IDW Publishing TMNT 10th Anniversary

On Tuesday, 24 August 2021, the IDW Publishing TMNT comics can observe its 10th Anniversary. It survived much longer than Archie, Welsh Publishing, Creator's Syndicate, Fleetway, Division Comics, Dreamwave, Panini, IDW-Nickelodeon (those based on the 2012 cartoon) and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics.

10 years have flown by. It’s odd when you realize the series started in 2011 even before the Nick cartoon debuted the next year in 2012.

Tom Waltz did a great job with the series and hopefully he can come back writing it as soon as he finishes The Last Ronin.

I really hope Waltz comes back. I have been seriously getting into the IDW run for the past few months after getting a copy of 100 and being drawn in. The contrast between what I see in the first 100 (in hardback 9 now) and the last few months of comics is kind of like whiplash. I love the current authors artwork and I am sure her writing would work in more of a shoujo type setting but it is not flattering in an action comic and her pay offs leave a lot to be desired. I was extremely angry about the battle of the bands, wtf happened to Bebop and Rocksteady to make them quitters like that?

I think not counting Mirage, IDW has surpassed every other TMNT comic in time now. Archie ran I think 9 years from 1988-1995?

The Archie Comics were published from August 1988 until March 1996 (mini comic series included).

IDW has since long surpassed all TMNT comic series except Mirage–Image. Also remember, Mirage–Image has been on breaks several times.

And technically Mirage hasn't actually ended yet, just unofficially, but if my workings out are correct the 'active' publishing duration for Mirage/Image is about 27 years 3 months, although that being said the latest issue of Volume 4 released in May 2014, 30 years after V1#1 released in May 1984 so we could just round it up to that.

Oof, but it's true.

#1-100 and most the side content (not you, "Casey & April") was great.

It's crazy to think it's been 10 years now. Even with IDW's ups and downs, IDW's TMNT has been some of the best in the history of comics.

I still feel like Turtles Forever and TMNT12K were just a couple years ago.

I think the best thing about IDW TMNT was it's consistency. I give a ton of credit to the team for that, because it's so rare these days.

If the storytelling itself appealed to me, I'd probably consider it one of the greatest modern runs in comics. So congrats to those of you who eat, or even ate this series up. You were treated well.

To me, 2005 was just yesterday. I have never aged mentally since that moment.
