Sonequa Martin-Green has been cast as the lead character in ST Discovery. All is known about the character is that she's a Lt. Commander.

James Frain has been cast as Sarek in ST Discovery.... *blinks* I just can't picture him as a stoick and logical Vulcan. Im so used to seeing him as an evil dude...

Also Discovery has been delayed again.... no word on the new release date.

Gonna go with "lame." They really are terrified to have a Star Trek anything without Kirk, Spock or an Enterprise.

Oh GTFO, Discovery. We don't need a young Sarek. Haven't those abominable Abrams movies given us our fill of young prequel crap?

I still don't get what this is. Is this a full new series with real seasons like Voyager, Enterprise, etc....or is this just some short mini-series or something?

CBS All Access... The streaming frontier...
These are the pending voyages of the Starship Discovery.
Its long delayed mission:
To revisit familiar worlds...
To trot out old characters; old civilizations...
To safely go where 13 films and 5 other shows have gone before!

My guess is they want Star Trek to see the same success in a revival that all these new Star Wars films are having. That was the original point of the 2009 Star Trek reboot in the first place.

But now we're 3 films later and box office declines for each consecutive movie leave them at a standstill. I know they're still making a fourth, but they're probably hoping this series takes off. If not, then I don't know what they will do.

Star Trek is still going in comics from IDW, but I don't care enough to check them out.

Yeah, if it's like the new movies then I'll check this show out. If it's like the old stuff then I'm out.

Sonequa Martin-Green has a cool presence about her...she reminds me of a young Angela Bassett. Definitely strikes me as being a captain moreso than Archer did.

The inclusion of Sarek seems a little forced.

Filming hath begun! Or production anyways. Here's a behind the scenes video. That captain's chair looks rather uncomfortable.

I don't understand why they feel the compulsive need to constantly change what the Klingons look like every new series now.

At this point in time they should either look like Worf or they should have no ridges on their foreheads at all (after the episode of Enterprise explained that due to a viral outbreak, any Klingons exposed would lose their ridges for about 100 years).
