They're not going to disappear anytime soon but it's a dying format in the way that most people don't consume it so yeah even if say 40% still buy the products it's going to have shelf space but it's only going to shrink more and more. Ten years ago digital was such a small fraction of the market that it barely mattered and now it's most of it. That's why so many films that got DVD releases will never get BR releases sadly.

I try to be critical but didn't really felt compelled to mentionanything about the trailer but here goes.. It looks like a generic transformers rip-off with Power Rangers references, basically my fears all along but I hoped that the final product would actually make it work but that trailer gives me little hope. I'll still watch it and give it a chance, I thought the same about the PD's TMNT and I thought the movie while flawed was alright and doesn't deserve the hate it gets here or on the internet so maybe it'll be the same here, who knows.

did you just not read the rest of that sentence? "to not be limited by the sentai," even the best PR series will often have some form of krutch against it because of the sentai footage it is using. Be it that of Suit design, robot designs or even Body language (Zack/Mammothranger still kills me)

This movie (As well as the Boom! Power rangers to some extent) is the first time the franchise is able to really break from the shackles instead of dancing around it.

Push and Push the series may be known to do when it comes to the footage, but in the end, it is still being held back to some degree.

It's in the same vain as how some fans want "an original series built from the ground up and not using Japanese footage"

I know some of you guys hate any form of negativity shown to your favorite franchise and I understand that, but get over it, even the truest fans can find something they don't like about it and not follow it blindly.

I'm still going to see the movie on a matinee, and I imagine myself to still enjoy it. Will it be the best power rangers thing ever? More than likely not. Will it be the worst? I hope to god not. But again, the future is undecided, let's just see how it turns out.

I don't know the Legacy figures have something off about them, I really wanted them since I wanted to create my personal 5 fav. rangers ina "Once A Ranger" team and a "Tommy" Ranger Team. But buying them is almost impossible for me and the fact that they're not perfect makes me skip the line. But with Zeo and DinoThunder they'd only be missing Turbo Red. Sadly my SHFiguarts collection stopped when I saw Bandai had no intention of ever continuing it.

I currently have most of the Red Ranger SH Figuarts only missing like the last two they released, the entire MMPR team including Green/White. I think I'll sell all the red rangers even if at a loss but might keep SPD Red since he's my favorite. I also think I'll sell all the MMPR Rangers except Green Ranger Tommy.

I don't know why, but I'm kind of getting vibes from the 2015 Fantastic Four movie the more and more I see this.

...which makes sense since that was directed from the dude who did Chronicle and this movie seems to borrow/mirror heavily on a lot of it's story beats.

That Fantastic Four movie was sooooo bad, but it was one that I knew was going to be trash going into it. All of the rumors and stories of the behind the scenes stuff ended up being way more interesting than that movie ended up turning out.

I really do wonder how the box office and the reviews for this Power Rangers movie are going to be.

This movie was directed by Dean Israelite, who directed Almanac. Josh Trank directed Chronicle and Fantastic Four.

Chronicle was pretty good though, albeit rather tragic.
