They are. In the video Zarius posted, you clearly see that stuff going on, and Timm and some other guy talk about it. The whole thing is completely intentional.

You would think after the backlash Bruce Timm got for the Killing Joke he would tone down on this stuff, but no he's doing it again. Funny thing is he knows fans hate this, if you looked all around at the reviews or forums with people commenting on his stuff they hate the pandered disturbing romance.

I don't mind legitimate ships, they want to have Nightwing kiss Barbara or Starfire or whatever, that's fine. But doing something like this is just wrong. Bruce Timm needs to get his goddamn fantasies out of officially published material and keep it to himself or fanfiction.

The only people who complained were "geek culture" websites full of SJWs and other alt-left people who have likely never seen a DCU animated movie in their lives, let alone buy one. This was actually one of their most successful DTVs since the line started beating out the sales of the last few years worth of DTVs.

It would have been a big marketing deal to get people to buy this movie who don't follow their releases usually. I doubt it.

I'm guessing marketing didn't allow them to since DC had always rejected the idea of a new movie in the DCAU even though Timm used to try, he would mention that on interviews.

Saw the trailor, it looks decent, but there seems to be a lot of sex in this from Nightwing and Harley doing the naughty to Harley working as a waiter and getting her butt slap while wearing a short skirt complete with panty shot. No way could they have got away with this in the old BTAS tv series.

Rauch sounds more adult (and...throaty?) than Tara Strong's work in the Arkham games. Looks like they got someone other than Diane Pershing for Poison Ivy as well.

I'm most surprised that they got Loren Lester for Nightwing, especially since the character has had no speaking parts in anything DCAU related post-New Batman Adventures, despite a stealth cameo in a Justice League Unlimited episode.

This.... looks like it coulda just been an updated episode of the original series. Like a one-time thing or whatever. Ivy and plant dude want to rule the world with plants, Batman needs Harley's help. They fight. Kinda don't see the reason for this to be feature length.

Jesus Christ, what the hell is wrong with Bruce Timm? This is something out of a fanservice anime, I don't expect to see this in a DC animated film even if it is aimed at adults.

And Harley and Nightwing have sex? I think it's time Bruce Timm retired. I shudder to think if he's constantly trying to one-up each new movie he does with sexual fanservice and pandering.

My respect for Bruce Timm has gone down in recent years because of this.

you see worse in Assault on Arkham. In that movie you see Harley's Bare ass with a joker tattoo on her butt cheek. Than she bones Deadshot

Yeah I remember that, but at least in that all the characters were older since it was based on the Arkham games (and to a lesser extent the comics) and aimed at adults. This movie uses the iconic Bruce Timm B:TAS designs.

There was also a Catwoman short that came with one of the movies where she unzipes her top and sports massive cleavage before she uses her claws to scratch a gangsters face. I forgot which movie it came with though.

Well if you were Nightwing, and got caught by Harley Quinn, and while tied up(On the bed), and you saw that, would you say no? It would be pretty hard to say no to sex with Harley Quinn.

You're talking about Nightwing, a good guy, sleeping with a psychopath like Harley. While there's no creepy age gap like there was with Batman/Batgirl, it's still rather odd and makes no sense. Also this is like the first and only time Dick and Harley were ever paired together in anything even if it's a one night stand thing.

Yeah...this is the same guy who, in the comics, went and boned a crippled Barbra Gordon the night before he was due to marry Starfire. Babs read him the riot act afterward when he tried inviting her to the wedding right after sex.
