The Technodrome featured in cracked.com article

It's ranked #2 in 6 Baffling Flaws in Famous Sci-Fi Technologyhttp://www.cracked.com/article_18699...r4=recommended.

Nice find!

Yeah, the Technodrome was awesome, but it was also a piece of crap that never worked properly 95% of the time and required a ridiculous amount of power just to roll around.

You're right, of course, but ouch, man. Heh.

I need to re-watch "Return of the Technodrome", as the Niagara Falls situation was a bit weird, as all that energy was more for the giant portal, with the Technodrome being re-charged as a side bonus, right? (Because, in terms of the latter, until that episode, Krang never worried about any energy issues in Season 2, or didn't he?) Which came in handy to re-activate the portal after the Turtles shut down the initial energy source. The article isn't wrong, as the Technodrome did benefit from Niagara Falls, but it was a unique back-and-forth with the giant portal involved. Everything else cited in the article was true, however, especially the "cast aside to die like a Ford Expedition." Brutal, but a good way of putting it.

I would call foul for not mentioning "The Big Blow Out," which is the only time where the Technodrome really got to show off (and show off, it did). That 5 percent of the time, etc.

Oddly enough, the comments hardly mention about the Technodrome, but I'll keep checking. (But, we agree -- the toys were awesome.) By the way, as one commenter noted, "what about the omission of Power Rangers' Serpentera?" Badass as that dragon mecha was, its power requirements were almost or if not worse than the Technodrome's. Oh, dear.

Anyway, good find.

Maybe the article writers are closet fans of "Scorpion Rain"...

Would like to know how you did as kids when making up own TMNT stories (playing with action figures, telling each other stories, writing fan fiction or creating own comics). Did you prefer full-powered up Technodrome from the start of your or not, or made Shredder looking for fuel a plot for the adventure itself?

As younger, I'd do the former, mainly, as A) having the Technodrome move about was a badass or awesome sight and B) I was probably too lazy to think about the latter in a serious matter. These days, in terms of fanfiction, I'd lean toward the latter, but I wouldn't take 65 episodes to achieve that goal, either. Heh. 13-16 sounds reasonable.

OK, I actually often liked to start with not full-powered Technodrome, and had Bebop and Rocksteady searching through power plants around the Earth, and then manage to make it sometimes, powering the Technodrome up full. Allowed the TMNT to travel around.
