get the bullet out of the wound. Splinter worked on the other wounds, and (realizing she was wearing nothig) put a blanket on her. Once he was sure she was stable, he came out to the hall, where everyone was waiting.*

*Don gives Azure an impatient look*
Don: You can't hide the fact that you're in pain, lil' bro. Lemme see...
*With much protesting from Azure, Don removes his hand and sees the deep gash. Don whistles*
Don: Dude, you're gonna need stitches. Why are you trying to hide it?
Because! You guys should be focusing on Machias first! This *points to his shoulder* is a mere paper cut compared to her injuries. Go help her!
*Azure pushes Don towards the infirmary*
Don: Master Splinter and I already took care of her, so now it's your turn...I'll need some supplies, so hang tight.
*Don walks away, but turns back and calls over his shoulder*
Don: And thank you. You're a brave one, lil' bro. And smart, for remembering everything I taught you about the Turtle Blimp.
No prob, Don-San. Bravery and smarts run in this family! Now are you gonna stitch me up or what?
*Donatello gives a quick chuckle before running towards the infirmary*

He knew that this would be a very difficult time for her, but with everyone there to support her, he knew things would get better. he approached everyone and sat down in his chair, their attention turning to him worriedly.*

*Don comes back and starts stitching Azure's wound. Azure closes his eyes and winces in pain every now and then, but everyone else is quiet as they look at Splinter expectedly*

Sp: *sigh* She is stable now. `the bullet was removed, many thanks to Donatello.

*Donatello blushes slightly while he continues to crochet Azure's arm back together.*

Sp: Machias is going to be very weak for some time. The side she was shot on was not only the one she uses the most, but as of right now, she is extremely fortunate to be alive.
*Splinter saw Mike flinch, and his heart went out to his son and daughter.*
I fear her physical problems are only the beginning however.

Mike: What do you mean? we saved her from the inGen people.

Sp: Yes, but notbefore many hings happened to her. I am unsure that I should even be saying this to you all. Machias is physically strong, but emotionally vulnerable. During my meditations, I saw many of the things that she was put through and forced to endure.
*Splinter paused, trying to get his voice back. This was not easy to talk about, even for him...*
I will not speak of what happened, out of my respect for Machias, as well as her dignity. All i will say, is that she is going to need all of your support during this time of recuperation.

*Seeing Mike's look of desperate worry, he put a supportive hand on his shoulder.*

Sp: We will see, Michaelangelo. We will take turns staying with her, until she wakes. I will take first watch, the rest of you are to rest and recuperate from your mission.

Mike: But Master, I--

Sp: I will let you know if she awakens.

Mike: Yeah, if she wakes up...

Leo: She's strong Mike, I'm sure she'll wake up soon. You'll see.

*Mike turned his eyes downward, to keep his tears from reaching the sight of the others. He stood, and walked towards the kitchen, to drown his sorrows in a cup of coffee.*

*Splinter watched him leave, his heart going out to his son. He then turned to Leo, who nodded and started towards the kitchen as well.*

Sp: everyone, go and get some rest. Azure, I would like to have a word with you when you are free. I will be in the infirmary with Machias...

*Azure watches Donatello walk away and his thoughts snap back to the present.*
I'm glad to hear Machias is going to be okay....I knew she would pull through. I've always admired her strength.
*gets up and flexes his wounded shoulder a little*
I wonder why Sensei wants to talk to me. I hope I'm not in any trouble....
*softly walks into the infirmary, where he sees Splinter sitting next to Machias. She's lying on a bed, sleeping soundly. Azure approaches Splinter and sits down on the floor before him*

*Splinter turned towards his student sitting on the floor and smiled softly.*

Sp: How are your injuries, my son? *looks at the bandages scattered all over Azure's body* I see Donatello did a good job of tending your wounds.

*Azure tried to hide his worry from Splinter, but he could see right through his student.*

Sp: No, you are not 'in trouble'. I merely wanted to speak to you. *He flashes a glance towards Machias's sleeping form, and then back to his son.* When donatello and i were tending to Machias, he told me what had happened in the compound. He also told me about your entrance through the glass cieling.

*Azure's face took on a look of desperation, and Splinter chuckled lightly, shaking his head.*

Sp: I am not scolding you for your...method of entry. To the contrary, I am actually quite impressed. You did not allow your emotions to take control, and you brought Machias back in 'the nick of time'.
She is in your debt, and I am sure that she is very thankful. You took charge of the situation well, and removed everyone out of harm's way. You are learning quickly, and I believe that you are ready for promotion to the next level of your training.

*Splinter but a hand on Azure's shoulder, and gave a reassuring squeeze.*

You have made me proud, my son. Now, go and get some rest. We will check your bandages later this evening. Sleep well...

*Although Splinter had told them all to get some rest, Saisei found herself unable to sleep. Grabbing her bathing suit and a towel, she headed towards the pool area quietly. The cool water felt good as it came in contact with the minor cuts and bruises she had recieved during the day. Closing her eyes, she let herself sink under the surface, holding her breath while letting the calming silence erase her thoughts*
