A Scary Moment

(Not sure if this is where I should post this, so please move if it fits better somewhere else.)

I had a scary moment today. I was looking at late notices for two different bills, and thinking about how my paycheck wasn't going to take care of both of them this week, and I almost decided to sell off most of my vintage Playmates collection.

I've got close to 200 items, all MIB/MOC, everything from Fan Club Fliers, Pop-Ups, Krang's Android Body, 2 Ninja Action Sets, Shogun Shoate, Shogun Triceraton, to a ton of foreign Hero Turtles vehicles, Japanese exclusives, and just tons of crazy variants and rarities from the tail end of the line. That's only scratching the surface and I couldn't deny how much $$$$ I had there. To top it all off, 90% of it just sits packed up in my closet for lack of a better place.

Oh, I was going to keep a set of the original 10-backs, and a few of my favorite vehicles like the Pizza Thrower and the Ninja Grapplor, but then I was gonna sell the rest.

But I've been mulling it over all day and I just can't do it. I might not be able to display them now, but someday I'll have a room to do it, and I mean, a room. I've always envisioned a room in my house dedicated solely to TMNT, with my vintage Playmates collection being the main display.

I won't give up that dream just because of a measly bit of debt, an empty refrigerator and a car that needs gasoline.

Anyone else ever had to make a decision like this?

Yes, going thru this right now. Got bills bills bills. I lost about 2 hours a week at work so that's bad. I got to adjust. Can't buy as many tmnt stuff as I want. Just like you I wish to one day have a complete turtle room. My room is a turtle room but not completly. It share it with my turtles lol. Well it's not worth to sell them now for a low price and in the future find them again and pay more....

Can't say I've been in a jam like this but I think the only way I would sell off all of my stuff is if I were in danger of being evicted.

I'm one of these guys that likes to make up these "What if..." scenarios, so one day I asked my g/f what she would do if I sold off all of my TMNT stuff and took her on a nice vacation the following week. Her reaction to the question clearly showed her reaction to me actually doing that would overshadow marriage proposal. Basically my bills and my girlfriend's happiness are on the same level, ha. I kid, I kid.

As i have said before, if I was in a situation like that, I would sooner start grabbing credit cards and going into debt to cover my ass then sell my collection...but then...its me we are talking about

It is a tough decision to grapple with... either way, I want to devote a room too.. some day.. you can always pay off those credit cards.. just pace yourself.... a few toys a month
