But...what is the point of this? Aside from being a cash grab, that is. Like, what is...this show going to bring to the table in 2022 other than nostalgia and memberberries and "I clapped because I remember Al and Peggy being mean to each other!!!" type stuff. |

I mean, Married with Children, as an animated show, and going with possibly zanier plots cause hey, it's animated and you can go nuts.... is pretty much Family Guy right?

Yeah, I agree. It's going to be like all the other adult animated family sitcoms we've got already.

Well it’s interesting but since they all agreed to come back I’d prefer they revive it in live action like they did with Roseanne and others.
Unless it’s supposed to take place right after the original run with no time passed. I don’t know I still rather have a straightforward revival.

I'd much prefer a live action continuation. I bet the thing with this is that it will be status quo for the Bundys and they'll be playing about the same ages as around the middle of the show... but it'll magically be 2022 instead.

If I had to guess, it's animated because the cast aren't entirely thrilled with how they look nowadays. Ed's pretty fat, Christina had her whole breast cancer and double-mastectomy thing... Katey Segal's holding up alright but I mean, they're all pretty far from their prime, and I think they're a bit sensitive to that. It would be impossible to do the show in live-action without being overwhelmed constantly with how, "Jesus... these people don't even look like themselves anymore." It would be incredibly distracting, and probably depressing.
However, the cast all still get along and like to work with each other whenever they can. There's been a few spin-offs pitched over the years but they never happened for one or other reason; I believe the last reboot pitch failed in part because Ed was busy with "Modern Family", even though that wasn't the biggest or only reason. So I guess it's a case of, "If we're ever gonna do it, it has to be Now", but tempered with the reality of "Wow, they all kinda look distractingly bad now so it probably shouldn't be live action." So an animated series is a decent enough compromise. Might be fun, we'll see what they do with it.

I think a movie might be the best way to go. In and out, them in 2022.
