Just watched this. What a great episode, I enjoyed thoroughly till the end.
So much heart and humor.

This is an amazing series, bravo on a brilliant first season. Can't wait for the second season to start.

The first season hasn't even ended yet. They're just on a short break. The second season probably won't start until September.

So this kinda confused the sh*t outta me: In "The Gauntlet" Kirby says that The Kraang want to refine the mutagen because it doesn't work the same way on Earth as it does in Dimension X due to the laws of physics being different here or whatever. But Leatherhead says that he was taken back to Dimension X and mutated there... yet he's no different than any Earth mutant we've seen thus far.

Any thoughts?

Hm, good catch. Well here's a thought - LH was mutated into a humanoid form, but it's unlikely he last touched a human while in Dimension X. Maybe that's the difference here on Earth, that coming in contact with other life forms screws up the process by mixing their DNA with each other. LH could be 100% croc, just highly evolved.

Ah, good thought. Makes me wonder what its intended effect on humans is then.

Superhuman soldiers would be my guess. It's gotta be hard to conquer the universe when you're a race of soft, squishy blobs.

Of course! It all makes sense...

The Kraang found Leatherhead, knew he was a feared species on earth, and decided to evolve him to something that could be controlled. They experimented not only on his body, but they attempted to gain complete control of his brain. Leatherhead resisted, escaped, and that's why he has(had?) his episodes of rage.

You guys are really one to something!

Kinda random, but this episode is currently on the "most watched" list in the kids section of Comcast OnDemand. Pretty cool.

That's cool. And it makes sense why the human transformations keep getting messed up while the animal to mutant transformations seem to work.

Great episode. Definitely loved the "HE GRABBED ME, BY THE FACE!"

And I also loved the reaction of Leo and Donnie when they thought Raphael got his head cut off. Too funny.

Leatherhead in da house!!
They approached him pretty much the same as in 2k3 series. Good episode, but gimmick of Leatherhead turning from beast to gentle giant was played too much.

Continuity question, 12 years later. Just now occurred to me that Leatherhead stole the power cell 6 months before the events of this episode.

Were The Kraang already stranded on Earth when the show started? I don’t recall their portal ever working until the end of season 1, but it’s been a while since I did a full series marathon.

Yes, the Kraang didn't make use of their portal until episode 17 "TCRI," having stolen the power cell back from the Shellraiser in the previous episode. After that point, they had full access to the resources of Dimension X.

Ok thank you. So LH took the portal out of commission about 4 months before the start of the show, by my count.

Only realized this because this episode was adapted to a kids book called “Mikey’s Monster” and I’ve been reading it to the lad. He loves it and we just watched the episode for the first time today. Still holds up!
