Image Entertainment should do a special edition of the first movie

Since Image has done a deal with New Line/Warner on Alone in The Dark and Xtro movies on DVD, i think they should do a deal again but with a special edition blu-ray with deleted scenes, commentary, featurettes, retrospective, poster and still gallery, tv spots, behind the scenes footage and all that.

Ever since New Line became a division of Warners in 2008, there's pretty much no chance of them licensing out their titles to other distributors anymore.

I think if there's anybody I would want to license the first film from Warner Bros., it would be Shout Factory. They are very good at providing both extras and decent audio/video quality for catalog titles the studios. I have a few of their Scream Factory releases, and I've really enjoyed them.

But with a new film on the way, WB may likely consider a new box set to capitalize on potential hype and success. However, in that situation, it would be more probable for them to simply repackage the previous collection.

Just slap a '30th Anniversary' label on it...

EDIT:
Considering the technical feat that movie was, it's a shame we haven't gotten some good extra features.

It wouldn't even be that hard. Barron recorded a commentary for the German release...they could use that.

You know what this community could do? With so much information about the first movie sourced out by some members, there could be a fan edition containing all the making of's that have been released (Behind the shells, film 90 etc.). I'm sure there are members here with scripts, behind the scenes photos that haven't been posted too. It could atleast cover the stuff that people here could share.

Canadian Turtle mentioned there's stuff out there they've seen that will be on the documentary but I'm guessing that's exclusive to the doc?
