Karai Theory

Forgive me if anything like this has been mentioned already. But something in the pilot got me thinking. Yoshi/Splinter says he lost both his wife and daughter. But what if unknown to Splinter, the baby girl survived and was raised by Shredder and named Karai?

Anyway that's my (not so) crack theory. I think it would be an interesting way to introduce "the Shredder's daughter" as she's been in recent incarnations as Splinter's daughter as well though. Food for thought. Make of it what you will. But just thought I'd share.

I think Miwa and Karai will be two totally different characters.

Why would she change her name anyway?

Haha, that is EXACTLY what I was telling my wife I thought should/would happen. It would be a very interesting twist to have her raised/warped by Shredder, then when she found out she was actually Yoshi's daughter, that would be a perfect reason for her to have sympathies with Splinter and the Turtles.

There is probably a huge chance Miwa is Yoshi's daughter raised by Saki. karai however, I hope HOPE She is not Saki nor Yoshi's daughter.

That was a stupid thing from 4Kids making Karai Shredder's adoptive daughter, especially that 4Kids barely did anything interesting with it.

That was my theory from the day I first heard of Miwa. Karai is Shredder's step-daughter and walks the line so why not make her Splinter's biological daughter stolen by Shredder? It had emotion and another angle to Karai's struggle with good and evil. For Nick to make her their own and differientiate from the 2003 cartoon among others change her name and there you have it.

Actually, in Shredder's bio, it does state that his daughter is Oroku Miwa, so it makes sense that he would steal her to at least get back at Yoshi and have a bit of Shen with him since he loved her so much. As for Karai, I hope she also isn't Shredder's daughter but a second in command of the Foot.

I'm also thinking that Saki kidnapped Miwa, for whatever reasons. Whether or not she'll be Karai or they'll be separate characters, I can only guess at.

If she's Karai, or pretty much the equivalent of her, then I could see that drumming up some good drama, and would fit the kind of ally/foe vibe that I always get from Karai. She'd, being raised by Shredder after all, be antagonistic at first obviously, but if she found out the truth, she might feel like leaving with Splinter and the Turtles - but then there'd be the question of is she really trustworthy or not.

If she's NOT Karai, and there's a Miwa and Karai, maybe Shredder treats Miwa better for some reason (although I could also see him maybe keeping her out of the whole debacle for as long as possible), and Karai is jealous despite being trained to be really strong by her father Shredder (if they keep that angle I mean).

There's just so many different ways they can spin this, it's hard to say right now what would be the best.

I hope they keep Karai as Mirage as possible. Older, unrelated to Saki, and a high-ranking Foot Ninja. In a preview of his Shredder voice KMR said the line "Karai... Karai! The Foot Clan will be mine".

Maybe the fact that Shredder leaves Japan to finish off Yoshi causes some tension back at HQ and his faction goes to war with Karai's.

So yeah, definitely hope Karai and Miwa are separate characters but it's impossible to tell right now.

Remember, Miwa was only mentioned on the leaked site. So this may not be true.

Miwa was only mentioned on the old site, but was never heard from again.

Though I do think that Miwa is Karai, shredder must have renamed her. And I'm betting that Miwa is Splinter's daughter. Hey, it's a small world after all!

Wait, so does this mean Karai is not going to be mutated into Venus? Oh no, I feel a lengthy fanfic coming on soon!

Oh, and by the way, it's practically official that Karai Shredder's Daughter.
