It helps to realize that it's the effect of the internet and it's not really indicative of everyone. A lot of discussions, comment sections, forums and so on are just the same group of people and not really a huge sample of the country like we tend to assume, something I realized a couple years ago when I noticed most comment sections on any big site were the same voices every time. Most people who go on the internet and read something don't comment on it. Otherwise, with the hundreds of millions with internet in this country, comment sections and forums and the like would be way past the thousands of comments, instead of hundreds. Hell, some of the people who do talk about things are from other countries, such as yourself, diluting that number even further.

I don’t even know why this is a political issue at all. Sexual abuse is gross no matter who did it. I don’t give a crap what party they affiliate with.
I agree, but you get some folks on both sides who are generally more worried about political implications for reasons ranging from practical to stupid.

Here in Alabama, the whataboutism and protection of the “party” is astounding in connection with Moore. People would rather vote for a sleezy old Bible Thumper than a Democrat because “Teh Libs!!!!”

So freakin gross.
I sort of expected that from Alabama, though. It's deep, deep red territory. If anything, I'm shocked the race has tightened as much as it apparently has since this came out. If that comes out as condescending or looking down on your home state, it's really just meant to be a statement on how far tilted it is. Though I'm sure there are plenty of people there concerned about the implications if this guy is elected.

I agree with this, but it certainly leaves impression.

Brigitte Nielsen says Stallone was with her all the time in Vegas when he was shooting OTT as they were newlyweds so I guess he might be innocent.

Add Matt Lauer to the list, he's been fired by NBC this morning, over sexual misconduct.

Apparently the New York Times was working on the story, and NBC decided to jump in front of it.

Complaint received on Monday, fired on Wednesday...that's a hell of a turnaround.

Although, if this happened in 2014, why not report it then? Is a major network news anchor as well protected as someone like, say, Harvey Weinstein?

Yes. They're all protected. Time, money, and effort have been invested in these guys, and their "owners" aren't going to throw all that away easily.

Why victims frequently don't report against powerful men has been exhaustively explained, many times. Generally they're the target of retribution for speaking out, blacklisted from their careers and potentially dragged through the mud in public for the rest of their lives while the abuser gets off scot free. It's only very recently that it's become "safer" to come forward at all. And even then, you've got people questioning their timing and obfuscating the real issue. Everything is stacked against the victim.

It's just that these are the real criminal scum among society. They need to be taken out back and beaten with a stick like the old days.

In fact they should bring back public hanging like the old west or the guillotines from France:

Matt Lauer, that's a shame... Like, not far off from the Bill Cosby-surprising, "Wait, YOU too??" kind of shame... Not one I'd have guessed.

At this point, maybe anyone else hiding in the woodwork of similar incidences aught to be considering stepping up and claiming accountability for their own actions before someone else forces them too.

I'm almost starting to miss when big names were largely only mentioned in this section because they were dead.
