Wow. Great job to the producers, writers, director and actors in the show. I wouldn't have predicted this in a million years but I'm glad it got the nomination.

They are up against South Park, Futurama, Archer and Bob's Burgers never heard of the last 2 so could be tough with South Park and Futurama but wait No Simpsons, blimy! thats a first for them to be not nominated.

The other nominations are named in their entirety for the show itself, I'm beginning to wonder someone is confusing the episode "The Manhattan Project" for the name of the show all together.

Because if the show itself is nominated, that's even more awesome.

No they're not. Each nominee is listed by Show Title and specific episode title.

So after reading a bit on it, the Daytime Emmy Awards nominates the series for a Children's Animated Show (surprised no one mentioned how Nick TMNT was nominated back in 2013 by the way, yet WASN'T nominated at all in 2014), but these Primetime Emmy Awards nominate only a single episode/special (less than an hour) within any animated series (children's or adults'), and NOT the series as a whole.

The abridged version of the rules are on Wikipedia and it states:

There are two categories for "Outstanding Animated Program", this category, as well as one for "Programming One Hour or More", where the time refers to the broadcast time. Each series is allowed to submit a single episode or a special, and those programs are judged. For the individual people who receive nominations, a series is allowed to submit a maximum of 21 names alongside the episode, including a maximum of four directors, a maximum of three writers and a maximum of fourteen producers.[2]

For many of the Primetime Emmy Award categories, the rules specifically say that animated programs can not be nominated, although some of the Creative arts categories do allow animated programs to be submitted for consideration.[2] However, there have occasionally been programs submitted in the Primetime categories. For example, The Simpsons submitted the episodes "A Streetcar Named Marge" and "Mr. Plow" in the "Outstanding Comedy Series" category in 1993. However, they were not nominated.[3]

So apparently... the series as a whole could be great or horrible, but as long as that one episode/special is good and the committee likes it, it can get nominated.

Considering that "The Manhattan Project" was deemed as the submission for these Emmy awards for a year's worth of episodes, seems to imply that OT nostalgia was a huge factor for it since that was the main event for that special. The worms were not too great, and at that point of the series, TigerClaw was more of a "mutant of the week" before we saw his welcomed vengeful side in "The Wrath of Tiger Claw", so what was left then...? ...It seems like this special tickled the committee's nostalgia bone in all the right places I guess. **shrug**

Well I suppose it could be nominated for nothing at all. I'm glad It got nominated. Any recognition is good.
