Why?

It'd be nice to finally see a universe outside for Mirage with Shadow. heck...as his kid sis it's perfect. She's called "Shadow" because she's always right behind Casey.

just finished watching the episode and its officially my favorite of the season so far. caseys vigilante debut did not disappoint. I was skeptical of a kid casey at first but now he's on his way to being my second favorite version of the character. he even looks badass in the theme song standing silently in the background. Even as a teen casey proved himself to be a capable fighter, almost too good at times but I guess that's what bravery and being (almost) fearless does for you. the fight scene with raph was very well done. I especially like how he seems to be a little more clever then usual here with all the gear he's made. the call backs and homages to past tmnt were awesome not only because they were unexpected but because it showed the obvious love the minds behind the show have for the characters and their history. overall the whole episode was really a well done updated version of rapheal # 1. also I'm very happy that they didn't waste anytime introducing casey to the rest of the guys. I was expecting them to stretch it out but glad to see they got it out of the way.
final thoughts
-loved seeing the whole team fight together for the first time.
-always great to see splinter show that he's a ninja master.
-the turtles brotherly interactions were great as always.
-thankfully they didn't bother with the love triangle at least for this episode
-this looks like the beginning of a beautiful bromance

I think they made him 2 tough 2 fast.. That was my only problem with this episode. He held his own against raph who has been training his whole life..

I completely agree with you on that point. That's all I was gonna say, but then I realized, you could kinda justify it. When Raph's angry like that, he's not at his best. Across the universes, this has been a constant. His anger clouds his judgement, slows him down, strips him of his focus, etc. Maybe we'll see him whip Casey's butt in a future episode (over taking issue with Donnie, perhaps?).

I've always seen Angel as the other universes' answer to "Shadow"

but why not let his sister be angel who would be attached to Casey in which case Casey nicknames "Shadow"

I just assume Casey's a natural fighter.

Though seeing his thinly shaped breadstick body being tossed and hammered savagely by Raph, I'm surprised he didn't break in two. Not bad Jones.

Maybe derpril isn't a clone at all... it's a failed 'version' of her the Kraang made before they made April herself, a perfected version of... whatever it is they were working on.

That would be a little more horrific than a clone, at least IMO.

Desslok: I know you have had it for a while, but I never complimented you for your sig... I just love it so much, haha.

I agree with you, but I actually thought more about it during the subway chase/fight, he just seemed a bit to skilled. But the episode has far more on the plus side, though.

I don't know how much time has passed since "Target: April O'Neil", but I guess it makes sense if Casey has been training his fighting skills ever since, and first goes into vigilante-mode, when he feels ready.

Just because someone knows martial arts doesn't mean they can't lose a fight against a non-practitioner. There's been a lot of cocky karate Black Belts getting their asses whooped when deliberately looking for trouble on a Saturday night.

Dude, that is an amazing theory. I bet you're right.

Well, on that note, Ciro said on Facebook that this aired 'out of order', so maybe there's a scene in a future episode intended to air prior to this one that shows him doing exactly that.

just saw the episode and I was pretty amazed...I love this one!..the homage to the first movie was great and watching it I immediatelly wondered if the animators would watch and rewatch that scene while working that one out.this show is animated for the most part in india, right?I think to remember that up to 20 or 30 per cent of an episode was animated in canada and the majority of the animated footage is done over in india...
but my mind immediatelly pointed out:aww they messed up the way raph is stopping his workout on the roof and touching the wallhahaha..in the movie he goes one hand after another..you can sort of feel with the motion when watching the moviebut thats only nitpicking and doesn't impact at all how nice it was to see them palying off of that scene
all in all, I really liked how casey wound up with the turtles and how they fought along side...I only asked myself why it was important for them to catch that scanning footbot before he GIVES AWAY their location when he surely must have had the possibillity of emailing that info away or something along that line...I mean they are ROBOTS...FIGHT ROBOTS even.hahaha..but of course it could be that they don't have coverage down in the sewers...
love that the toitles are back!
oh and I agree..raphs anger makes him a lesser skilled fighter.you could see that in the comics, in 2k3 and here

But didn't he say "my anger makes me a better fighter!" in Turtle Temper? Guess he's just deluding himself.

Jester, lovin that notion. Can't just go out and read the comics, and I've always been interested in the Shadow character, so hoping you're on to something there. My first thought was that she could be Angel but seems like your Muse got more sac time than mine did the other night. Sucks that they aired this ep out of order. Next week's ep is listed as 208, at least on Wikipedia. Someone pointed out that the Kirtzmen sceen shown last year had some sort of caption during the preview identifying it as ep 8 of s2. Hoping we get to see a bit of Jones training in the following episode since I'm guessing the guys haven't met him yet in that one.

Yes. Isn't it basically the lesson Splinter is trying to teach him

The thought crossed my mind of a merger as well.
