I don't know.

Either way, I think that the sequel will bomb.

You though that as well for the first and I thought it'd be a huge hit as big as Detective Pikachu and I was right. This is despite getting the inferior Sonic re-design instead of the furrealtic original design ;p

Ah, but this time I think that it will actually flop.

Sequels usually aren't as successful as their predecessors.

That makes sense.

I'm okay with Shadow and The Chaotix. I don't know much about Blaze, Big the Cat, Fang the Sniper, Honey the Cat, Rouge the Bat, Sticks the Cat, Amy Rose, or Silver. However, I'll be just fine if none of them show up in the sequel.

Metal Sonic would be a neat idea if the movie needs another adversary in case Knuckles doesn't get duped by Robotnik.

Knuckles was a given with how the first started and ended. We basically know what he’ll look like too.

Metal Sonic seems more likely in a potential third movie (I don’t wanna assume but I hope it gets 3). Part 2 seems like it’ll focus on Sonic/Tails vs Robotnik/Knuckles until he finds out he’s the bad guy.

We might see the Master Emerald since Knuckles is supposed to guard it. Maybe that’s why it appears on the map. To indicate it’s related to one the locations. Of course Sonic does not know yet and thinks Mushroom Hill is a wasteland.

I reckon it’s gonna be a mix of live action setting and cgi. I have faith in the team.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2, Home Alone 2, Shrek 2, Toy Story 2, Deadpool 2, The Dark Knight.

You’re always so negative, pessimistic and don’t know what you’re talking about so whatever.

I do think that by now there's been enough Good Sequels to the point where we can retire the "sequels by default are generally bad/unsuccessful" trope. Sure.

But it just as well can go either way. The ones that shine are still generally Good Movies in and of themselves; the ones that fail or underperform generally aren't. And then you still have things like Transformers 2 which made a ton of money despite being absolutely godawful. Like I actually didn't hate the first Transformers movie but the second one is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. As was the third one. And the fourth one. Same thing with the "Saw" franchise. They all made a ton of money, but... Jesus.

So yeah, I just think it's impossible to predict these things either way until the movie itself exists. There's been enough Good Sequels and Bad Sequels and "Sequels That Were Bad But Still Made Money" to the point where it can be safely stated that there really isn't any formula by which these things can be predicted in advance.

Young Guns II made a hair less than its predecessor - and was less profitable overall because its budget was twice as high as the first's - and yet, it remains the greatest sequel film ever made.

Facts.

Only thing is, at least in tone, you shouldn't have part 1 take place in the real world and part 2 be a CGI fest. At the very least we need the cop guy to tag along or something. I know everyone is itching to have a Sonic movie more like the games but the first movie was endearing and should not just be forgotten.

It won’t forget earth. Tom and Maddie are important to Sonic and Robotnik wants to come back.

I think they’ll include one or two new game locations. Besides what we saw in part one. They’ll probably use an earth location that sort of doubles as a game one. Like San Francisco was basically City Escape.

Sonic world locations will depend on the storyline and where they’d need to travel.

Those were just the first three that came to mind. But, yeah, those too.

The only reason that the film made bank was because of the design change.

The film's borderline mediocre otherwise.

I agree the movie would've bombed with the original design despite being the same God dsmn movie. Reviewers would've but picked the plot and dialog but because they changed the design instead they praised it. Hypocrite reviewers

Not really, the movie had a lot of heart to it and Carrey killed it as Robotnik. If anything people would have found it harder to relate to Sonic cause his first draft design was so ****in ugly.

Kinda like the TMNT Out of the Shadows movie. That scene where Mikey gets sad cause he realizes humans see him as a monster falls flat due to the Micheal Bay designs making him look like a ****ing ugly monster.
