This being done directly effects when I can bring my complete collection so the sooner I finish, the sooner you'll all get to see my new display rooms. I have a bunch of updates actually but some shipped here and some shipped to ohio PLUS I have pulls at my LCS in Ohio I need to pick up. Unfortunately, the only time I'll be back in Ohio is the first weekend of October and then for 2 weeks to move all my remaining display cases, collection stuff, clothes, etc.

Until I get back from that visit I won't be posting a true update. I'd love to post some of this stuff though and hope you don't mind waiting a bit longer!

Well everyone this isn't the normal sort of update, rather it's showing off my new display areas/ office area. Essentially where my collection will be displayed as well as where I'll work on professional and personal projects. Ultimately this remodel at my new house has kept me from updating you all on the regular but give me another month to move my crap and set it all up and you'll start getting the updates once more...

So this isn't the entry to my basement but the entry to my new office/ display area in the basement. It's a decent size but not as large as my previous. I need to do some work yet - take out the water softner (don't need it) and finish installing the carpet. The added pipes add that sewer feel I suppose though I don't love it nor do I feel like putting a ceiling up. The difference here is that is will be my toy room only. All my figures and some statues will be house in display cases here as well as my desk and computer. I'll certainly littler the walls with cels and prints just as I did in my old room. I went with the brick wallpaper again but also had those cinder block wall to deal with. I didn't want to just paint it a solid boring color and couldn't wallpaper it without building a wall. So I was inspired by the old TMNT package artwork and colored my wall similar to how it looked there minus the "breaking through the wall" look. I like how it turned out and it's just something different. Should look nice once stuff is hanging there.

Spoiler:

The first picture here is what you see when you walk into my basement and the second is the shot from the opposite side looking towards where the first pic was taken. It's a 30ft by 11ft area so there should be plenty of space. This will be my entertainment and display room. In addition to my big tv and all my home theater stuff going in here, every wall every few feet will have movie posters, statues, memorabilia, props, etc. some areas will be simple while some areas (TMNT, ghostbusters, BTTF for example) will have much more elaborate displays built. Still need to wallpaper and carpet this area very soon.

Spoiler:

I'm hoping to start showing you all Regular updates as of the third week of October! Feel free to give me thoughts, opinions, suggestions if you'd like because I'm open to creative ideas or just loot or comment. Enjoy!

interesting so far. i'm looking forward to seeing the completed project.

i get your reasoning for painting the cinderblock wall the way you did, but i gotta imagine that will become difficult to look at sooner rather than later. if you ever get board of it, you should try to do a tmnt mural...maybe a favorite panel from one of the comics.

IF I wasn't going to eventually be moving back to ohio I'd consider it. This took me a few hours vs a few days to paint. I'm a supporter of murals but can't justify the work if I A. Can't take it along or B. Will be covering it up. Again this wall will have posters & display cases against it because I do need the wall space.

I can't wait to get my collection up here and start setting it up. I miss it quite a bit

Looks amazing.

This collection looks fantastic. Congratulations. I love TMNT and also collect Real Ghostbusters, I wonder what the correlation is with that. Very impressed.

Pretty massive update coming soon. Exhausted from this move, unpacking, setting up, work, the house in general and everything I between. It's slowly calming down.

I just got done bagging and boarding 35 books/ variants I've accumulated since the last update I think 2 months ago. I'll update this post with those and a few other goodies tomorrow. I'll save posting "The Collection" in both rooms I'm displaying until is closer to being done. I've got a lot set up already, maybe 40%.

Also as soon as this stuff is out of the way I'll begin posting a sales thread to get rid of my extra stuff or things I don't want. Unfortunately like 90% of the stuff I don't want isn't turtle stuff but if anyone likes the random stuff I'll have links to eBay or wherever I sell it as I get rid of it all.

Okay so this is everything I was talking about above. This is what I have - some items were sent to my parents in Ohio which I'll have to get eventually

First I've got a whole slew of comics to add to the collection.

Spoiler:

Here we have IDW's ongoing series including some hard to find variants: #1, #2, #5, #22 (sketch, hypercolor, Eastman Hand-Drawn), #24 RI, Niagara Falls Ex, #35 Exclusive, some regular covers for 37 & 38, the Alamo #38 ex, and the SDCC 14 Lego exclusives.

Spoiler:

And continuing with IDW books: Krang Jetpack variant, IDW 30th Anniversary Con Edition (Signed by Sean Astin, Josh Peck, Ciro Nieli, Greg Cipes, Rob Paulsen and Brandon Auman), Kevin Eastman 30th Anniversary Con Edition NYCC Regular and AP Exclusives - very cool books, Annual 2014, Turtles in Time 3,4, + Sub covers, 2 TMNT/Ghostbusters variants - I LOVE the HerosHaven one, IDW's ConEdition #1 Reprint and then a few TMNT Animated books.

Spoiler:

The TurtleDoc & Exclusive poster signed

Last but not least for this update, thanks to The Great Archon_Turtle, I'm thrilled to add the Mirage Button set to my collection - #144/1000. Archon sent them to me in plastic wrap for protection and I didnt want to just shove these in a drawer so I turned it into a mini project. I found a frame with decorations in the inside, gutted it, added some red fabric to the backing, "pinned" the pins to it and there you have it. A great little display.

Spoiler:

Like i said I'll post the collection once it's done - back to it for now!

Thanks Thanks - have a question. I have A LOT of TMNT Cels (by my standard i think so anyway). Should I display a small few or should I get a nice artist binder to throw them all in and be able to flip through. I have some of my other non- TMNT cels stored like this. Id say the number is around 40? maybe more. Some original - some were cut down by the original owner to fit in 8x10 frames which is why I have my reservations - not all edges are clean.

I would suggest to display your favorite ones and put the rest in an artist binder to flip through from time to time. I think the cels are cool, but 40 on display will be taking real estate away from other types of items you can display.

Great pin set by the way!

Very nice additions!! I second the notion to display some of your favorites on the wall & put the rest in a binder to flip through!

So I'm like 90% done with my collection areas of my new house. I need one box for one shelf to display, a little tidying up and then I'll be taking all new photos and if there is enough interest I will do a video "tour" to fully appreciate the layout.

Until then (which should be soon) here is my belated Christmas update. My wife and fam got me some misc items including some tin TMNT lunch boxes, bebop & rocksteady from the nick line, a TMNT shower curtain (don't know what I'll do with this but probably use it to protect the collection while I'm painting in my office), and some other misc stuff. I'm "hard to buy for" so they give me a number, I buy, they gift to me and below is the outcome of this gifting method. Lots of comics...

In here we have lots of books from the IDW ongoing and micro series including their variants. I also have another mirage books which means I'm closing in on the complete print run of volume 1. I also have the Kevin Eastman con variants here. I only need one more.

I've been busy and must sound like a broken record but remodeling my house has eaten up lots of my time. I've begun small projects on our main floor but have been doing inventory on stuff I want to sell. Some big news is that in about 8 months we will be having a baby aka new TMNT fan. In the next few months I'll be purging duplicates and MAYBE some stuff that I've lost interest in. Keep watch for this stuff and my eventual new display!
