I love the characterization in this. It's like they FINALLY got Mondo Gecko right. THIS is how he's supposed to act like according to the back of the original Playmates figure in the 80's. A fellow surfer/skater dude for Mikey to hang with.

The 80's cartoon just didn't go for the whole surfer vibe at all. He was good in Archie... for like an issue or so before he left to join the Mutanimals. He barely got to hang with Mikey in the IDW series. Here we get to see them interact and become best buds a lot more than any previous version.

Loved the classic Mr. X reference, even though that was lame in the original. Love the villain cameos even though it just made no sense. The italian mafia guys pay no mind to all these talking animals? At least it have Xever some spotlight. I especially liked when he reminded Mikey that Fishface is an insult and his real name is Xever. Nice to see these guys not accept Mikey's dumbass names.

I really liked this episode a lot! To me, THIS is how a filler kind of episode should be.

his version of Mondo Gecko is really cool, and I can't wait to see more of him! He was one of my favorites from the original toy line, and although I don't think the new design is quite as good, it's still pretty cool looking. I do like that he's really short compared to the turtles, April and Casey though.

As silly as this episode was with the whole racing thing, it was still really fun. Seeing all the mutants make cameos was just awesome, and it's pretty funny to see that this is what they do in their free time

the only thing that I don't understand is why they all just kind of left after the race was over. I mean, Shredder wants the turtles dead, as do most of those mutants (some of which are working for Shredder!) and yet none of them thought to attack and/or try to capture any of them? Besides that, I thought the episode was pretty solid. Oh, and I love how they kind of sort of brought back "Cowabunga!"

Love this ep, I laughed a lot.

Mikey got his crotch bitten by a fish though lol. Ouch!

I really liked this episode. :3 Oh my gosh though. >//u//< I freaking loved how Xever/Fish Face sounded over the speaker system. This episode really just made me like him more.

I agree, Xever has that soothing, smooth quality to his voice. It's like he's trying to hit on people when he's talking.

There were so many good references in this episode. There was the title Meet Mondo Gecko right off the bat, "Cowabunga!" (finally), "gnarly", "jump the dog", the Tarzan yell, "that's gonna hurt", Mr. X, "dude", "bogus", and "party dude" which were all references that were neat to hear.

It was really neat to have Mondo Gecko's origin and story be a combined version of the Original Cartoon and the Archie Comics. I liked that a lot. The only thing we didn't see him attached to that old time fans would think of Mondo involved in was The Mighty Mutanimals. It could still happen too.

I loved having Robbie Rist back in TMNT. He fit nicely as this versions Mondo Gecko vocalist. Just enough different to not be exactly like the movie Mikey voice. I found it interesting that Fishface has this whole other "job" to do now that Bebop and Rocksteady are pretty much higher up on the muscle list for Shredder. At least it kind of shows what Fishface is doing when we don't actually see him. And hearing Xever's full name was an interesting touch as well. "We Will Rock You" was pretty cool too.

It was nice to have the show acknowledge another person that was mutated by a can of mutagen from the beginning of season two as well. Seeing Hun again was nice too. I also like how realistic this show handles their animal mutants and Mondo was very influenced by the specific species of gecko the show went with. And of course another video game win for Raph is always welcome in my book.

I feel like Tiger Claw wouldn't have been at the skateboarding race but I guess even he can have some fun at times. And especially since he said "You did not just do that." I felt a little cheated when I saw the three Shredder Mutants in the stands though. I did want to think that Splinter had killed them but as we've seen with Kraang Subprime, this show isn't trying to kill off many characters. I'm also starting to wonder if these Fulchi Twins are going to become more significant in the future. Anyway, this was just a really fun episode.

Nice episode. Only nitpick is, since I know I'm reading too much into it, why would Fishface run underground skate races? Makes no sense. Like who else has raced against him? ya know... what does he even gain from it?

I get that Mondo Gecko's whole thing from OT was thinking that ever mutant has look out for himself until Mikey taught him the meaning of friendship but did it really need that? It felt ham fisted because it happen in OT so had to be the same here but could been just a fun bizarre episode. It didn't felt like it needed one and felt out of place.
