When it was originally airing people liked to view it as a prequel to B:TAS as Robin was younger in Teen Titans than he is in B:TAS. There were also many nods between the creators like Kid Flash and so forth.

They played around with the idea back then, although nowadays most would agree its not part of the DCAU.

That video couldn't be any more wrong, since when was Teen Titans a show that was primarily dramatic? I got back into cartoons and re-found my inner child thanks to Teen Titans because it did not take itself seriously. I loved the serious dramatic episodes that TT had but most episodes in the season were not like that, most were fairly generic plots made fun because of the crazy hi-jinx. Then you had super wacky episodes which you had as many in a season as the dramatic ones.

Teen Titans Go takes one aspect of the show, comedy. Sure it doesn't have the action/drama the original had but this is not the original show. But to say TTG is unlike the original show is far from true, you can easily take any of the TTG shorts and put it in an episode of the actual show. All TTG is missing is the action/dramatic parts. The new show nails the comedy parts and that's what it aims. I loved the original show and this is a good way to see the characters that I loved again.

True, but did they REALLY have to make this show about teen titans change the tone of the original show?

it's a spinoff...it's not trying to be the original show, it's obviously trying to be a parody. They didn't HAVE to make a spinoff of Teen Titans...but I bet it was easier than making all new characters and villains...yadda yadda. Also this way we get to see all the Teen titan characters! with all the original voices! XD come on that's awesome! (except Speedy)

just shut your brain off and enjoy the wackiness. don't look at it as a sequel, look at it as a fun comedy spinoff.

As I said before, I can't deny that the show has made me laugh, but there's just a small part of me that has trouble getting over it completely.

The tone of the original show is not changed at all. Go watch it. I promise you it's still the same exact show. That's the reason why the hate this show gets is retarded.

it's okay~ It WOULD have been awesome if they continued Teen Titans....(I just know Raven and Beast Boy had a chance!! )

but Teen Titans Go! has it's advantages
Spoiler:

Exactly what I was thinking, BT. They didn't have to make this show, but they wanted to, and they figured that fans of the original TT would probably want to check it out and see what it was like. I love it myself and think it's just a fun show that doesn't have to take itself seriously at all. Yeah, there are some episodes that aren't that funny and have made me more confused as I've seen them, but this past episode was great, especially with the TMNT reference.

You know, I've given the episode a second watch as its own series and for what it is, it's not bad. I still dislike a few episodes (Gorilla), but I won't deny it's totally devoid of merit.

I woudn't say that it's exactly the same. It has similarities. But the original Teen Titans cartoon was an action cartoon. This new series is a comedy.

You misunderstand. The tone of the ORIGINAL show has not changed at all. It is still exactly the same, despite Go! existing. I edited my post because I misunderstood, too.

Cool

Someone said it best, the reason TT Go is bad is because if you replaced the DC heroes with completely new or made-up superheroes...the actual show would be almost exactly the same.

Why they didn't just make this some new original show with made-up superheroes instead of slapping the Teen Titans license on it is beyond me.

If you created a poll asking people if they'd rather have Young Justice be continued instead of creating TTG (or Beware Batman), I can almost guarantee you the majority would be for the former.

Young Justice was DCAU quality.

DC cartoons have been going dowhill for a while now. Brave and the Bold was good but than it and Young Justice there's been nothing else.

I don't know I thought both Green Lantern and Beware the Batman were decent.

Even ignoring the CG which was painful in those shows, the actual writing was pretty dull. I even thought The Batman was a bit more interesting and that was a toyetic kids show.

How is this not true to the original series as well? It barely resembles its source material.

well of course....that's like comparing apples and oranges...

one is a goofy spin-off while the other is more action-packed and serious.

I don't see why we couldn't just have Young Justice AND Teen Titans Go! both make me happy for different reasons.
