[Question] GIF Avatars

I've been seeing a lot of people put GIFs in their avatars. I tried to do it and it didn't work for me. When can you make your avatar a GIF? or am I doing it wrong by uploading it the same way as a normal picture?

Are you doing it on mobile? Because I found that posting gifs doesn't work on IOS

First you'll have to prove that you're worthy of it









... by making sure your GIF is no larger then 115 by 115 pixels or 29.3 KB as stated in the User CP. If your GIF is larger than that (or in the wrong format) it won't work.

If you're resizing a larger GIF to a smaller size make sure the program you're using preserves the animation and color palette (not all program does). Otherwise, just post your GIF here and I'll help you resize it

Are you sure, because I think they just don't show right on mobile. I posted one on my phone and it didn't work right but it worked on my laptop later.

It probably exceeded the file size limitation then, as 29.3 KB is a pretty tight budget for an animated GIF.

Remember it's KB not MB

Are you able to add the same GIF to your sig?
