how bout using the kind of spider-man game esque free-roaming areas
with the usual get out of someplace before time runs out and that idea about using hand-to-hand combat and weapons kicks ass then there would be little secret cut-scenes and such and comic covers to find (if you want of course) but for all you violence hungry people i think you should note that the game is going to be based on the new show! and the show is a kids show! so don't expect leo to be pulling out shredder's heart at the end of the game and thats my......4 cents

I like stryker's idea as well... nice thing. I like the classic beat-em-up style... but I like the free-roaming idea.

And now for the jumbled mega reply
I've been reading this forum thread, and all of you have great ideas... Now then, here's my contributions.
Personally, I see NOTHING wrong with 3D-full roaming Fianl Fight-style beat 'em. I like the idea of the switch the weapons, but I also like the idea of INDIVIDUALISED special weapons and abilities, ala Radical Rescue for GameBoy, which requires you to play through the game with EVERY charecter to get the full experience of the game. I also like the idea of a 'stage select' after you beat the stage, ala Shinobi for PS2. I'm thinking original artwork from the Mirage artists would be awesome 'prizes' as well as cutscenes, which, while done to death, are very useful to moving a story, could be viewed in a movie player. I'm also partial to the idea of having 'alternate costumes' for the TMNT... Like, say you didn't like the new cartoon style and you wanted Leonardo to look like he did in the old cartoon. Well, unlock it in-game, and BAMF! you have old cartoon Leo. Also, I'd like it if, when you changed chara style, you changed voices... I mean, who ELSE hates Leo's new voice? Am I alone in this one, or does everyone else think Cam Clarke did soooooo much better? The idea for the changing voices comes from the idea that Wayne Grayson STILL does Mikey, and, well, I like Cam Clarke. Also, individualized statistics, like in the first TMNT game, would be great. Remember how Don could take out an enemy in one swing, while everyone else took FOUR? Yeah, I liked that too, even though I played Leo. Another debate is music. Why not remix music from all of the other games? I mean, we ALL jammed out to the overworld theme in TMNT for NES. I want remixes of those, and everyone knows that Konami has mixers. One thing I'm begining to fear is, seeing this is Konami, the very real possibility of TMNT DDR... Now, don't get me wrong, here. I love TMNT... I like DDR... But the concept of the two together freightens me. I like the idea of stealth, seeing as how it's ninjas, but I also don't really want it to be "you HAVE to be sneaky to survive," you know? The most fun I had in MGS and MGS2 was making my presence known and make with the jujitsu, knocking out everyone in the room, hide, wait for the radar to return, and then go about my daily routine of espionage and monkeys. But I digress. If they released a fighting game, I'd like it to actually play more along the lines of Super Smash Brothers Melee, which would sort of work better, seeing as how you tend to last longer and get more enjoyment out of the fight. PLUS you could finally have ALL FOUR TURTLES FIGHTING EACH OTHER AT ONCE!! The secret characters thing with alternate storylines is good. I think that is actually REALLY good, and that you NEED the secret charecters abilities to unlock other stages, giving the game even MORE replay value, so that by the time the second game is released, you'll just be getting the 100% complete sign and are ready to take on a new game. Now then, this rant is going on far to long, so I will leave it open for the debates.... Later.

That's a big distribution... amazing i finished it in only two days. But this idea is great too. If only Konami was reading these ideas right now. Maybe someone ought to make them aware of the ideas that could be given to them.

That was lengthy. Could someone who's read the whole thing summarize it for me and save me the trouble of actually reading it?
Oh, yeah, I read part of it. And I agree, you shouldn't HAVE to be stealthy, but I think it would make a nice gameplay option.

Heh, sorry for the long thing
It was late and I was tired... Basicly, I agree on the full roaming 3D area thing, but with a final fight style beat 'em up to it. I also agreed on the switch weapons thing, but I took it a step further with individualised weapons, allowing only certain charectors to access certain areas of a stage, and thus certain secrets including, but not limited to, new stages, bonus cutscenes, new charas...
The next thing was the idea of 'alternate costumes.' Like say you wanted the old cartoon Leo instead of the new one. Unlock him and he's yours. But I went one step further by saying they should change the voices for the change in costume, like using Cam Clarke for old cartoon Leo instead of the new guy. Next was individualized stats. Leo be the balanced in the group, Don be the power hitter but slow, Mikey be fast and attack twice as fast as the other turtles, but weaker than the other, and Raph be the tank, but be slower than Don. Next I touched on music saying that they should do a remixed montage of all of the old music from the other games. I mean, I wouldn't mind fighting to the old overworld music from the first game all over again, would you? I also touched on the idea of stealth. It's a good idea, but it shouldn't be completely neccessary. Also, if the turtles are stealthy, that means the foot should be too, which will make gameplay a little tougher than, say, TMNT II: The Arcade Game for NES, but not nearly as painful as the first game. The rest of it are little musings I made while going off on my rant. Well, here it is, broken into bitesized chunks. Enjoy.

Now if only it was in words of one syllable.
I'll save space and just say I agree with most of it.

If you want multiplayer, stealth is not an option. Stealthy single player game would be cool, but im really hoping for a multiplayer beat em up. Games like that have much more reply value.

Oh, I think stealth could work in a multiplayer game. But that depends, online or split screen? Split screen makes it pointless in the first place, becuase you know where your enemy is.

Yeah... and split-screen kinda gets annoying, because you can be distracted by what's going on in the other screen. I hope it is online... and if the original four turtles are taken, you can create more turtles (like Everquest) and play the game as your created turtle. But they'll have to make the game very big, very long, and very extensive.

Carisk Domino
Bitching sound track like Symphony of the night. fades from Rock n' Roll to Classical.
Relentless fighting where you kill 50 foot soldiers at a time. You could avoid people as not to alert the masses of your existence. SWORDS SHOULD CUT STUFF DAMMIT Multiplayer Battle and mission modes Free Roaming=Yes While Shenmue was an incredible, no.... God like, no... One of the best games of all time, the feel just wouldn't fit the turtles. Sure you could have cuts scenes, but what the hell would a turtle do with an allowance of 500 yen a day? Play Space Harrier? Environment should harbor weapons for your use. Pick up a crow bar from a felled enemy and have some play time with his friends. Dont limit weapons to the designated weapons they use. Chain whips, shurikens, scythes, bats, guns (to use as blunt objects)... Cameoes from old cartoon characters like Slash, Bebop, and Rocksteady. Nostalgia always sells. Customizable Turtles like in Skating/Wrestling/Boxing Games. Guitars wailing constantly off in the distance Bonus level where Raphael gets into a bar fight and knocks out annoying celebrities such as Robin Leech, Reigis Philbin, Oprah and her infernal bitch boy Dr. Phil, Boris Yeltsin and the number 4. Shredder will kick ass, or I will hunt down the programmers....and most likely hurt them by calling them names until they cry and ask me to leave |

And how about an additional practice mode like in Turtles in Time where two can battle each other like Street Fighter. It would be a cool addition.

How about unlocking the original Arcade game after you beat the game on Hardest difficulty?
That would kick donkey!

Well, that could be another game entirerly. TMNT Mega Collection. Play ALL of the old games in 32-bit Hi-res sprites. I mean, who WOULDN'T want to play Fall of the Foot Clan in 32-bit graphics? Sure, I 've beaten it, literally, with my eyes closed, but it'd still rock. And since Konami owns all of the titles, the only thing that would have to be changed would be the areas where the original theme was the BGM. Why does that have to change? The original production company owns it, therefore making it a pain to get the rights to it for EVERY LEVEL that it appears. Curses, I'm rambling again...
