Mirage Timeline

Yes, I had really really nothing to do ealier today...

So I'm just going to paste what I wrote a couple of hours ago:

Sparvid tries to create a somewhat good timeline over the Mirage comics:

First, years between various scenes:

#1 tells us following: The Turtles are 15 years old (Both Shredder and Splinter mentions that Yoshi died that amount of years ago) and have, according to Splinter, been training for 13 years. Nagi was killed "some 20 years ago", when Saki was 7. Saki became leader of the NY Foot when he was 18 and "within a year" he had become the Shredder. I'm guessing that he also killed Yoshi and Shen that same year, when he was 19. And that was according to Splinter 15 years ago. That makes those "some 20 years ago" to 27 years.

So, if the parts of #1 which takes place in the present is "year 15" (the Turtles age), Yoshi's death, and the Ooze accident took place in 00, Saki became a Foot leader in -01, and Nagi was killed in -12.

In #9, the Turtles are not yet teenagers, so I'm going to guess that they were 12, as old as possible without actually being a teenager. In #7, the Turtles are 15,5 years old. In #21 three years has passed since #1, making the Turtles 18 years old. In #57 Karai mentions that one year has passed since Leo killed Shredder in #21 and Shadow is born in the next issue.

So, we have:

-19 Saki is born.
-12 Nagi killed by Yoshi. Yoshi and Shen moves to NY. Saki 7 years.
-01 Saki becomes head of the NY Foot.
00 Yoshi and Shen killed by Saki. Saki 19 years. TMNT are born. Ooze accident.
02 Splinter starts training TMNT.

Years mentioned:

I have found three times, and with a little bit of tweaking, they fit.
#8 takes place in 1986.
#11 takes place between January and May of 1987 (so the winter fights in Leonardo and #10 was in the end of 1986).
#19 is in December of 1988, and according to Raphael "one year" after #10. That's a small problem, since it was Christmas in the Leo oneshot, so it appearantly happened in December of 1986, which would make it two years... So that's the only thing we're going to ignore

(or you could say that they were attacked in the first week of January, which would make the time between #10 and #19 one year and 11 months. But then the question is "Why do they celebrate Christmas two weeks later than everybody else?"

Or you could just ignore that Raph said "one year" and pretend he said "two years"

So, according to that the Turtles are 18 in 1988 (15 in #1, plus three years in #21), which puts their birthyear ("year 0") at 1970. If these years are followed the timeline looks like this:

1951 Saki is born.
1958 Nagi killed by Yoshi. Yoshi and Shen moves to NY. Saki 7 years.
1969 Saki becomes head of the NY Foot.
1970 Yoshi and Shen killed by Saki. Saki 19 years. TMNT are born. Ooze accident.

RPG:

According to the RPG "TMNT & Other Strangeness", Shredder is 34 years old, which he according to the timeline actually was in #1. The RPG also tells us that April is 27, and Casey 22. If those ages are put in at 1985, you can see their birthyears:

1963 Casey is born.
1969 Saki becomes head of the NY Foot.

Note that appearantly April is basically the same age as Splinter, or maybe even a little younger!

However, the RPG puts Splinter's age at 25, which is at least 3 years to young for him to have lived with Yoshi in Japan before he moved to USA. So, it's possible that April's and Casey's ages can be a little different, but they don't contradict anything I've found yet.

The current series:

I don't know Shadow's age. She is a teenager, and she has a driver's licence (but that doesn't help me much as an non-american :p). If we're going to take Mike's words literally and say that it is 15 years between vol.1 #1, and vol.4 #1, that would make Shadow just 11 years. But let's say that Mike wasn't that exact, he only meant "around 15 years", and maybe he didn't mean 15 years since the first time they ran around on roof tops. So, if he meant "18 years since 1986", that would set Shadow's current age at 15. And the "current" year at 2004.

Casey also mentions that he was a kid in the early 70's, which makes his birthdate look okay.

With everything included:

Well the years get a little out of sync... I he read that the TMNT are 28 in volume 4. But it dosent really matter. But anyway, really nice timeline!

The only major flaw I've noticed is that in Vol.4 #3, the news reporter made a reference to 9/11 as recent events. Therefore, the new comic takes place here in the present, not a few years in the future.

True. Volume 4 #1 happens 15 years after the first issue. So if it happens in year 85, the year in new volume would be 2000. The first issue could happpen in 84 too, im not sure what's right. Either way, the new volume happens few years in the past.

Well it's not that weird, that time line is pretty much right. It might be off few years tough. It's little hard to make a timeline. But now that i think of it, TMNT has usually happened in the present day, so the year in volume 4 can be 2002.
