The biggest things that I didn't like:

1. That fat black April

2. The Turtles going to school at the end of the movie (thank god the show barely focused on this)

3. Splinter didn't have much a backstory yet, if he has no connection to Shredder in the next film that will suck.

4. Bebop/Rocksteady weren't humans in this incarnation.

Unless we're talking reincarnation here, how could he? What, did Splinter poop in his dinner last time he visited New York or something?

That's probably the lamest aspect of these characters you could be attached to, and that's really saying something considering how they were always lame characters. It mattered so little in the FW cartoon that David Wise, the guy who wrote their origin episode in the first place, forgot about it.

A Bebop that is not black prior to mutation is not my Bebop. That's Bebop in name only. I want black people to be represented the right away (not with April), but a character who has always been black. If Bebop ain't black, I don't want it.

#NotMyBebop.

And by "always" you mean maybe 15 minutes across three episodes out of more than a 100 in which that character appears.

The thing about fat black April is I actually liked her character, she's good. Just not April. They should've named her Soshana or whatever Cubed named her before the movie came out It's as if in TMNT 2 imagine if Keno was named Casey Jones, people would've hated him but since he was Keno people were fine with him replacing Casey Jones.

Same with Rise April, she doesn't feel like April either all hyperactive and she's not fat there, but I like that character design. But it's not like the two black april's have anything in common, MM April is shy and insecure, which is unique to her and I like that.

April might've been inconsistent before but at least she mostly felt like the character, the only exception is 2012 April which I absolutely loath and will take Fat Black April anyday over her psychic BS of a character she was made into.

Yeah I appreciate any version of April that’s kind of a weirdo or outcast. It makes sense that that kind of person would just start spending most of their free time with mutant turtles lol. It’s really hard to buy the versions that are just normal, beautiful, well-adjusted women doing that. Especially the ones where she’s a famous news anchor haha.

I agree that 2012 April mostly sucks. I guess if you want to do the writers’ jobs for them, you can assume that she always felt ostracized without realizing it, growing up with alien DNA, and her father probably sheltered her knowing the Kraang were out there, so she probably had an odd upbringing. But this all headcanon on my part, the writers never show any of this.

2012 April has a great personality. It's just all the Kraang backstory stuff that doesn't really work well. In terms of her character and interaction with others, she's one of the best.

Mutant Mayhem did very little for me - I can’t even finish it in a sitting, but I am admittedly curious to see how much they try to course correct. I expect at least a bit of that.

It’s not like I’m holding my breath to love it but I could see it being enjoyable if they photo polish the script way more and bring back some missing elements. The former is actually possible as well bc I’m pretty sure they had to rewrite the first movie late in the game to remove a ton of botched high school elements.

Lmfao. The fat black April. That killed me ?????

But I agree. I’m all for change, but this was ridiculous and hard to get past for me.

Really? Then what were they? Let me guess: a rhino and warthog that instantly became sentient and knew English right after mutation?

No, they were mutated as babies and learned English from their "big brother" Superfly who raised them and who had learned to speak before from their "father" Baxter Stockman.

I kinda wonder why he chose those particular animals. An alligator that can speak and be reasoned with is still... You know... An alligator?

But when Splinter and the Turtles become sentient...
