I think it was more than just her nerdy looks. Her voice was a bit annoying.

Seriously, did Irma appear in any issue outside of the "we didn't get the character model or style guide so we'll just make something up" Velma from Scooby Doo appearance in Return of the Shredder?

Nope, they didn't use many cartoon-based characters after the adaptations.

The outfit reason was enough for me. Yellow jumpsuit = puke. But, she was just a less shallow character in general, and therefore more admirable. If you think about it, shallow characterizations were the cornerstone of the classic 'toon.

ok, you need to expand on this one? I think what made April so shallow in the old toon was her one tract mind and determination no matter the cost to get a story.

And let's not forget the episode where a bunch of sailors on their furlough start hooting and hollering at her.

At this point, I just want April to turn to her and say, "Uh... Irma? Maybe you'd actually have a relationship if you didn't want to nail the first thing that came along."

Adding to that her Robosexuality and beastial relationship with Donatello, she's freakin' effed up.
beastial relationship with donatello wtf?

Oh gosh. Looks-wise, Irma IS a human version of Jeanette the Chipette!!!

However, their personalities are VERY different. And I prefer Jeanette's.

For some reason, I think Jeanette came first. So why would they clone her looks as those of a human? Especially one who thinks and acts so different.

That's who she's always reminded me of.

Actually, I forgot how terribly annoying Irma was in the earlier episodes. When I'm remembering episodes that didn't piss me off terribly, it's always the pilot mini-series (before Irma showed up) or the CBS episodes. So, yes, she was initially so annoying that I never would have liked her if that was all I could remember. But, in the CBS episodes, she was consistently the not-too-smart smart-ass who just wouldn't pass up a chance to meet men. She was a whiny bimbo before that.

You are correct. The chipettes first appeared in 1983. They were only meant to be female counterparts to Alvin & his crew though. So, when they were thinking up Irma, I have a feeling they were thinking Velma from Scooby-Doo when the word, 'geeky', was said, but wanted to avoid making her the chubby girl everyone makes fun of (as that would be just plain mean and reason enough for me to lose all interest). So, instead, they made her the awkward pretty girl... meaning she'd be more obviously pretty if she'd lose the glasses and ponyta-- I mean, pompom on top of her head... And, she'd probably have to stop dressing like she's homeless too.

That's because the CBS episodes are just better and more interesting than when the show was on weekday afternoons on fox kids.
But yeah I was thinking about how much each character changed from the weekday episodes to the cbs ones I even laugh at some of the things Burne Thompson says in the cbs episodes.

She's actually a man in that scene. As in, it's not really Irma but... I forget his name but the delivery guy that was Mutagen Man! That ain't no regular canister she's holding! (He's holding).

I found that site amusing for about two seconds. But, after considering how much effort went into putting it all together... I have nothing but time on my hands, and even I'm too busy to setup a pointless little game like that.
