I'm not sure whether or not it's too late to salvage Roman with the general audience. They needed to course correct with him years ago. Instead, he might be closing his fourth straight Wrestlemania and will at least be in a world title match.

To some extent. But it says a lot that, when Romans suspension was announced, even after an impassioned speech about what a flake Brock is, the crowd cheered. They tried using this tactic with Cena during the Rock feud. It didn't work then either. But more than that, Roman versus the authority figures doesn't work great because everyone knows that they love the hell out of him and are the ones who have made sure he's the most important guy on the roster for years. It works for a guy like Daniel Bryan because we knew they didn't want him, but we did.

As for Cena, fans have wanted that showdown forever, so it's not surprising they reacted well to it. Plus it's Undertaker. Crowds still love the guy. Personally, I legitimately sighed. Undertaker pretty much showed that he couldn't go anymore last year. Roman had to practically wrestle around him. Big Match John is a good worker, but unless 'Taker is feeling a whole lot better this year, there's only so much he can do. Let the guy retire in peace.

By the way, that promo was weird. Cena sounded angry that an old man wanted to retire and he was told the match was impossible, when he was the one who, in kayfabe, blew his numerous chances at a match for 'Mania. Like, what? Dude's been the rock of WWE for thirty years. The hell shouldn't he be allowed to retire?

I suspect that's the plan, assuming this is meant to be the actual send-off. It sucks it's going to upend the emotional moment at the end of last year. Maybe they'll try to preserve it, though. Like, it's more plain clothes Undertaker, while the character's been left behind. So basically, becoming BikerTaker again. Then again, they had him appear in full regalia at Raw 25, so probably not.

Three options I see. One, he goes solo and wins the tag straps. This is stupid and it was stupid when TNA did it. It's a tag title. Sure, it makes him look like a monster, but it's silly. Give the man a partner. Two, Elias tries to make nice with him over the next few weeks, they struggle to get along but eventually do, then they take the tag straps at 'Mania. Three, Big Show. They'd need some story stuff to make it work, since we last saw Show when Braun put him out, but that's an easy thing to get around and they're connected by a string of great, acclaimed matches that first put Strowman on a lot of peoples radar.

That would actually be amazing while simultaneously very Lucha Underground of them.

When I was a small child Hulkamania was big and I was a casual Hulk Hogan( please advertisers let him back in. The n word isn't even the problem for me, it was being in a bad place enough to have a one nighter with his' friend's wife in an open marriage because of the mental damage Linda did to him) fan as well as a Randy Savage fan. Back then I thought I was watching WWF,but it was mostly WCW. I was too little to know the difference, but loved their personalities and could never understand why Hulk Hogan was hanging out with bad guys like Rodman. The whole heel bit never really caught on with a 9 year old. Then I caught Undertaker when I was in high school coming off that dumb American Badass variation and loved his theatrics as much as I did Hulk's and Randy's. When I started my current job a student told me about The Shield and I loved the vigilante cop angle. However, this was March ahead of their June breakup. I drifted to Roman of the trio. So, what I am saying is I have been a casual fan all of my life and only admired one to two at a time. I have become interested in the choreography of wrestling in recent years however. So liking only Roman fits a trend I have always had. One or two anti-hero characters who beat up the jerks. *shrugs* I am not saying I dislike any of the current roster, its just one that I am truly a fan of and watch the matches of. I watch the opening and closing segments of RAW for him. If I miss Roman's segment it will be on Youtube the next day.

I get a lot of my wrestling related new from Meltzer since he is linked to Yahoo!.

Braun's dance partners that you mention make sense. They could always pull the Wyatt family card. I read that the Broken or is it Woken Matt Hardy vs Bray Wyatt is not working out as had hoped. If it is tapped from the Hardy Compound and thus not live would that allow Bray to team with his former henchman? Bray really needs a win! I know wins do not mean that much in a scripted sport such as Flair's 45% winning percentage. However, Bray could use a winning streak and alongside his former partner who is riding a wave, why not? I bet they will go with Silas though!

