J.D. Vollman = Steve Murphy

As Spengs guessed, J.D. Vollman was in reality a pseudonymn for Steve Murphy.

Here's the excerpt from Murph's email to me which reveals that fact:

Seriously though, thanks for clearing this up.

I can only guess that Archie Comics put some pressure on Mirage to oust Dean Clarrain and peg somebody else to write that last story arc after the controversial Cyber-Turtles arc finished up, and "J. D. Vollman" was the best talent that Mirage could scratch up on such short notice.
