[Fan Art] TMNT Redesign Challenge #4 - Slash

Here we go for RC#4 we have SLASH, the "wolverine" Turtle...

So lets take some blades and spikes, is rogue turtle time.

End Date: 20th April 2010.

In the animated series, he was a mutant turtle, created by Bebop and Rocksteady to do chores Shredder had assigned that they didn't want to do. In this incarnation his obsession with palm trees was in particularly focused on the plastic tree in his bowl before mutated which he called his "Binky".

In the Archie series, Slash was merely an alien that happened to be an anthropomorphic snapping turtle. Originally he lived on a world filled with lush palm trees. Slash's paradise would be shattered when invaders came and cut down all of his his precious trees. Slash soon came across the banished Krang and made a deal to help him back to Earth. Under Krangs leadership Slash teamed with Bellybomb and fought the turtles while Krang sought a new body...that of Shredders.

Later in the series, Slash went on a rampage which drew the attention of the Mutanimals. After he was captured and imprisoned the Mutanimals broke him out and took him back to their island. Once awakened Slash continued his violent spree until subdued by Leatherhead. Now in a somewhat more peacefull state, the Mutanimals were able to calm him enough to inform him that he would be allowed to stay in a grove of lush palm trees he so loved. A grateful Slash strode off happily and would become an ally of his rescuers.

Later, Slash sacrificed himself to save the TMNT, Ninjara, and their future counterparts from a fiery death aboard a spacecraft that was hurled toward the sun.

RULES:

All people who choose to participate will have 15 days to come up with a redesign for the given character.
You can use any medium you wish.
You can sketch, paint, make a 3-D model, make a sprite, make a custom action figure, whatever you want.
Its entirely up to you!

You can post any number of redesigns you want and chose if it will be submitted to the contest poll, but when nothing is mentioned by the submitter, they will be always considered submissions.
Will only be considered a maximum of 2 finished Art submissions per participant for the contest poll.

All submissions made after the end date will not be considered, so please don´t post more art if the deadline ended.

As well, you don't have to force yourself to make your design conform to any new or old cartoon or comic book's style.
Be as drastic in your redesign as you see fit. Whatever makes you happy.

If you can't think of a new design, or just hate the idea of working on this character, you do not have to feel obligated to participate in this particular challenge.
You will still be free to participate in any future challenges you wish.

When the 15 days end, the contest poll will be post with the submissions during 10 days.
The winner of the contest poll can choose the 5th character in the next character poll.

Art Submissions End Date: 20th March 2010.

Finished my first entry. Started it this afternoon. I had been working on another one which I may still finish, but progress was simply too slow so I started another one:



The picture doesn't really do it justice, and I almost wonder if I should have left it in black and white. I've incorporated the styles of Jim Lawson, Eric Talbot, and Tokka B2 into this drawing.

I'm offering it up for sale if anyone is interested.

Edit: Ulysses, your contest rules aren't clear/seem self-contradictory. I can only enter two submissions, but I can post as many different redesigns to the thread as I want? So if I post 100 drawings and don't tell you which ones are actual entries, they all become entries? None of them become entries? Am I the only one who is so confused?

The fact that a quarter of the forum members (well, 10 out of 40 so far) believe Venus should return in future TMNT media makes me think she deserves a spot on the future character redesign poll as opposed to Benevento. Seriously, no offense but I've been reading this forum since 2002 and I don't even really understand the whole "Benevento as the unofficial 5th turtle" thing. Just seems like more of a prolonged inside joke than anything else.

I agree...that guy hardly even spends anytime in the TMNT sections.

If you ask me my CJJ character should have been the one in the poll. I've written a lot of fan-fiction around that character, who, when not central to the plot is usually tangentially related to the action. So yes I am offended.