Seth's been my guy of the Shield since even a little before the split. He's the total package. Roman's got the tools, but it took a bit for him to put it together and by the time he did, they were already pushing him to be the next Cena, which soured me further. Dean Ambrose has a unique vibe, but he feels more Looney Tunes than actually crazy and his offense is Shane McMahon bad at times.

I have a feeling Bray is going to end up teaming with Hardy and sucked into the Broken/Woken stuff after this. He really has nowhere else to go and he's lost a lot of credibility. It kind of makes sense to have them maybe end up allies with a weird sort of respect for each others craziness and be a tag team for a while. Maybe pin Brauns tag partner a couple months down the line for the tag straps.

What do they have to lose? Bug projections and the house of horrors match really killed the dude with fans.

What do you expect from Dave "fake news" Meltzer I don't get why people speak of him so highly. He isn't that great.
He has the reputation he does because he not only has legit WWE sources, but because he's been involved in the wrestling industry in his capacity since the eighties, recapping house shows and everything in the business way before the internet came along and made that easy. The guy didn't spring from nowhere.

Nine times out of ten, Roman's usually booked as the jerk.

What do you think the chances are that WWE keeps it named The Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal after all the bad press it's garnered in such a short time?

The Stratusfaction Battle Royal would be preferable.

It's hard to say. Vince has always been fond of Moolah, at least in part because she was always loyal, and the WWE has spent the better part of thirty years quietly calling her one of the best ever and glossing over her history. But it's a new age and word of her deeds is slowly becoming better known. I always knew about the original screwjob and how she deliberately ruined plans for - and through that, the title itself - the womens tag titles because the Glamour Girls didn't want to pay her ridiculous fees anymore. I only recently learned about her essentially being a pimp and raping trainees. She was one of the worst human beings possible.

I guess we'll see. If the pressure's enough and they get bad mainstream press over it, they may reverse course and rename it. WWE hates bad press, especially anything that can hurt the brand image they've worked so hard to cultivate.

Eh. Give it to Sensational Sherri. As I saw someone else point out recently, she doesn't get nearly enough credit for her role in womens wrestling. Alundra Blayze/Madusa would be alright too, but she's not dead and it's a "memorial" battle royale, another reason not to go with Trish.

I still think Bill Apter is miles better than him. Bill doesn't pull stuff from his ass like Dave does a lot of time mostly about Impact Wrestling

She is still among the living. It would have had Memorial with the title if she had. She was seen at RAW 25 alongside several others.

I think it's meant to be a memorial, which is why Trish would be a no-go. Hell, she still comes around once in a blue moon, even. Same reason for Madusa, a better pick if it's not meant to be a memorial thing. I really think there's only Sherri, when you think on it, out of dead wrestlers with relatively clean hands. Sherri had drug problems, sure, but that's nothing. Besides, that's a million times better than Fabulous Moolah.

Chyna would be nice synergy with the 'Dre for "wonders of the world" but WWE'd never go for it.

They got the picture.

http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/wwe/..._Backlash.html

Could have just changed it to another superstar, but as others on the net have pointed out, they already did Mae Young and WWE doesn't consider anyone else trailblazers until you get to Trish and Lita, who are still alive, so I guess that's a wash.

I think it would work, but selling the McMahon's is a harder deal.

I don't think drugs are a big dealbreaker for WWE, because plenty of Hall of Famers who are in video packages were either in them or died from them. Eddie Guerrero is brought up semi-regularly, especially when they were pushing how he inspired Sasha, and dude died from a drug overdose. Porn, maybe, though X-Pac was in her first and he still shows up, so I don't know. I read in a comment section recently when someone else brought her up that apparently one of hers had a McMahon incest theme, which is probably the real reason she'll never be honored for anything.

But she's definitely not just as bad by a longshot. Moolah raped and pimped out women in addition to all her backstage political bulls***, which ended up killing the womens tag titles, screwjobbing Wendi Richter and setting womens wrestling back decades because she basically took it over to control it and taught everyone her style. Moolah's a monster, it just took the internet age for the information to really get out there. I'm not a big fan of her wrestling days, but Chyna was a screwed up - seemingly mentally compromised by the end - human being who had vices and, well, we forgive plenty of wrestlers that sin.
