I Am Foot

[Genesis]

I AM FOOT

I am an assassin.
My life spent in service and training.
Silently I strike, only to fade into the night.
Not a moment's hesitation precedes the kill,
Though it generates no pleasure.
Our late Master made regular enemies
Of a particular four.
But only now, that they are no longer foes,
Do I realise how familiar with them I truly am.
Some of my Clan brethren still can hardly tell them apart.
"Just one of four targets," they'd always say,
But I know them all too well.
There is the warrior of spirit;
He who is the key to their unity.
There is the warrior of distraction;
He who moves like lightning, whose tongue is ever quicker.
There is the warrior of knowledge;
He whose calculating precision keeps him alert
For when he is needed.
And there is the warrior of courage;
He who strikes hard, who dares not show weakness.
I am lucky to have survived my every encounter with these shadow warriors,
But they have left their mark.
Were they my enemies still, my respect they ever have.
I am ninja.
I am Foot.

Much appreciated. I felt the need to give a voice to a common Foot soldier, which I feel is fertile grounds for many stories, since they could well vary greatly in personality, even if their job description is "ninja flunkie." I liked the idea of making it a poetic memoir and just rolled with it.

I honestly wrote it in a rough hour on impulse, while stoned from exhaustion, instead of getting to sleep like I should have. Granted, that was at least a year ago, so... yeah. I'm really bad about finishing my written pieces, so it's a good thing I forced myself into finishing, once I'd started. I appreciate your positive remarks.

Well, if the Turtle Titan approves, that pretty much negates anything bad one might say about it in the future.

As for their descriptions, I changed Mike's "Warrior of ________" title about three times and Donatello's description past his "Warrior of Knowledge" title once or twice. It's been a while. Hard to recall.
