ALSO, the only REAL shame where Smash is concerned will continue to be the total lack of Rhythm Heaven. We got two songs (1 good one) on the worthless (because it can't be played online) Miiverse stage and that's IT. Even if they couldn't figure out a character as representation, at the very least the most balling stage of ALL TIME could have been crafted as a form of rep for the series.

I guarantee the soundtrack selection on the stage alone would kick recognition and appreciation of that franchise into space. It is BY FAR the most criminally unrecognised Nintendo series of all-time.

Seriously. F*ck Inklings. F*ck DK. F*ck Star Fox. F*ck 3rd parties. RHYTHM. HEAVEN. You heathens!

Sakurai has hinted more than once that this is his final Smash Bros. game, and I think that's for the best. The franchise needs a new director and new blood. Iwata was the one who had Sakurai come back for both Brawl and the Wii-U/3DS versions, and with his unfortunate passing Sakurai probably has no reason to continue. If anything I think this is his finale farewell to the franchise.

The NX Smash, whenever that comes out, should be very interesting if we have a fresh new director handling things. Hopefully gameplay wise its kept identical to the Wii-U version, but we actually get some diverse franchises added.

It's likely the next Smash will be done without Sakurai. I think we'll see a return of many things that Sakurai has abandoned and people have liked and we'd also see many fan requested characters Sakurai said wouldn't work like Ridley however we'll also end up missing Sakurai since I doubt anyone else will have the level of detail/love that he puts on so many characters/moves/stages etc.

As long as they don't mess with the physics of the gameplay/fighting, I'm sure Smash will be in good hands post-Sakurai. Its not like Nintendo will hand the franchise over to some random person, it'll likely still be developed by the same group of people who worked on Smash over the years without Sakurai. We've had 4 games now, I'm sure everyone at Nintendo knows people like all the extra little details in the games, such as the levels, trophies, taunts, etc.

My guess is Inklings will be the first revealed newcomer of the next game. They're the only current Nintendo franchise not represented by a character.

Hahaha...pretty much my roommate's reaction. I'm pretty hyped for her and the Knuckles costume...and some of the music. Other than that, eh. Too many human/swordsman characters for my liking. Isn't Fire Emblem up to 6 representatives now? Same as Mario & Pokemon? They sure are getting a lot of love. Not that I'm complaining. Bigger roster = yes.

Yes, Fire Emblem is now tied with Pokemon for the second most amount of reps in the game after Mario. The Mario franchise and Pokemon having the most characters makes sense, they're Nintendo's two top selling franchises.

Fire Emblem having 6 characters is a travesty, especially since they took away development time from other characters.

We aren't, because Fates isn't even f*cking out yet. Even as a big FE fan I think Corrin was a stupid inclusion. Especially considering Roy is a returning veteran. I don't care for Wolf or anything, but he made more sense as a returning character if Corrin was already being worked on.

I know FE, especially Fates, has really caught a huge wave of popularity in Japan recently, but it's way too much.

Both Lucina and Roy should have just been alternate costumes for Marth, similar to Olimar/Alph and how the Villager has 6 outfits.

I could tolerate Fire Emblem if the only real characters were Marth, Ike, Robin and now this new character, which it really is. Lucina and Roy had no reason to be their own full fledged characters.

Also Dark Pit is still a stain on the roster.

Sakurai confirmed Lucina, Dark Pit and Dr. Mario cost nothing, though. Multiple times. Them existing doesn't mean we lost anything. Either we got them or nothing.

Corrin and Roy cost us and I think that's why people are a little more upset about it.

When the Bayonetta trailer started off with Pit and Palutena talking, I was actually dreading that we were getting another Kid Icarus newcomer, like Hades or Viridi or any of those other Sakurai characters.

Thank god Bayonetta was revealed. If the only newcomers were a Fire Emblem character AND another Kid Icarus newcomer, boy would the fandom be in an uproar.

FE is very popular in Japan? Well maybe it was a way to compromise . Bayonetta was popular in Europe and USA ballots but not in Japan's so maybe they saw it as a way to make both countries happy and instead it backfired and now in western forums we bash Corrin and in Japan they're bashing Bayonetta for wasting a slot.

Seriously. We have the most lovingly crafted game in existence and all anyone can do is complain about it. People have somehow found a way to be upset about a Smash roster that includes sh*t like the god damned Dog from Duck Hunt, every single Koopa Kid, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu, Bayonetta and Cloud. Like...come the hell on.

If people had said any of that stuff when Smash 4 was announced we'd all be telling them to get lost.
