but seriously...with Donnie, April has "instant" moments with him....but with Casey she actually flirts and takes the time to sit down and talk to him.

So what exactly was that energy explosion April did to destroy the monster? Seemed too easy of an ending.
Pretty good episode other than that.

Solid episode, lots of nightmare fuel. Mikey's blank stare will haunt my dreams tonight..
I gotta say I'm really starting to like Seth Green as Leo, and it was nice to see a softer side of Casey for once. My only complaints are them completely ignoring Mikey's "ninja vibes, yo", and the ending felt a little rushed. Still, a great Halloween episode. It's hiatus time now, huh? |

Okay, so I finally managed to watch this week's episode. I LOVED it!! I like it more than last week's episode. lol
Oh, here's a tipoff to all. The characters with green eyes can not be trusted. April's mom had green eyes. Irma had green eyes. Raph has green eyes (and he's going to become Dark Raph). Hmm.... Okay, I really liked Casey for this episode. He didn't come across as insensitive and stuff and to be honest, when Casey was talking with April when she was telling him that her mother wanted to leave, I was hoping that Casey would say something about his own mother. Maybe it's just me, but seems like he wanted to say more there other than, "She's your mom." That was a huge missed opportunity, imo, to get into Casey's family a bit more. Maybe something like, "If I could hang with my mom again, I probably would too." or somethng. I thought Raph was great in this episode. He was pretty sarcastic, and I love how he told Casey that he's being stupid like Mikey. lol Oh, a tipoff... When April's mom mentioned wanting to get away from the Turtles and for it to be the two of them, that should've alarmed April right there...partially. She said she wanted to get away from the "creatures". She's including Casey in that, which is unusual, ne? I liked how Mikey didn't trust her, and him with ICK was just so cute! Animals are good at sensing the good in people or if something is off about people. Too bad the others never saw ICK's reaction to Mrs. O'Neil. Oh, did anyone else think "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers?" I love how creepy each turtle was when taken over. Donnie's was best, though, when going after Leo. Oh, and April and apparently, Leo were in search of Mrs. O'Neil...does this man that Raph wasn't asked to help look for her? Now the explanation at the end was interesting. That thing had April's mother's memories. So, if that 's the case, doesn't that make everything in the earlier part of this series a bit moot? They have photos. They had to know that Kirby and April were who they were looking for. It makes the Kraang Conspiracy (I think it was; the ep where April mailed in her DNA) kind of pointless, doesn't it? Kirby looks the same, minus the fro. They even knew his name after kidnapping him, right? From ep 1 they should've realized that Kirby was definitely the one they were looking for. I dunno, this whole explanation seems iffy to me. As for April's powers, I have to side with Cybercubed...seems she goes all out when under a lot of pressure and stress. It is a deux ex machina, but...it's the only logical explanation, right? So, other than feeling this ep has created a plothole, I really did enjoy it. So far, this is my favorite ep. I loved how creepy it was, especially when Donnie, Leo, and Mikey popped out of April's mom and stuff saying "One of us"...wait, isn't that from that Children of the Corn story or whatever it was called? Pretty sure it was a Stephen King story. |

Don't look at it from an age perspective, look at it from what they've told you throughout the series. Remember when Mikey was hugging the mutagen canister in the pilot calling it "mom"? Well why was the mutagen there in the first place? Because the Kraang, even then 15 years ago, were looking for April.
- The Kraang have been after April since she was born. - The Kraang were in New York looking for her with the mutagen when Yoshi spied on them in the story from the pilot. - The mutagen mutated Splinter and The Turtles during the fight. April is indirectly the reason The Turtles became who they are, so in a interesting roundabout way to the turtles, April is "mom". |

I do. She was created by a race that are telepathic. They can extract DNA, why not memories.
The thing that I thought was weird is how Mrs O'Neil (or 'Mom-Thing' as she was listed as in the credits - I'm being serious) called Kirby 'Kirby' and not 'your dad'. 'Where's Kirby?' sounded a bit off to me. You'd say that if he was a step-father, not a dad. It's nice to see some of Mikey's natural ninja abilities coming through and the film nods. The great thing is, you don't have to be a horror film buff to enjoy the references. I never really watch horror - but I've really enjoyed the last few episodes. Somebody said it had quite a Coraline vibe about this one. I'd agree with that. Coraline's one of my favourite films and short of button eyes, this episode was reminiscent of the film/book in so many ways.

Really good Episode!
My favorite line: "I was right, in your face!" I laughed so hard on this one and his expression when they asked him where he spilled the mutagen.

It makes sense that April would confide with Casey, since she didn't want to hurt the turtles' feelings about what her "mother" said about the turtles and that she wanted to leave with only April.

