TMNT Volume 1 #8 missing from ninjaturtles.com

I was just looking through the scanned comics, and it goes from #7-#9. Anyone know what happened to Cerebus and #8?

Cerebus happened, that's what.

Mirage claims copyright issues with the character are keeping them from reprinting the issue. Dave Sim has something different to say about it.

When the Vol. 1 collected books are finally published the #8 we all know and love will be replaced with a story penciled by Jim Lawson and written, I believe, by Murphy (not 100% sure on that, but it's the impression I've gotten).

Oh yes, this is another one of those issues.

Sounds interesting, thanks for the info.

Any idea when new scans will be posted?

If you mean for #8, I wouldn't count on it since they skipped posting that issue.

However, I plan to have a go at the issue in time. It was actually on my list of things I might do today, but I got engrossed in a tech project and watching Doctor Who.

Wow, I wonder if there is bad blood between Laird and Sim.

I have all of these in comic form, but after discovering WOWIO, I enjoy relaxing with my laptop and reading a comic or two.

I have the complete Spider Man comic series on disc (bought at CC for $30) and it is great to be able to catch up on comics from the 60's that weould cost a fortune to acquire.

I wonder if there are any plans to bring Volume 1 or 2 to a service like WOWIO.

Yeah, but if I remember correctly Dave Sim isn't very fond of signing contracts?

So, if all they have is his word, doesn't that mean that he could basically say, when a reprint was out "No, I changed my mind a long time ago" and sue them?

I don't say he WOULD do it, since it's the way he's always worked.. I'm absolutely sure he wouldn't.. I'm just saying there's a risk...

is it possible that other tmnt issues written or drawn by other artists could be skipped as well. fearing the same problem with copy right issues involving those creators?

Pretty much his word in print -- which is what we have -- is as good as a legally binding contract in court.

Oh, okay.. Yeah, then I guess it isn't a legal reason for not reprinting it :S

I believe I have read that because of issues with Rick Veitch that "The River" will never be reprinted again. But for all I know that is a situation that could have changed by now.
