Digital Comics on iPhone

I haven't noticed this posted yet so i figured id ask if anyone knew, i have been buying the new idw comics and also have the new tmnt comic app on my iphone, does anyone know if they will be releasing a code with the comics so that you can download the digital comic on the app for free? ive heard that this has been done before and rather then buy the comic twice (physically and digitally) i would rather only buy it once.

I've never known IDW to do that, so I wouldn't expect it to happen with TMNT.

Its all about making as much money as possible, dude. Some people want both the convenience of a physical presence and a copy that doesn't wear over time, and if a special code existed, it would work best as a special offer or promotion in order to entice new readers.

I've read articles about how the young generation prefers to just read comics digitally as part of being digital natives and feeling that paper is just too old-fashioned. But for the sake of tradition, paper comics won't die in our lifetime unless if there are very few fans left since there will always be a niche that prefers print comics since a physical presence has a genuity that e-comics lack, plus digital stuff can't become collectible in the future since it can't be graded by CGC!

Another important thing to point out is that technology isn't always reliable. Just an hour ago my smart phone froze up on me. I had to plug it in to get it to reboot. Electronic gadgets will always have that problem, so the old fashioned paper comics do come in handy at times like that.

I've got another question about the digital comics. I noticed in the Black & White Classics section they have four 'volumes' collecting various issues of the initial Eastman & Laird run. However, it doesn't say anywhere which issues are collected into which volume. Has anyone downloaded these who could let me know what issues are included in each of the four volumes? Do they include the character micro-series one-shots?

I'm also confused about prices. Each of the collected volumes is $7.99, which would come to ~$32 if you bought all four. But they also are selling individual issues 1 thru 11 (minus #8... maybe some Cerebus copyright issues?), and the four micro-series, all for $1.99 each. Which would come to a total of $28 if you bought them all individually. So... why would I buy the collected volumes when its $4 cheaper to buy them all separately? Is there bonus material? Issue #8 with Cerebus? Once again, if anyone has bought the digital collected volumes and could let me know what's inside each one, it would be most appreciated!

I haven't got the four Volumes, but judging from the listed page counts and preview images I'd say they collect:

Vol. 1: #1-3, Raph
Vol. 2: #4-7
Vol. 3: #9, Don, Mikey
Vol. 4: #10-11, Leo

I hadn't noticed it was cheaper for the individual issues. The first IDW-verse collection is also more expensive than grabbing the individual issues - though that's because they offer #1 as a freebie. I didn't notice that right away either. D'oh.
