"Real cut?" The Rogue Cut is lame, IMO. I agree with everything they left out. Whether it's canon or not, I have no idea, but I don't consider it the "real" movie. Not unless I've missed somethings Singer said...

I'll probably just go digital for this. I'll wait and see what kind of snazzy trilogy sets they put out in the future.

As much as I like Rogue, her scenes in Rogue Cut are pretty rushed and insignificant. They did the right thing cutting it out, it'd ruin the movie's pacing and believability (mentioning and retrieving her was such a deus ex machina tbh). Still it's a guilty pleasure kinda thing, it's not that great but I gotta have it.

If Star Wars gonna release bits by bits (aka normal version, extended edition later on like Lord of the Rings, Avatar, X-Men Days of future past and the likes), then I'm gonna wait. I'm glad I waited patiently for Hobbit Extended Edition blu Ray set and now it is available for all.

I bought The Rogue Cut of DoFP for the bonus features. But I also kept the original release, there's a few extras on there that aren't on The Rogue Cut.

I don't necessarily have a problem with a bare bones release. I like this movie a lot, but all the hoopla surrounding it is annoying to say the least. I'm not that desperate to know what a cadre of Hollywood superfans have to say about Star Wars, even if they made the movie.

My only interest in DVD releases are deleted scenes really along with owning a copy of the film. Sometimes the making of _________________ documentaries are interesting but just give me the above and that is all I need.

Leave Revenge of The Sith out,CKD. It has its flaws, but it is a pretty good film even on a Star Wars level of expectations.

Man, I watched the CinemaSins "Everything Wrong With..." for the Prequel Trilogy, and how the HELL did you guys ever sit through those?

And I thought Michael Bay movies were atrocious.

Now I see how, even if Ep7 DID rertread and repackage a LOT of the original movies, you guys are absolutely thrilled with it. Can't say I blame ya!

I'd be surprised if the first TFA Blu-ray was a bare-bones release. Has that ever happened before with a Star Wars movie?

Every Star Wars movie is similar in several ways. Pointing this out isn't really a criticism.

A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi are all very different stories. From what I've unfortunately seen, Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith are all very different stories (albeit TERRIBLE).

The Force Awakens is NOT a different story. It has new characters, but plot for plot, it follows A New Hope extremely closely. It is not as much a unique story as it is an "updated" story, A New Hope 2.0.

It's the Star Wars equivalent to J.J. Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness. Except, due to the fact that the last good Star Wars movie was in 1983, you're all giving it a huge pass.

And seeing how originality was bludgeoned to death in a trash-strewn alley (thank you, Prequel trilogy), everyone is very relieved that this, too, didn't suck. But if ROTJ had been the last Star Wars cinematic experience instead of TPM/AotC/RotS, you'd all be a lot more critical.

And that's okay, I'm glad The Force Awakens doesn't suck. Hopefully Episode 8 will get around to telling a much more unique story.

I watched the movie again, I didn't plan to do it anymore since I got what I wanted from it the first time and wasn't compelled to watch it another time but I got a free ticket to watch it. I was reminded of a few things I liked/disliked from the movie this second time. I'll start with the negative and the reason this movie left me disappointed like I've mentioned before is that it's just a retread and seeing the Empire vs Rebels again just feels like a huge rehash. I didn't notice what a boring character Rey actually is, if you notice she's just kind of there and can automatically do everything, fight on her own, fly the falcon, fix it, find the lightsaber, use force powers, beat trained dark jedi in a lightsaber fight etc. I still think it's great how she beat Kylo Ren in the end and that we have a female main character but when you actually analyze her she's boring. I don't really like the old alien lady, a bad try at having a Yoda-esque replacement. And I kind of wish Leia/Han had a goodbye or something like acknowledging he might not come back and have some closure, weird to see no "I love you" or even a kiss. They were obviously happy to see each other again, it wasn't like there was a fight between them, they just dealt with the problems in their own way.

Captain Phasma wasn't treated as badly as I remembered, I would've wanted to see her restrain a little more before lowering the defenses, maybe say no and then Chewbacca have her change her mind or something. Finn was great, love his humor and I would like it if he actually becomes a Jedi in the films. Poe was great to, he's that character you just like and he was the one I didn't care about in all of the pre-release stuff, he seemed boring to me. Kylo Ren is a disappointing villain as are Snoke and Hux, let's see if they can fix them later on. That lighsabaer fight Finn has with the storm trooper is kind of odd, almost as if there was some history behind them but that scene would've been so much better if it had been Captain Phasma, you would've had her defeat Finn and seem cooler.

They're still all very similar, and I too am glad TFA doesn't suck.

George Lucas didn't like TFA, he thinks it's a a retread.

Everyone will comment how Lucas sucks because the prequels suck because it's the cool to think. But whatever, this new movie is a rehash I can't understand how everyone has a huge boner about it and how perfect it is. I'm confident however that in a few years TFA won't be as fondly remembered. I remember this same crap after Episode III and I kept getting flamed or belittled because I thought it sucked and low and behold give it a few years and now ROTS sucks to the general consensus.

I hear ya. But it's not just cool to think the Prequels suck. Those are some godawful movies.

But yeah, you and I are in the minority. Blatantly retreading what has come before is okay, but it's not anything amazing. I say again, if the Prequels hadn't left such a toxic taste in everyone's mouths, The Force Awakens would NOT be receiving this level of praise.

Didn't Lucas first say that he liked TFA? Now he doesn't? Typical Lucas.

Well there are probably some people (kids/teens/young adults) that didn't see the original movies XD and don't know it's a rehash...

Like me! lol. (btw I enjoyed it)

He said he believes it will satisfy a vast majority of Star Wars fans and they will will love it. He never gave his personal opinion on it for himself. I did find the 'white slavers' comment odd and then he stopped himself.

While Han's fate and the 25 second clip with Luke as my main two gripes for this individual film I agree about the statement about how Rey suddenly is a force to be reckoned with.Yrs, natural mechanocal skills are buyable but piloting one should have shown her having 'beginner's luck'. Perhaps make reference to piloting the Millennium Falcon comparing it to similar controls to something she would have driven that was similar both being older models. Another thing was the Jedi mind trick. Was she even told about that ability? Maybe talked her way out of her situation learning from Han and it be Captain Phasma charged to guard her. Then when freed from her chains she is barely able to escape. Holding her own against a Empire Strikes Back level Luke in Kylo Ren? I can buy that if she had fencing training and being force sensitive giving her a natural edge. Thi gs like that could work around Rey's abilities out of nowhere.

Speaking as a fan of the prequels, Lucas does suck. He legitimately lost his mind at some point years ago.

I said that about Frank Miller and DC still gives him project after project and uses the lunatic as a main source.
