The only ep I didn't care for in the season was the Shakespeare episode, but the last few minutes with his daughter was ok. I also didn't care for the transgender space pirate episode, but some parts of it was ok.
So out of a 10 episode season, I enjoyed 8 episodes fully. Even if they also kinda retconed Gorns into the movie Aliens down to the chestburst stuff. |

Coolest announcement from SDCC imo.

I actually really dig LD. Take it for what it is.
I'm not sure who it's target audience is, it's pissed off a lot of old fans and has too many deep cut references for new fans to get. I marked out for the season 3 trailer. Martok and DS9! Massive pop from me. I think I spotted Vash as well. Not sure a animated/live action crossover works.

Now they're excited to share that a "genderqueer" actor is joining the show:
https://trekcentral.net/exclusive-ne...-worlds/?amp=1 Do they even need to bother with writing scripts anymore?

Poor Star Trek - it was so shat upon by those gender-neutered 'tards...I wonder, if it will be able to recover some of its former honor?

Remember when Star Trek was about having a black woman, a Chinese man, and a Russian on the bridge? What happened.

S2 set to "go crazy."
https://www.darkhorizons.com/strange...t-to-go-crazy/ Yes, that's just what the show needed. To "go crazy."

I've watched the first 4 or so episodes of Season 1. It's probably the closest thing to modern Trek that I could embrace, but it does have that neo-sensibility all over it.
For example, Pike isn't as much a Captain as he is that "ideal white guy" who, instead of giving militaristic orders is this sort of soft encourager who stands proudly in the background while his overly, extremely, nonsensically diverse team perfectly shows off all of their skills, executed in perfect "socialist fashion". And in some ways that's okay, but unfortunately in modern days it's a caricature of sorts. The modern white guy by Hollywood standards - either a natural villain in every way or is supposed to get out of everyone's way and stand proudly in the background with his arms crossed while admiring anyone who is not a white guy do there jobs perfectly. I'd like this show if I didn't now have years of Star Trek where you can't escape the exaggerated social justice and personal melodrama. But at the same time this one has the core of Star Trek on it more than the other shows do - like the spacedock negotiation scene in one of the early episodes, or some of the moral imperative moments are decent. I should probably watch the rest of season 1 to see how it unfolds. |

I feel like almost everyone who loves Star Trek has the same story, yet it's still a personal story to everyone. You know... like you meet the TNG cast and tell them "OMG my family watched you guys every week for years. We loved your show - it was a household staple".
It's hard for lifelong fans to sort of have the epiphany that their personal story about required family viewing with Star Trek's was also most people's story. And I think that's also part of why nu-Trek is so galvanizing. You want to stay loyal to the "progressive" brand that you love. But then you find that it's just a caricature. But I'll try to get back to finishing that season here sometime soon - which is saying a lot because I can't bring myself to even pirate Discovery to sit through that $#!(show any more than I have. Hell - the Orville is, ironically, less of a caricature of Star Trek than most new Trek is. Wrap our head's around that..... |

Episode 1 of season 2 is out and it's horrible. I mean awful. The story is juvenile and Carol Kane is nails on chalkboard. Doing the fairy routine from Scrooged doesn't work when you're 90 years-old -- it's not cute anymore. Oh, and Spock cries about 3 times in the episode.

Episode 3 is literally the Khan descendant time-traveling to 2023 Canada with an alternate timeline Kirk to talk to Khan as a small child, then falling in love with alternate timeline Kirk.
So, so stupid.

See - continuity dabs used to be fun. Because there were these sort of obvious uses for it. But now they do nonsense like this and it's completely riduclous.

Musical episode is out now.
Some of the songs are catchy, but I couldn't help noticing the episode forgot it's own rules whenever a scene tensed up and they let music play but the crew don't start signing...when the rules established in the plot are that the crew are aware the music exists, they hear it, and they burst into song.

I don't imagine I'll watch the latest episode. I don't think it could possibly do anything but upset me.