Wow what a scary episode this was, i'm surprised this got past the censors.
I felt sorry for Mikey because no one believed him, They need to trust him more on his senses. I wonder, since his time alone in Dimension X his senses have improved a lot. In Dimension X he learned that cute monsters were bad and that sense happened here with April's Mum as he knew something was off with her. Loved some of the references in it: When Mikey said evil clown, evil clown, this was referenced to Steven Kings IT. Raph watching the pumpking on the tv was a reference to Halloween 3. When the monster controlled Donnie/Leo and they had tenticles coming out of there arm, this was the reference to the 2K3 episode The Darkness Within. The Monster was the reference to the movie, The Thing. Moments Wonder how long Leo will use the crutch for. I so used to hearing Seth as Leo now, he's done a good job so far. Love the cleaning segment, reminded me of 2nd movie when the turtles were cleaning April's apartment. Lol Raph goes up the chimnney to clean it Clever how Mikey is cleaning the lights dangerling upside down using his kusarigama chain. Casey sitting in the bathtub, hope Raph cleaned it out properly after Bigfoot S**t in it. Why did Mikey get the blame for messing up, it was Donnie's fault for pushing Casey into him. Love that Mikey caught April when she fainted. Love the flashback moments, April was cute when she was young. Lol, Leo held his pinky out when he drank his tea. Mikey's Ninja senses kicking in, he doesn't trust April's Mum Mikey and ICK moment was adorable It was good of Donnie to go back to the Kraang ship to check the files, so it looks like he wanted to see if Mikey's senses were correct. OMG that Mikey stare was freaky Like the new team up with April, Casey and Raph. April's mom changing into that monster was freaky The Monster face/neck split in half was freaky Seeing Donnie's, Mikey's and Leo's faces coming out of the monsters neck was freaky April uses her Powers to stop the monster. Ewww, moster gunk and parts everywhere. Awww April supporting Donnie Awww brotherly moment betweeen Leo and Mikey, when Mikey was being sick, Leo was supporting him. Poor April, thought she got her mum back but it wasn't her mum, nice to see Casey and Leo comforting her. Love the Mikey, I was right, in your face moment, yeah you tell them Mikey. Punk Frogs on the way.

Liked this episode way more than last week's! All the horror references were great (even though I'm not a fan of horror, I enjoy some scary things around Halloween). My favorite part was definitely the Mikey/ICKitty bit. I also liked the part where they supposedly entered a breakdancing contest. Loved every Mikey moment here- evil clown, ICK, distrust of April's mom, fighting April's mom, the blank and happy creepy stare (freaky), and his boasting at the end.
Also the Raph, April, Casey team up was great and refreshing. Am really digging Seth Green as Leo. Don't really have anything to complain about, glad the April, Donnie, Casey thing was just a quick bit at the beginning. Why did they wait three months to clean, though? I thought Mikey had been doing chores. Or maybe it was just some bi weekly deep cleaning? Anyway, loved the episode!

I so said before that April have been on the run her whole life and that probably the reason why she didn't seem to have a lot friends. It would been've difficult if you move around a lot.

I feel like this episode really pushed the boundaries for how scary a monster can be in a kids show. It was great of course. And I don't watch the show with any kids, although I wish I could because I'd like to see their perspective on it.
And once again I get the feeling that the animation is very gradually improving, there were many times in this episode where I felt like there were movements or shot compositions that we probably would not have seen in Season 1 as they continue to improve every aspect of how they do things. It's great! Only complaint is the plot itself. I like the whole Kraang ship under the house bit and all the backstory, but if they really wanted to go the Aprils-Mom-Is-Really-Something-Else route then I wish they'd gone more The Thing in how they executed on it. Yes, The Thing references are VERY apparent in this episode, but what should have happened was once Raph, Casey and April get into the barn they realize that ONE of them MUST be the creature and they have to figure out who before it attacks the two who are real! But... maybe there is a good reason for why they chose not to do it that way. Possibly because it's too similar to some past plotlines such as the Wasp episode? Or maybe they just couldn't make it work with the running time they have. In the end, this episode provides us with some good backstory and history which I love. The action was really strong, but the actual enemy was very "been there done that" as we've already seen quite a few in 2k12 TMNT similar to it. More interested in the next episode! |

Really liked this episode. Too bad April's mom wasn't real, but I'm holding out hope that she's out there somewhere. Loved the cleaning sequence and how Mikey was right all along. The monster was freaky, but I loved the back story about the whole thing. I think the reason they kept coming to the farmhouse was because maybe they didn't know people were getting abducted. Seems to me that April, her mom, and dad lived there and then after the Kraang came after them, April and her dad left for New York. I liked the April/Casey moment, and April's mom calling her dad Kirby isn't really that weird because he is her husband and all. I was freaked out when the Turtles and the others were coming out of the monster, but I liked that April defeated her. I also thought it was cute that Leo stuck his pinky out to drink tea and that Leo and Casey were the ones who were supporting April about not giving up hope. Overall, a pretty decent episode, and Renae Jacobs did a fantastic job. And I'm also loving Seth as Leo since he gets better and better.
As for April being their "mom" that would be a little creepy considering Don's feelings for her. Too bad we have a hiatus now. Hope it's not too long though.

I'm not sure if anyone else caught it but when Mikey talks about how cute guinea pigs are, Raph stops him and says, "I told you not to be stupid, you moron". Anyone else thinks that it's a Howard Stern reference about what his father would tell him or am I the moron?
