Nick TMNT Best Episode Tournament Semi-Finals: Showdown vs. It Came From the Depths

1 In, 1 More to advance. The Gauntlet is into the Showdown and we now find out the episode that will face it. It's 2 vs. 3 with Showdown taking on It Came From the Depths. This one should be fun. Will Showdown reach "The Showdown"? Or will Leatherhead knock out the Season Finale? Here We Go!

Both fantastic episodes, but I'm going to have to stay with Leatherhead.

Man love both episodes. But I Showdown barely edges out It Came from the Depths. The dance scene at the end wins it for me.

The one problem with this Showdown is that its actually a two-parter. However, both parts were at least as good as "It Came From the Depths". Leatherhead's introduction was a nice twist on the Tales Vol. 1 #6 origin with some good humor mixed in.

But "Booyakasha Showdown" was the payoff for sitting through the first season. The biggest threat to the world with all of the civilians being captured by "Technopods", the biggest April damsel scene that was more than just being kidnapped, the big Splinter vs. Shredder battle, and of course, the Technodrome appears with a great battle, along with a great celebration. That should get it into the finals.

I probably liked showdown better, but ICFTD I just love to watch over and over again, so I gotta go with that tone.

I would've picked Showdown if the climax wasn't faulty - Leo chaining down that gigantic Android Kraang with his two miniscule hands? It could've been better if he anchored it to a pole or something..
But it also introduced so many great moments - April alien probing, Jedi Splinter, Shredder unmasked, Shredder vs Splinter, Karai/Miwa reveal..

Overall, ICFTD is a more solid and heartfelt episode so I'd go with that.

Wow it's a tie now. Who will win?

Difficult, difficult. Personally I was never really a fan of "It came from the Depths" despite having Leatherhead and Mikey. But overall the episode just didn't do it for me.

Yet, I didn't like "Showdown" that much either as there were several issues that brought it down. (Dragged out Kraang battles and slow pacing, Leonardo's "strange" and out-of-place second sacrifice)

However, Leonardo's first sacrifice was memorable IMO, and the Splinter/Shredder confrontation was definitely the highlight of the episode and for me one of the best moments in season 1.

In the end, I'll go for "Showdown".

Ooo tough. On one hand I really love "It Came From The Depths". It was a great Mikey episode that introduced us to a great alley. Then again, "Showdown" was also really good. Splinter and Shredder fighting, confirmation that Karai is Miwa...yeah I'm going with "Showdown" on this one.

It's quite easily Showdown for me. There are some flaws in the story, whether they're major or not is debatable, but the Splinter vs Shredder fight is simply astounding IMO.

Yeah! I just think it's awesome that overall his debut episode placed third AND got this far in the tournament!
