As a whole, I agree. Though in terms of forming an opinion at the basic level for deciding if you're going to put your money into it, well it's kinda what trailers are made for. *shrug*

Little different than what some seem to be doing before seeing the new one. Some people seem so ecstatic I'd almost not question a suggestion that they might be dry humping the screen.

Really I only just now watched the original the other night (and it's two sequels) again after many many years. God.. roughly 20 years maybe? (Because that doesn't make me feel old all of a sudden.) At this point I just have gotten to where I find costumed characters... weird. And awkward. But it surprised me really, what people say about it holding up all these years is true. They're prob the only costumed characters I could comfortably watch at this point.. lol

And for all the digital technology we have these days, it's hard to image it could get any better, but chances are someday even this new movie may look old and dated. It's time may be now, but it will eventually join the others in being old news.

The first movie had a little thing called "build-up", which gives the story some suspense and momentum and keeps you engaged in the plot. The fight with the Shredder had weight and power because they'd been building up to it the whole movie. It's part of why it's so memorable.

Special effects aren't everything. They can be an effective tool when used right, but without build-up and a decent story structure, all they are is a distraction. Movies without these things usually depend on those flashy effects and explosions to keep the audience entertained, but ultimately there's not much to the movie beyond the effects.

That's not a number 3, it's a Chinese/Japanese character 子

Yes, exactly. Have felt a little bad for him in particular once Knoxville was announced. As if Biggs wasn't a weird enough fit, from a person standpoint not voice work. Getting paired up with those humans, poor guy.

I don't imagine these are people who'd ever be asked the classic question if or how they feel they identify with the character they're playing.

I haven't looked around too much on other sites so I'm not sure what the general reaction to the trailer has been... Youtube and IMDB are a mixed bag but then they're both a bit of a weasel-pit anyway. Not exactly the place for well-thought out analyses.

We get a good shot of the writing on Donnie's shell - looks like a number three with a line through it so I'm guessing maybe it could be some type of kanji? Any thoughts?

It's quality, not quantity. I agree with what Bry said; technology alone does not make a good movie - many popular movies have outdated technology but they endure because the characters and stories touch people's hearts and minds.

yeah i like that movie a lot, im a diehard TMNT fan but im also not gonna start bashing the new movie because of how they look or because michael bay is in it...

And yeah, after recently reading often who "bad" the third movie is, watched it recently (last time like back in the mid 90s), as I mentioned... I don't really see what's so bad about it to be honest, it has it's charms for what it is.
