The show will end with season three. Reportedly 'always the plan'

one thing that bothers me with this is stewart. is he just acting older, or is that how he REALLY sounds now? the character almost sounding like they'll die if they take another step isn't great...

Oh, thank goodness. Hopefully it will end without ruining any more TNG characters, but I wouldn't hold my breath about it.

I'm sure the general idea is to use STP to prop up these characters other than Picard, then Rios will probably become reinstated in Starfleet and command a new ship and that'll be the new show.

Well with Stewarts age its best if they end here. This show really should have come out around 2011-2012 when he was still young enough to act and get more of a performance out of him. Sadly, "Picard" came out about a decade too late to be more of a natural continuation.

And yeah we'll certainly be seeing these side characters from Picard pop up in future Star Trek shows, that much is obvious.

Oh god... what if it's, at the end of STP Rios and crew become recruited into Section 31, and that becomes the Section 31 show? Joined by Georgiou somehow? Maybe this is the more likely outcome.

Patrick Stewart is an old man, as in he's so old most people his age are expected to go at any moment. Of course this show isn't going to continue after a third season, it is marketed around him being the star and making it go on indefinitely makes no sense if he might not be around for much longer. Maybe it'll have a spin-off starring Captain Drunk Solo, Commander Desert Junkie and Angsty Whiny Samurai Romulan if the ratings (or whatever metric Paramount+ uses for success) are good, but a fourth season starring Stewart seems like way too much of a risky move.

Yeah, that's basically what I said in the last couple posts. You know, use STP seasons 1-3 to rub a little Patrick Stewart over these guys, then send them off. Whether it's on a new Federation starship (it really better be) or more edgy darkness Section 31 type stuff, we'll see. And they can still have Patrick Stewart show up for guest spots here and there, permitting. And if he dies IRL, they'll probably lunge at some kind of "omg, Admiral Picard died!" storyline to boost those creorganization,

In any case, imagine what takes the most minimal amount of budget, minimal amount of set building... and they will choose that path.

Is it weird I can't remember the names of any of the new side characters they introduced? I think ones name was Rafi or something? I don't even know the others names.

Yeah, Raffi's name is the only one that stuck. Basically I think of them as Druggee/deadbeat mom one, Down on his luck Mexican former Starfleet captain, murderous one (the cyberneticist lady), gay Romulan Legolas, and um... I think that's it.

Now try naming the bridge crew of STD without cheating and looking at IMDB. And that show is in the middle of season FOUR. Imagine watching season four of TNG, and not knowing Geordi's name, or Worf's.

These new characters make Travis Mayweather look good. And that's saying a lot given he was treated like a glorified extra for most of the show.

Very true. They really did Travis Mayweather dirty. He began as kind of this wide-eyed 2nd generation pioneer... and then they proceeded to do absolutely nothing with him.

But we at least know his name.

He should have had his current look back then:

He looks much better now. I hate to say it, but during Enterprise he really was just, "a generic black guy" just there among more interesting characters. Somehow though he's now not the most forgettable main character in a Trek show ever.

Mayweather was a great character! Super likeable, he needed more dedicated episodes. Probably would've gotten them too had Enterprise gone 7 seasons. I hated the concept of Enterprise when it was airing and abandoned it completely. Then some time around 2010 during the glut of good sci-fi anywhere I watched the whole series on Netflix and loved it - it became possibly my second favorite Trek show.

Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended for two weeks from The View for her holocaust remarks. Don't think this is the kind of press Paramount needs with Picard looming. Especially since season two is leaning heavily on dystopian alt.right alternative timelines

Everybody on the left is like, "I don't understand! She apologized! This isn't fair!"

No, she didn't apologize. She did the opposite of apologizing. She went on Colbert and further explained how it was just nobody understanding what she said, that there's no such thing as racism to her if the skin tone is about the same.

The irony. When they cancel someone right-leaning, they either ignore the apology, say it wasn't good enough, or go harder because they use the apology as admittance of guilt.

**** that ****. Fire Whoopi Goldberg immediately.

Personally I'm not a fan of people losing their jobs over stuff like this. Everybody says stupid sh*t; sometimes it's private and sometimes it's public but we ALL say stupid, horrible sh*t.

HOWEVER, considering how The Left handles these kinds of things, typically - fire the person, "cancel" the person, harass the person, and create an environment where the person is never allowed to work again - in the interest of fairness the only correct thing to do would indeed be to fire her.

What Roseanne Barr tweeted was way less bad, and she had the show she created and her entire career taken away from her over it. If what's good for the goose is in fact good for the gander, then there needs to be a consistency of standards.

Of course, we know that isn't how Liberals operate. Liberals deserve "tolerance and understanding", while Conservatives need to be locked up and silenced. That's the playbook.

In a perfect world, I sincerely don't think this kind of thing ever needs to be taken as far as all that, where people start losing their jobs and stuff. BUT, I also don't like double standards. So yeah, by rights she should be fired since so many other have been. Fair is fair.
