Two upcoming Batman feature films, a Superman movie finally on the way, The Authority and my beloved Swampy finally getting the treatment they deserve, a Joker sequel….I really couldn’t be more pleased with WB’s upcoming slate.

Especially because the MCU is crapping the bed. Paradigm shift coming right up.

Gunn handed in a first draft for the studio to put into production before the writers strike happened.

Serious question: What do people expect from a new Superman film? Even though I grew up with 90s comics, I always liked the more light-hearted, cheerful versions of Superman the most. I thought Cavill's portrayal was way too gloomy. I guess Chris Evans' Captain America is how I'd like a new Superman.

I think Man of Steel was... 80% the Superman movie* I wanted to see (granted, he didn't really BECOME Superman until the end). For that 20% that was off, I'd just say improve the "fun." And if Lex is in it, I don't know who they'd cast but I'd want someone only slightly older than Superman. Like a Billy Zane back in 1999 or so type.

Something uplifting and simple.
No post-modernism ****** metacommentary, no dour "deconstruction", no self-irony (which is nowadays is basically self-hatred). Something old school heroic, fun with a good natured wit and maybe a bit of humor (but not too much).

Something, which make you feel great and aspire to be better, after you watched it.

Mostly impossible nowadays, but, one can hope?

I agree with this 100%. Somewhere in between the 80's movies and Cavill's appearances. Truth is I think Cavill is 100% the perfect Superman in every way. He was just given dour material to work with.

But as far as looks are concerned, Superman should be a brick shithouse.

That is Henry Cavill all the way. "Lean Superman" doesn't work.

James Gunn has found his #Superman and Lois Lane in David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan: http://thr.cm/MnoEsTN

James Gunn has found his Superman and Lois Lane. After a lengthy search, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will star in Superman: Legacy, the film that will launch DC’s new universe under writer-director Gunn and his co-DC Studios boss, Peter Safran.

The duo were among six actors who vied for the lead roles, with Gunn filming screen tests over the June 17 weekend with Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney also vying to play Superman/Clark Kent and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor also in the running for Lois Lane, the Daily Planet reporter.

I'm not familiar with David Corenswet but he's got the look (looks a lot like Henry Cavill, lol) and he's pretty tall. Google search immediately suggested "David Corenswet height" so everyone seems to be doing the same thing, haha.

EDIT: God, shut the **** up, Cubed...

They were planning a black Superman movie before James Gunn took charge of the DC movie slate.

Just watched a few interviews with them and clips. Not bad. Not bad at all, especially that Lois. That dude needs to hit the weights hard, though. And I don't want to hear "Superman needs a swimmer's body" again because that's bullsh**.

Brosnahan reminds me of Margot Kidder which isn't bad. And I just listened to an interview with Corenswet, his voice is great! But yeah, buff him up hard.

As I said, it's a miracle they're both white. This feels like classic Superman and Lois.

When Superman and Lois first launched Dean Cain always sort of felt like a hispanic guy in the Super-suit.

And I think Cubed is doing his routine trolling thing, but either way I suspect that the last several years of white-hate and race-swapping in media is what he is basing his commentary on.
