You think Lord Dregg is the turtles' most dangerous foe?

That doesn't mean I like the guy. I'm just saying, he wasn't a villain you can throw a pie in the face to defeat him. This guy was serious.

Only because the series got a little more serious and Krang and Shredder were idiots... That was the ongoing gag though wasn't it?

Really it depends, if we are talking strictly the Cartoon Universe or if you just mean in general.

Im thinking you meant in the CU and to a certain extent I think you are right. Dregg was a lot more evil than your normal villains. I think a lot of villains had the POTENTIAL to be major threats. The slash comes to mind. simply because he was just as powerful as the turtles and once his intelligence was increased his weaknesses were few and far between.

Yeah, I mean in the 1987 universe only. Not counting Ch'rell lol.

In the original cartoon, Lord Dregg was definitely the turtles most dangerous foe. And he was a spectacular character, voiced by the great Tony Jay. I wish that a toy would've been created for him.

I loved Dregg. Not as much as Shredder or Krang, but Dregg was a great villian.

I enjoy his seasons ark. Great plans, put great fear as villians should, and was over all a joy to watch in action, hell I would not mind if Dregg made a come back in the Nick cartoon .

I know he is underated in the turtle arks outside of fans of the old show.

Now all time villian, I cant put Dregg on the level of Joker or Gemini. But he was perhaps the best villian after Shredder and Krang. I put him over leaderhead, ratking, slash ete.

And who says Shredder and Krang were not theats? Killer pizzas, posioning April with the flower, The Techodrome scares, blowing up channel 6th, The mutant gun, Krangs body? A few plans that used the suns power, ok, he may not have the "Fear" factor once the show got goofy, but Shredder and Krang were major theats to the Earth.

Neyyyyhhh...I rewatched the Red Sky seasons as an adult, and I just...I couldn't take Dregg seriously. He was supposed to *be* more serious, yeah, but he just came across as a generic fill-in villain, created to cash in on a new direction in animation while making the smallest amount of effort.

Being a "dangerous" foe suggests some obligation to be interesting, and Dregg doesn't have "it".

Tony Jay's cool, though. Just throwing that out there.

Ditto. It pains me that Tony Jay was wasted on the role.

Tony Jay almost single handedly saved Dregg's character, so I don't think he was wasted.

Its not like Tony Jay could have played anyone else at the time. All the major villains were already cast.

Well, I know I was personally in danger of being bored to death by his flat character every ep I saw him in. Shredder never had that effect on me.

Well the reason he was serious or the most threatening was because he was introduced with the "Red Sky" seasons when most other major villains in the OT were introduced before then, so we saw the more humorous sides to them unlike with Dregg.

To me Dregg was an okay major villain, but he was somewhat generic, and not to mention an imitation of Power Ranger's Zedd. I think what makes him unappealing to some is that he didn't have a range to his personality, and there wasn't more developed on his background. There seemed to be a hope of that in the episode "Doomquest" when he fought with Doomquest, but that was never expanded on.
