Great, so she'd be this show's version of Abby from NCIS? That could be cool!

Abby? Yeah I could see that. Haven't watched too much NCIS but seen enough of Abby to get her personality, I think. Is Abby like Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds if anyone watches that?

We kinda need an audience surrogate. Preferably one that does not have growing psychic powers or fighting crime with a hockey stick.

Def agree. That would make allot of sense. Also, with all those mutants out there now, chances have doubled that she's going to start investigating and run smack into the turtles. Soon, I hope. Been waiting for her to show up again since Good Bad and Casey.

Visually she definitely puts off an Abby vibe.

I mean Casey and April are action boy and girl, and I really don't think we need more of those. I know Donnnie is a genius and all that, but it'd be nice to see him sharing research duties. I mean, she kind of gives off a bit of a computer girl vibe...but that could just be the look of the character that causes that. Basically she's a current blank slate.
I like the Willow reference! And perhaps she'll me more usefull doing research and investigation... On the other hand, remember when the 80s Irma get magnetic power? It could happen to this Irma too!

Yeah, they have similar personalities, though Abby is more the "young punk kid," maybe misunderstood, while Penelope is more the "funny, sweet woman." They do have the same job and do pretty much the same thing and have their own wild styles indoors.

I also like the idea of lesbian Irma, but I doubt we'll get that. And, yes, I agree we need an audience surrogate and not another mutant or April hunter. Though, it would be fun to see her mutate (though I doubt that'll happen). I have a feeling she's supposed to resemble the very little bit of normalcy remaining in April's life.

So people basically want Irma to be the new April? Interesting.

Mostly because no one is filling the role that April has filled in the past. So, why not have Irma fill it, basically a hybrid of original toon April and 200x toon April...with a lot less damsel in distress...

I've used the character of Irma as bi-sexual in stories I've written in the past, mostly based on the character traits she presented in the original series...

So you want her to be April times 200? I don't get it.

Let's all have a look at her OT quotes for a bit of chortle.

Quote:
Irma Langinstein: [the Rat King is about to grab April] Wait, wait! I'll be your hostage. Take me instead!
The Rat King: Call me when you're a TV reporter.
Irma Langinstein: [angry] Dooh... men! You always go for the redheads!
[stomps on his foot]

Donatello: See that humongous dish?
Irma: Why thank you Donnatello.
Donatello: Not you, Irma. I mean that satellite dish.
Irma: Hmmph! It's just like a man to choose TV over me!

Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael: Turtles fight with honor!
Irma Langinstein: And women fight with handbags!

Irma Langinstein: [at Mardi Gras] Hi there, I love your costume. Y'know, I know a villain who wears one just like it.
Shredder: [lifting up Irma, who is wearing a magic gem] And I love what you're wearing. The gem! At last! It's all mine!
Irma Langinstein: [giggling] Oh, well please, we've just met. Let's not rush things.
April O'Neil: It's Shredder! Poor Irma doesn't know the danger she's in!
Vernon Fenwick: Poor Irma? How about poor him?
Burne Thompson: Irma, tell that goon to put you down! You're supposed to be working!
Irma Langinstein: [swooning] Forget it, Mr. Thompson. I just quit.
Shredder: Now how do I get out of here?

The new Irma's kinda witty and not be pushed around. I wonder if she'll use sarcasm a lot.

Or how about April just be April since average, intelligent girls CAN be interesting and integral to the main plot. There's an idea!

200X, as in the 2003 series, aka 4Kids series. Sorry, that's just how I refer to that series...

I've no problems with April being April, I am merely saying that the role her character filled in the previous series is nothing like the role she plays now in the series. Ergo, Irma could fill the role, if they so wanted to go that way.

Yup! ^This. I have no problems with April being April, either--but they can't just have April going back to that now, it's not like they can erase everything they've done. I also don't have a problem with April as she is now in the Nick series, either.

Also, Shark_Blade, I LOVE the quotes! She was always good for a laugh and just-- just so... Irma, lol xD And her clothes just look so late 80s/early 90sish (and, hey, I swear that style is coming back, anyway. Like I walked into a store the other day and was like, "Did I just get transported to my childhood? Hello, 1992?).

I'm really tempted to stay up later than I should and watch some old Irma stuff xD

April is April, it is just that this April is not the 2003 April, and the 2003 April is not like the 1980's April, etc. April has never been the same in every universe though most incarnations have her as a redhead. If this April was like her past incarnations I would not be as interested in this show really.

But she filled a certain role in all those iterations. She was the investigative chick, either as the reporter or as the computer girl. A role that isn't played by anyone in the new series.

No one is saying April needs to change, in my case I am just suggesting that it is plausible that Irma could potentially fill that role, without emulating previous characters.

This April is absolutely nothing like 80's April.

None of the Aprils are the same in any incarnation and that is the point. I would much rather have psychic alien mutant April over most easily and often kidnapped 1980's April, or Super smart/skilled 2003 April, or super skilled ninja April from the 2007 movie, or bad acting Michael Bay April, or living drawing April from one of the stranger comic incarnations of TMNT.

How do we know it'll be bad acting Michael Bay April? Granted, it is highly likely, but there is nothing to prove that yet...

I have yet to see good acting from that actress but maybe by some miracle I could be wrong. Though that might save the movie anyway.

I like Abby from NCIS and would like this version of Irma to be a detective/curious type personality.
