Okay, if the release date I've seen is accurate, then this game comes out exactly next week... so why haven't we gotten any new info? I know posting about this really doesn't do much of anything for the thread, but I'm frustrated over not knowing if Bebop and Rocksteady are going to be in this or not while the game is so close to release and I really need to vent. At this point, for the most part, their inclusion is what's putting me on the fence as to whether or not I want this game. I'd preorder it if I knew they were going to be in it, but it looks like we might not even know whether they're in or not until after the game's been released. It's not even that I'm a huge OT fan or anything... I just like the idea of an "all universes" TMNT game... and granted, the inclusion of those two wouldn't automatically make this game an "all universes" game, but it'd be good enough to warrant a purchase from me. But I'm not too keen on buying this game if after hyping itself as an "all universes" game, it only has characters from 2k3 and 2k7.

Again, sorry for the rant, but ya.

Game companies don't always show everything up front. Those last "?" are the "surpises" for the player to find upon release.

That may be true but I'd like to bring up something. Have you checked IGN's latest poll on their Nintendo Wii section? They ask how hyped up people are for TMNT Smash Up and from what I last read 43% of the voters said "No chance" and I think I know why. Basically people are boycotting the game already because they don't see any OT characters playable. So if Ubisoft wants this game to sell, they better pull one of these fast: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CueCullen

Hey, I didn't say it was a smart move.

Personally, I think if TMNT as a whole wants to sell again they need to get away from the CGI designs. It was an okay movie, but far from the best TMNT has to offer and that's how most people treat all things with that design. It's not their peffered TMNT, so why bother?

If the roster blows they just need to focus on making it a super solid fighter. If the game itself is good then people won't care about the roster, visually speaking. They made sure to cover every kind of controller so you can use whatever you're comfortable with and configure the buttons however you desire. They also included so many different kinds of modes it will keep the player busy for awhile. It might top Brawl, and I hope it does. I personally hated Brawl. I preferred Melee to it.

Doesn't they said that they'll look into different TMNT materials, and not tieing it into a show or comic, instead of "this is the ultimate multiverse tmnt game"?

I agree. Why stick with the 2k7 design? They were good for the movie, but are they really the best for a fighting game? There are definitely better, more classic designs out there to use. Maybe they got the models for cheap or something.

I've only seen this at costco.com, but they have a feature point that says, "Relive the movie" or some such nonsense. What wild and idiotic imaginations they must have at costco...

For the PS2 version, yeah. The Wii edition will drop a week earlier.

The excuse they give in the interviews and such is the fact that they're a bit more sinewy and flexible.

According to the Nintendo Power magazine article the excuse was the whole crew has a boner for the 2K7 movie. Everyone on the crew hadn't seen anything turtles since the old toon and when they saw the movie it impressed them. They thought it was dark and edgy or whatever. I thought it sucked personally.

Anyways the only guy who even knew the turtles came from comic books before starting the game was the president of the project.

That is so stupid. They liked one friggin movie and told the rest of the franchise to suck it.

I think you're overreacting a little. Lawson/Talbot cutscenes aren't exactly telling the rest of the Turtles franchise to "go suck it." It's a f*cking awesome homage that they didn't have to do at all, and I'm going to assume it's not alone in that aspect until I hear otherwise.

Mirage picked the roster according to the article. The design choices were made by Ubi however. Technically speaking we can't say we're not getting character from all incarnations because all those characters have been in everything so far. It's cheap but it's true. Old toon wise they tossed in the technodrome, which is a cheap way out in my opinion if they don't include any characters from it.

Alternate costumes is the way to go. If they screw that up then I will be disappointed.
