Will April always be wearing the same clothes?

Most likely, yes.

Yes, all the characters will be wearing the same clothes most of the time. Exceptions are when Saki becomes the Shredder and wears his armor, and special occasions every now and again. These types of shows don't have the budget to design a new outfit for every show, that's why characters are always wearing the same outfits.

Boy, I bet they stink after a few episodes! Especially when they're hanging out in sewers of all places!

I don't even think it has to do with budgets.

Firstly, what do you need to change costumes for? Its a cartoon... not reality. No one's taking this stuff *that* seriously.

Second... when you're animation team is working for 10 cents and a some fresh fruit, you tend to try and keep things simple. April and Casey will wear the same things at all time so that the animation team doesn't confuse them for different characters (these people dont read English or anything, they just get a command, and draw).

Its also become a convention is animation that people only change clothing when logic demands it (expect April to wear a coat if they ever do a winter episode, or a space suit if they head into outer space)... otherwise, characters stay the same to maintain a sense of consistency.

IMO, it depends on how you do it. In the Spider-Man toon, Peter had always the same outfit, and it looked really "cheap" to see it over and over again... In X-Men Evolution the characters have two outfits (though the civilian clothes are used more often than the X-costumes), but they actually get other clothes when the script calls for, so you never get really tired on them.

I like April's new outfit, but I do hope they decide to give her a more sophisticated look later on.

Actually...I feel that they keep characters in the same costume because they're easier to identify. Its kinda like a logo...what if you saw The McDonald's arches purple plaid? wouldn't you be just a little wigged out?

A better turtle related example is this: If I say Yellow Jump suit 90% of the people are going to think "april o'neal" They don't often change clothes to imprint our minds with symbolic representation and identification.

In fact, I cannot think of ONE cartoon show/movie in which the character changed clothes a lot of times.

One other way to look at is is this: TOYS!! its much easier to produce a toy (action figure) with one out fit representation...so they tend to stick with no more than three (Lilo and Stitch is the only animated thing in which i could think of that went to more than two out fits. She had four main ones and several little ones in photos at the end)

The exception to this toy line idea are dolls like barbie who's whole concept is to make money of selling new clothes.

So chances are...april is going to look this way for a long while....

however she may change her clothes when she becomes a reporter...this could just be the outfit for THIS job.

I hope they don't change Casey's costume too much. Because I really don't want to deal with the torn hood shirt. And the crappy sweat pants. He just looks like a Bad ass now, Plain and simple. April looks like a Teeny Bopper though. She looks like she's one episode away from singing a Britney Spears song. *Shudder*

Tangents

Life is like a bowl of alphabet soup. Mainly because I'm pissed off that no talent dumb asses like Brittany Speares are being idolized in the form of my favorite cartoon. Don't let the brown hair fool you, she's likely to disappoint. Damnation, will that Speares wench grant me no solace from her tyranical grip on society? *sniff*
