World Record for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Ninja Turtles

Thought I'd share:

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/200...ks_record.html

"In a large public demonstration of ''turtle power,'' Rutgers University students dressed as characters from the popular 1980's ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' cartoon gathered at the school's Piscataway campus to eat pizza, answer trivia and wax nostalgic.

By about 10 p.m., 748 students had shown up, easily beating the Guinness World Record (200) for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Ninja Turtles. The participants were given long-sleeve turtle-shell T-shirts, at least until the T-shirts ran out, and masks. Some 100 additional students were turned away."

I had heard about it but I did see the results. I am so close to Rutgers and I wanted to go but no vacation days available. That photo is pretty awesome though!!!

We need to do a Turtle Con, if only for the Drome to break the Rutgers record!

I wonder how many of those people were actually turtles fans and how many were just doing it because anything from the 80's is "cool" now. Or maybe they wanted free pizza.

Either way I'd love to have gone. Though I'm sure I'd have been annoyed. If we had a turtle-con the quiz portion would be awesome, people would know the answers.

Something I was wondering too. How many fans are there and how many are there just because it's something fun to do?

Probably a quarter were probably fans, judging on how many people popped up when for the wrong Turtle during the singing of the "official" TMNT song.

Someone at one of the next comic cons needs to organize a gathering of people in turtle costumes that's even bigger than that in order to set a new record. Then they need to start a massive battle royal with all those guys that dress up at stormtroopers. That would result in the greatest comic book convention of all time.
