Donatello's main weakness was his slow agility and many times he wouldn't be able to knock down an enemy (or fix one of his inventions) in time before it was considered useless. How can you be a good leader if you can't make quick decisions and just keep brainstorming without actually reacting, like Leo, Raph, and even Mikey could? Still, when Donatello can get the job done correctly and act quick enough, he can solve problems with ease. I enjoyed Donatello since he can expand your vocabulary and due to the fact that he also seems to be a good model about how to be a good worker.

Donatello has always been my favorite turtle. I think I started liking him because I felt he sometimes didn't get as much screentime as Leo, Raph, and Mikey (at least in the 2k3 series) which made me more interested in him. Plus I like purple and smart characters, not to mention he makes a bo staff look awesome.

I know we've only seen the pilot so far, but I'm really digging the Nick version of Donny already. This might end up being my favorite version of him since the OT.

Donatello has always been my favorite turtle throughout his many incarnations.

He was always the preferred choice (for myself) in video games as well, though that may be part favoritism and part actual advantage in games.

As a child I was the only one out of my friends who really liked Don. My other friends were always wanting to be Leo, Mikey, or Raph. I never had to argue with anyone with wanting to be Don.

Same here, and I was rather happy about it. A jealous kid, I would have been pissed if somebody tried and challenged me!

If I were creating my technodrome forums account right this second for the first time I would use the name Donashello.

I hope someone uses that name someday :p

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this about movie Donnie, so I appologize if so. I was watching movie 1 today and a part struck me as another "Donnie smart moment". There is one scene where the group is at April's farmhouse and she needs something fixed. She shouts, "Donatello?!" And Casey comes up and says he's out practicing with the others...but there you have it! April looking for Don to be Mr. Fix-it. A small nod there to his "brains" along with other scenes I saw mentioned (truck, board game, etc).

I agree with you that OT Donatello wasn't the most aggressive but the most insistent on using his ideas or plans if there were times that the other Turtles didn't look to his advice if it was anything technical or science-related.

Donatello had a passive/anxious personality (which is more obvious in the OT's season 1 and 2), its just that since the OT revolved around sci-fi themes so often his scientific knowledge was heavily relied upon and therefore his character got more exposure. I think why some get the impression he is aggressive in the OT is because I've noticed its a pet peeve of Donatello's when the other Turtles mock his inventions (usually the trivial inventions that are used solely for the lair fail) or don't appreciate them when more often its because of those inventions/knowledge that saves the day or makes things easier (Turtle Van, Turtle Blimp, reconfiguring the transdimensional portal/any scientific device to stop Krang/Shredder, etc.)

I like this OT depiction of Donatello because even though he has a passive, introverted personality it shows that he's not a complete pushover which some like to stereotype him into. As much as the general TMNT comics/movies/other shows favor and leans toward Leo/Raph antagonism, in the OT I'm actually surprised that the show didn't have more Leo/Don conflict with these sci-fi themes since Donatello is more cautious in assessing the whole situation while Leo is more confident and focused on resolving it.

As for Michelangelo, during the OT times, he was THE most popular among kids because of his party attitude and there were numerous stories in the U.S.A. about how stupid kids were making their own nunchucks and hurting themselves. Besides the UK censorship, its could have possibly been another reason why his nunchucks were replaced in season 4 but yet Leo's and Raph's sharp weapons were not. I'm pretty sure if Leonardo or Raphael had the same popularity as Michelangelo, their weapons would have been changed too in order to protect the profitability/appeal of the TMNT brand.

You guys must seriously not remember how many times Donatello lost his temper in the original toon. Sometimes he was as hotheaded as Raph was.

I remember OT Don losing his temper some, and having an ego at times as well.

Donatello usually hovers close to favorite turtle for me, except in the 4Kids series where he made it to the top. I liked his more subdued and generally unassuming nature. It works better for me, as a science nerd myself, when his tech aspect is more grounded and there's less of the incredibly-complicated-but-ridiculous inventions.

My favorite characterization of him is Movie II. I probably could have watched an entire film based around him and Professor Perry, and they're the main reason I like Secret of the Ooze a little better than the first one.

Exclamation Hello fellow Donatello fans!

I'm sure I'm not the first person to ask this on the thread, but I thought I'd give it a shot because I'm DESPERATE!

I'm looking for the exclusive sideshow Donatello statue. I literally check ebay on a daily basis and haven't had any luck :/
I found one recently, but someone bought it before I could make an offer, and I nearly cried when I didn't get it. I've been searching for MONTHS.

So if anyone out there has one they're willing so sell, or has any info on where I can get one, it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a desperate fan in need.... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Donny's a bit less of a one dimensional character in this version of him. His crush on april, was always hinted at but wasn't really explored in other incarnations. It adds a bit to his character, and it'll be intrsting to see how he interacts with Casey as a result.

Prove it. Otherwise all I can do is assume you're another delusional shipper.

Well you can assume all you want about me, If that's the attitude you have, you really don't come across as someone who's pleasant to have a discussion with w.

And when I stated that post, the focus of my mind was on the 1st season of 2k3, that I just recently watched. In the Don and April interactions, I always felt that beyond Don's obvious admiration for April's intellectual abilities , he always seemed to pay her a number of compliments, and payed more attention to her than the other brothers did. That's why I said, I thought it was hinted at, not that he was head over heels in love.

For your information, and future random assumptions, I've never shipped any characters, in any anime. The only reason I even mentioned the Donny-April thing is because, I feel it gave him more depth as a character. Romance should never be a major aspect of any action adventure series.

And for future, don't say all you can do is "assume bla bla", because the reality of the situation, is you're not forced to assume anything. A less rude future response, would be appreciated.

I think that's just Donny, he's the gentle one. He's more attentive and considerate. I don't believe there are any implications of romantic interest there.

& I'm not going to hold your hand.
