The only thing I don't like about IDW Don is that he doesn't seem to want to understand what he can't explain.

He's just so sure of himself and never seems to think that he could be wrong or make an error in any situation.

Yeah, exactly. There's no room for improvement. I grew up liking Donatello cause he was into learning, and to be into learning you need room to learn and realize that you're not right about everything. IDW's Don, thus far, is pretty pretentious and narrow-minded.

One thing I gotta keep in mind is that Don's narrow-mindedness is probably going to be a big part of his character development, as Tom said in response to my letter in issue #2 that Donnie is going to get some really great development. So, I'm guessing this will be it...hopefully!

You got pissed at his character that early in the series? Jeez.

How in the blue hell did you get a pissed off vibe from my quoted statement? The paragraph you quoted is pretty hopeful, actually.

hmm, interesting. In what ways is he narrow minded? OT Don could be kind of full of himself and disdainful of humanity (I personlly liked his attitude towards humans) and Next Mutation Don could be pretty arrogant, all other Don's seem like they are open minded and humble.

Well, perhaps "pissed" was too strong a word, but the book obviously affected you largely enough to incite a written response. The fact that you didn't even wait for any hint of development to eke its way into future issues before doing so minutely implies that it was an emotional reaction. It sounds like you didn't give it a chance.

Have you read the Image comic series? Give it a go and your head'll explode.

Cool story, Socrates. Obviously a reaction to each issue should be expected.

I've read image. Not my cup of tea, save Michelangelo.

Obviously. Yours gave me the aforementioned impression. You didn't rebut those impressions other than vaguely inferring you weren't "pissed," so I'll presume they'll remain true.

Not surprising.

Now, if you'll excuse me, this toga is a little loose...

Awesome! Donatello is my favorite TMNT character! by the way, what does everyone think of the new 2k12 Don? i know the show hasn't came on yet, but what do you think of how they are going to make him "more of a teenager" ?
his new design is pretty wierd, i like it because it makes him look like an actual teen, but he is a bit to lanky and goofy looking to be a threat to the foot. I also really like how he know has a crush on April, when i used to watch the 2003 series, i always felt like he had a crush on her, but it was never confirmed. What does everybody think about 2k12 don?

I'm liking it. As long as he doesn't act like a jerk to anybody like the one in the IDW comics, I'll be fine.

I think 2k12 Don looks and sounds great. With Rob Paulsen voicing him, I feel like this might be the best version of Don so far!

Not that I hate him, but Don's always been my least favorite of the bunch. He is my mom's favorite He was the easiest for me to use in Tournament Fighters when I was a kid. It was so easy to span the bo spin move and beat everyone.

It seems as though Donnie's conflict with Leo (for the time) in IDW has been resolved. I'm looking forward to seeing how Donnie acts now that Leo was right all along...

What happened between them. Mind sharing? Unfortunately, I didn't start collecting IDW at the beginning, so I didn't read past the first volume.

Basically, Leo accepted Splinter's reincarnation theory as fact, because Splinter said it and because the Foot clan jumped him (Leo) while he was searching for Splinter (and thus, the connection between the Foot and the ancient rivalry Splinter talked about became true in Leo's mind). Donatello, from the start, has been 100% skeptical, needing the appropriate evidence to believe such a (to his mind) silly claim that the Turtles and Splinter were actually reincarnated. There was no science behind it, there wasn't any hard proof (until issue #11) that the disappearance of Splinter and the Foot clan jumping Leo was linked, nor was there proof that this tied into the reincarnation theory. So, Donnie would staunchly argue that Leo had no facts, he was jumping to conclusions, and there were a number of possible variables to consider before believing by word of mouth. This disagreement created tension between Donatello & Leonardo in almost every issue they exchanged words. Although not admitting that he believes them to be reincarnated (yet), Donnie seems to now have relaxed, taking a break from his scientific podium.

Sorry if that's confusing, I tried explaining it the best I could! But now the rivalry has had a bit of a conclusion in Donatello realizing Leonardo has been right the entire time.

There's another reason why I don't like the IDW comics. Even though I hate this relationship they created between these two, there was no clear resolvement. Is that supposed to be evident in some micro issue? Why was it resolved so fast? First it was, "Oh no! Don't give me that garbage, Leo!" to "You were right, Leo. I'm sorry." What? That quickly? This Donnie complains that he needs facts for everything, but yet, we don't get the facts why he gave in and realized Leo's right? To me, that's just poor writing. In fact, this relationship never should have been done this way. This was for the sake of "making sense" or being "refreshing" without thinking that it would hurt either of the characters. Here's hoping Nickelodeon does something right between Don and Leo on their animated series.

At first, I honestly very much enjoyed the Don v. Leo rivalry. It was a breath of fresh air as opposed to the typical Leo v. Raph conflicts we always see. It was the constant every issue reminder that they disagreed that got annoying. It was the same thing with Mikey liking video games, they stuffed that down your throat almost every issue and it just stopped within the last few issues. You know, we get it, Mikey likes video games. Every issue it has to brought up? Same with the Leo/Don conflict. It got redundant.

Although I would surmise that Don acknowledging Leo to be right isn't the end of this rivalry, I think for the time, we might get a break from it. I would agree that I think it should have been a bigger character moment for Don (he basically just says sorry and moves on), like a realization of sorts, but at least it wasn't just ignored.
