Need help with some HTML and slicing problems

Yeah, what I cannot understand is this:

I make the image I want in Photoshop, then I jump over to ImageReady and slice it up. I add the link address to the individual slice in the box. Okay, when that's done, what do I do? All ImageReady let's me save as is a .psd...how do I save it to be viewed on a web page I've set up? I went back to Photoshop and saved the image as a gif, but it wouldn't show up on the after I typed in the code. When I brought it in as a jpeg, it showed the picture, but nothing was linking or even showed it there was a link. I'm doing straight HTML for my site so you know. Anything specific to do for the code?

Confused? So am I. Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated.

sorry, im not familiar with that software you use. but, in frontpage 2002, its extremely easy to make image maps.

if you are familar with html in general, heres the html to actually create the hotspot, and you can use this yourself to manually create the image map:

<p><map name="FPMap0">
<area href="file:///C:/Webpages/My%20Webpage/blah.htm" shape="rect" coords="200, 15, 454, 76">
<area href="file:///C:/Webpages/My%20Webpage/blah2.htm" shape="circle" coords="59, 28, 24">
<area href="file:///C:/Webpages/My%20Webpage/blah3.htm" shape="polygon" coords="514, 30, 490, 70, 544, 99, 574, 69, 531, 51, 541, 31, 517, 29, 517, 27, 499, 31">
</map>
<img border="0" src="file:///C:/Webpages/TMNT/images/banner2.gif" usemap="#FPMap0" width="600" height="100"></p>

pretty easy =) obviously the href and src lines would be for whatever you need. the href points to the link, with its coords being the top left and bottom right of the rectangle. in frontpage you can create rectangles, ovals, or abstract shapes (polygon). the src file is the image map.

for the cirlcle, im sure what the coords do. but im going to guess its x,y coords on the image, then the radius. might be radius first.

for the polygon, its just a series of x,y coords on the image. hope that helps!

Ugh.. I tried using Imageready to slice up a webgraphic too, and it drove me nuts to figure out after. I'm so used to working manually with HTML, this quick and dirty way confused me.

When you saved it, it should have let you save it as a HTML format too. So there's the images and the HTML webpage. Of course, the HTML will look like the pst above (which confused the heck out of me since I was going to add more text things to it and such).

What I did is not use the Imageready splice. I did the hard way by using the gridleines to cut out the pieces, savied them as web ready gifs, then pieced them back together with a table grid. But that's me and my backwards way of operating... you do what you can get help on, Raph90!
