This has 0 to do with any fans or fanboys or anything. It has been Harrison Ford himself cheerleading this all along.

Then he definitely needs a nap before he Ric Flair's himself.
I mean I'm all for people doing what they wanna do for as long as they wanna do it, but at some point it unavoidably becomes very pointedly sad on its face, is all. Like I've been saying for 20 years, "If Ric Flair wants to wrestle until he's 100, or literally drop dead in the ring, that's entirely his business." And part of me does sincerely feel that way, still. To a point. Then a couple weeks ago he had yet another "farewell match" and it was pathetic and sad and now I'm forced to admit that yeah, at some point we need someone of sound mind in the room to tell these people to sit down and go play quietly before they break a hip, or worse. Or like I strongly supported Stallone during the "Rocky Balboa" run-up; I supported the idea when others said it was "too late" and "pointless" and "Rocky V already killed the franchise for good" and all that, and I still think it's a fantastic movie and was well worth making. And that was true Then. I don't especially need any more Rocky movies going forward, though, either, huge fan of the character or no. It's all been said and it's all been done, at this point any push to do more is for entirely shallow reasons. We already had the "If you're viable you can keep doing whatever you want for as long as you can" Rocky movie; the message was sent, anything he does with it Now is just trying to milk the cow. Time to move on and walk away for good. With dignity. At the end of the day, "Want To", "Can", and "Should" are all VERY different things. And a responsible person of any age realizes when "Should" or "Should Not" supersedes "Want" and "Can".

Hasn't tested well enough for Disney to settle on the ending...

Of course, the director WOULD deny it, but...
I'll take Mangold at his word. Probably better him than Spielberg after the way Crystal Skull played out.

As if making another movie with 80 old Indy, after Crustal Flop was a great idea.

Just end it with Crystal Skull. No one asked for another Indy movie.

Screenings absolutely happened. and with Disney's track record, I gar-un-tee that they all sucked.

The rumors are entirely believable, but it's pretty hardcore for Mangold to come out and state, literally without smokescreening that "there haven't been any screenings".
All I know is that if any of it turns out to be true when the movie launches, Mangold aint gonna live that one down. |

Seems like a thing pretty easily debunked if there really was screenings. You know, by all the hundreds of people who would have gone to them. Pretty sure the NDAs would just say you can't talk about the movie, not that you have to say you never attended the screening at all.

Seems like maybe no time travel and the de-aged Indy will just be for basically the opening prologue.

Also, seeing some scuttlebutt that the title might be "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." Not sure, though.

I wonder why they made Helena Indy's goddaughter instead of just his daughter? It's not like it would be hard to believe Indy had another child we didn't see before.
