Yeah I think my Walmart also got rid of their TMNT stuff.

Yeah, I actually picked up one of each Donatello variant last year at a Walmart. Had no idea they were even a thing until I looked at the back of another pack and had them listed as "rare." I don't know if they'll ever be worth anything but I've kept them sealed in package, just in case.

From a "play value" standpoint, it seems like it would have been far better for Playmates to just pack both options into one package. Seems like they were trying to manufacture a "collector's item" by sticking it to the consumers.

My local Walmart had Shredder, Bullhop and the "One Love" Wrestling Mikey, which I picked up for myself. I'm not sure if they had any of the two variant Donatellos, but I wasn't really looking for one of those.

Ha, I finally broke down and bought a Hypno-Poamus figure off ebay for about a x2 markup of retail price. I'd like to snag a Bullhop and Shredder but not for anything more than $20.

A Playmates rep stated that there will be no more releases in the Rise line, so yeah.

I stopped by the Watertown WI Walmart and found Bullhop, Wrestling Mikey and Shredder. So they are making their way out. Better still, there appeared to be less than 2 dozen figures, so not quite a full case. But there were still three each of each of the new figures. So it looks like Playmates has wised up and are shipping them in greater numbers. The one downside is that I didn't see any additional Wrestling Leo or Hypno-Potamus figures.

If you are looking for these figures, I suggest searching for the generic figure assortment sku (321809781) on Brickseek. This should show which stores are still carrying the line if you look for ones that don't have them listed for clearance prices.

Thanks for the advice! Was able to find 2 wrestling mikes, 1 shredder, and 1 bullhop at one of my local Walmart’s today. They were the only Walmart in my area that still had a section for the turtles.

So, from some comments on Youtube, I have read is that this toy line has been cancelled and this year (2020) Playmates will be doing vintage TMNT stuff from the original line. Has anybody else heard anything like this?

Pretty much constantly for at least the last month.

Most stores have either removed all their TMNT stock or put it on Clearance. It's done. All that's missing is a formal announcement. To be fair, it's probably not easy to come up with a way to say, "Sorry we sh*t the bed" without making themselves look overly foolish.

Bruh, you've made the same post 4 times. It's not gonna get replies quicker, or generate a clear cut answer.

Someone here emailed Playmates, they said it was done after the winter season in favor of focusing on "classic" stuff. That's literally all there is to go by. It could mean anything. Toy fair is in a week or so, you'll see what they have in store at that time.

I actually finally did get a clear answer. Pls see below. I'm sorry if my posts bothered you and thanks for the answer. I am actually not on these boards a lot and just recently signed up a few weeks ago. It was shocking to me, that this line is ending and it was suggested that I try to post in here and I got an answer. I have not heard anything from any major toy news outlet or any YouTubers, I thought Pixel Dan might have gotten news about this. I was just really shocked and wanted confirmation and now I have it.

To be fair, it's not like I personally have any concrete information or inside sources on it or anything. I simply feel like a mountain of evidence speaks for itself in many cases, and that this is one of them.

Inventory was shrinking on shelves six months before anyone even said a word about it possibly being cancelled. The writing was on the wall. Everything being put on Clearance or simply taken off display entirely cannot possibly be a good thing.

Add that with "radio silence" on the matter from Playmates themselves, and to me, that says Game Over. No, it's not "official", yet, but... well, they need time to come up with a way to spin it as "not a major loss". But surely it's only a matter of time.

I wouldn't be shocked if they skip the official announcement of cancellation entirely, simply because there's nothing they can say that won't be an admission of defeat. Maybe they just hope to razzle-dazzle people with whatever "classic" stuff they have planned and hope that nobody asks what happened to "Rise" at all. Some sleight-of-hand misdirection is probably the best thing they can do from a PR perspective.

Hopefully. I'm hoping they go in a different direction for the next batch of turtles designs

If anything, I wish Playmates would offer decent Classic Collection figures. I recently purchased a 2016 Hero Mikey and man, the quality is pure crap. It looks pretty good until you hold it in your hands and compare to the 1993 release. The lack of paint, the feel of the cape...just lacking in so many ways. I understand that changes may have been made to separate the two, but couldn't that be determined by the date stamp on the foot? Either way, I am definitely curious to see this direction Playmates plans on taking. I don't want to see them completely let go of TMNT, but if they choose to re-release Classics...hopefully they can somehow be an improvement instead of lackluster re-issues like in 2016.

Does the idea of Playmates getting back into collector stuff make anyone else a little nervous? I don't want to go back to them putting out crap and not letting anyone else do it right.

If they get into collector focused figures or not will not change whether or not other companies are able to get or retain a license. The contract that determines what Playmates' protections are has already been written and isn't going to change. And we've seen that Viacom is far more open to working with a variety of companies than Mirage ever was. So they aren't going to suddenly turn down extra money from NECA or anyone else that wants to produce collectible Turtle figures.

All I want to see is a solid standard line that actually resembles Ninja Turtles. New sculpts in an 80s-90s style would be amazing, but I'd take an entirely new line as well.

I don't like screwing around with expensive higher-end collector figures (though I'll probably end up caving for some of that NECA Turtles in Time stuff) but I just want to be able to walk through the toy aisle when I go to the grocery store and pick up one or two in the $8 range
