Except, Erik said she was dead before Logan changed the timeline. Though he just said she was dead. Of course she did appear in the original timeline as a teenager in the 70's, but people want to treat that as a separate character.

Imagine actually caring about these movies after X-Men 2.

Not totally unfair, though. That's the last time I actually finished watching one and was genuinely excited to see what came next. Ever since III it's a total crapshoot. It's like the Star Trek movies; even if you enjoy one, you start remembering that it mathematically means the next one is gonna suck.

Anybody thinking Spider-Man FFH could get some hasty reshoots to include X-Men characters?

Some new stuff from Vanity Fair

Quote:
Fox’s marketing and distribution departments gathered with the filmmakers of Dark Phoenix, the latest X-Men installment from producer-director Simon Kinberg, to lay out their plans for the film’s June release. It was a typical meeting. Ad buys were discussed, and the publicity tour for the film’s stars, including Sophie Turner, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jessica Chastain, was laid out. But it was still disconcerting, both because of all the new faces in the room—a handful of high-end consultants have been hired temporarily to fill the jobs recently vacated by long-term employees—and because of the ad hoc approach the Fox marketing team was taking toward the film’s release, four months away.

Yeah, highly unlikely. Plus as much say as Sony has in things, they probably want the Spider-Man movies to be fairly focused on Spider-Man and Spider-Man characters/villains to better grow their Spider-verse. Throwing mutants in there only helps the other MCU movies.

It will be very, very interesting to see the Avengers: Endgame end credits, though. If there isn't something there alluding to mutants or Galactus or something, I will eat my keyboard.

I was gonna try and insist that Star Trek has a better track record for movies than X-Men, but... well, what does God need with a starship?

Absolutely. I'm still firmly convinced we see a Galactus or Kang end credits scene. My personal hope is Galactus.

Footage shown at Wondercon. Those in attendance were pleased.

"The audience cheered long and loud, especially for the X-Women line, which resonates strongly with the current female empowerment trend in Hollywood superhero cinema."

Great.

The X-Men story about one of O5 turning into an unstoppable force of cosmic destruction and horror (yes I know it technically turned out it was just a copy of her later on, but that's how it was presented at the time)... Being turned into "female empowerment"? How can you miss the point this hard? I've seen what kind bland nonsense you get from sucking out dramaturgical structure in favor of Hollywood's idea of "female empowerment" can lead to about two weeks ago, it's just something a small but loud group ideological parrots will champion while everyone else stops talking about it after a few days.

I think I would have prefered the franchise to go out on a true whimper rather than a false bang.

Kinberg claims that "Dark Phoenix" was always intended to be the end.

Oh, sure.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/kinberg-...lways-the-end/

Also, in the same article, it doesn't sound like anyone has told Alexandra Shipp the painfully obvious certainty that the entire X-verse is being rebooted without her. SAD!

Uh, what exactly did you do? Judging what you wrote here, it seems like you might have done something far worse than post a gif.

I worded things pretty carefully actually...just said this sort of thing wasn't needed to get the feminine empowerment message across, cited tv examples from back in the 90s, and they responded with "oh but it matters more for women in cinema", and I cited examples of THAT from the 90s and the 80s, then I accused them of caring more about box office than actual quality. So they kicked me out.

Sounds like how I keep getting banned for a week or 2 from bluray.com forums for posting my anti Brie Larson/Captain marvel stuff and they claim I am "political trolling" when I do that

"We agree with free speech... just not your free speech."

And this kind of thinking seems to only come from one side...

Yeah but is That Word still a racial slur? Or did South Park succeed in "taking it back"?

I'm confused.
