Here, take my money, Some of it

Not to mention actually physically owning the show. I'd much rather own an actual DVD than relying on online whatever.

ya especially when the online vids get taken down....

:ohwell: I hate that

Hardshell
02-19-2013, 06:38 AM
That's because most of those vids are illegal uploads. The only official ones are on the Nick and YTV websites.

I plan to get this reelase next week now that the show is definitely being released in widescreen.

Preordered. Can't wait to get this! And we get a poster? Sweet!

I bought the season passes on iTunes to keep up with the cartoon on a weekly basis, but in the end nothing beats chilling and watching my favorite shows on a TV screen :)

To those wanting HD, don't forget about itunes and amazon... i recommend itunes because IMO the quality looks better to me.

If a blu-ray set is ever released, count me in. But don't hold your breath guys... it's been discussed at length... Nick is not known for releasing their shows on blu-ray... just take a look at the selection of cartoons on blu-ray and see for yourself.

*sigh* I know. But the thing is, itunes or Amazon video is not available here in southeast asia (It's strictly US/specified countries only). I have no real option except watching it on Nick's channel, which is hard enough as it is to catch it on time.

Am I forsaken here Nick? I'm offering money, but you don't want it? Okay..

Zulithe
02-19-2013, 08:18 AM
I think it is a perfectly legit desire to want the episodes on blu-ray. But we need to organize an effort to show nick there is interest in it otherwise I don't see it happening.

You mean like a poll/petition? I'm all for it, but I'm not sure it'll work.

Did online petition ever work? Never heard it ever did. :(

I will definitely buy this DVD right now. When they eventually make a complete season set, I will get those for my family, and I will keep the individuals with me (or it could be the other way around).:tlol:

BubblyShell22

I think I'm going to wait and get this as a full season set if it only has six episodes. That way I won't have to keep buying more DVDs that'll just take up space. If I buy the full season, it'll be easier for me to have all the episodes and not take up so much space. The 4Kids DVDs were different because I only had a select few I wanted and that was all that was available at the time, but for this, I'm going to wait.

This is scheduled to be released tomorrow here and I'm picking it up for my little guy. I'm not worried if they re-release in bluray or box set as I'd purchase those as well, just due to the fact my little guy will have the DVD worn out by then anyways.
Anyone know what the poster looks like or size of it?

FlawedCoil82
02-26-2013, 12:34 AM
Just picked this up at Wal-Mart. Man, they got like 30 copies in. I hope stores don't order too many copies and then won't buy future releases when they can't sell all of these, then that would hurt the prospect of future releases. Nonetheless, it says it's "full screen" but I am watching it right now and it has the black bars on top and bottom, so that's good. Picture quality looks great. The poster is fairly small, but it is a cool image of the turtles. Kinda wish I could get it in full size and without the creases. The inside of the DVD case spotlights Leonardo, so that leads me to believe the next 3 releases will each feature one of the turtles. Definitely worth picking up for only $10!

And for the people who are waiting for "full season" releases; do you all remember what happened with the 4kids show? There is no guarantee the show will see a full season set. The ONLY "guarantee" there is, is that if enough people don't buy and support these releases, then the show won't get further releases. Corporations don't give a flying rat's patooie about what picky, demanding "all-or-nothing" fans want. They only care about the "almighty dollar" and if they aren't seeing those dollars, then they won't lose one second of sleep pulling the plug on future releases. Sorry, but it's a simple, undeniable fact.

Can some one take a pic of how it looks on the tv with the black bars above and below. Vary curious to see how that looks since I get them on psn and its full screen.

Bought it this morning, was disappointed that it states Full Screen on the cover/DVD but when watching it, it is wide screen. Thought perhaps at first it was my kids bluray player up converting and stretching/zooming, so I tried it out on another and it seems to be WS too,
I'm really disappointed that instead of a poster, there was a TMNT Walmart advertising card with items already out of stock at my local store. it also did not have the nice slip cover either. I should have realized that there was no poster, as there was no sticker as indicated in a previous post. :tcry:
Oh well, my little guy was looking forward to a poster for his room. If anyone sees any for sale in retail, plz let me know.

edit: I do not get black bars at all on a WS TV. It looks the same aspect ratio as it aired/broadcasted on HD TV.

Why is that disappointing?

BubblyShell22
02-26-2013, 01:44 PM
Because they advertised it as fullscreen, and it's actually widescreen. I can see why that would be a problem.

As for me, I don't know if I'll get this or not. I'd rather wait and see if they release a full season set with all of the episodes on it. I'd rather get that as that would be less clutter whereas if I were to get this and the other DVDs as they come out, it would mean more DVDs taking up space.

FlawedCoil82
02-26-2013, 02:33 PM
I still think it is a very bad idea to wait for a full season set, because if the 4Kids show scenario repeats itself, then fans will complain when it don't happen, then they will be hunting down these single releases at massively inflated prices all over again. :trolleye: 'Kung Fu Panda: Legends Of Awesomeness' has been on Nickelodeon for longer than TMNT and that show still hasn't seen a single DVD released yet. TMNT fans should be grateful that we are getting anything and try to support it (but I know when it comes to fandom that is asking for far too much, since us fans are always our own worst enemies).

Don't misunderstand me. I am grateful that they're releasing this on DVD. It's just that if they DO release a full season down the road, I feel that it would be more logical to have all of the eps together instead of getting the individual DVDs that would take up more space than I really have at the moment. But since we don't know if that will happen, the best we can do is either just wait and see or get the DVD anyway. I'm still debating on whether I want to do this or not.

Yeah the TMNT have never had great DVD releases (except for the incomplete half season sets for the 4Kids show). The only thing about this that really bugged me was the "Full Frame" format, but seeing as that's a typo and all eps in widescreen I'm totally happy with the this release. I would probably still buy a season set should one end up coming out. **crosses fingers for blu-ray release** This show looks too good to not have it in high def.

What about the 1987 series box-set? That was done right.

What about the 1987 series box-set? That was done right.

The discs are loosely stuffed into a foam square with no real means of keeping them from getting scratched. That's so far from 'done right'. They didn't even correct the order of the misplaced episodes, nor the fact that some episodes are repeated. Get with it.

Been seeing this at my Wal-mart, and I have to admit - despite my resistance to picking up singles for what's hopefully going to be a long-running series, it is very hard to resist when the thing is only $9.95 or so. And I do want to show support for the show on DVD...

Thankfully, it's worked out nicely now - my girlfriend (who is loving the show just as much as I am) picked up the DVD, and apparently plans to pick up the rest as they come out. So she'll have those and be supporting the release, I'll get the full set for myself if and when it ever comes out. I love a happy ending. :P

I told myself if I saw this for under 10 I'd buy it. Well it was so I did. For one it's a DVD, which is stupid considering it was broadcast in HD. Secondly it's fullscreen. We live in the year 2013. Nothing is made fullscreen anymore. Fullscreen shouldn't even exist. At least it's packaged well and seems to have some special features, though the worth of them remains to be seen. I don't personally consider it being in an old dead screen size special, unless we're talking short buses, but what the hell?

I might note I've only seen the first episode and nothing since so this will be a fresh watch for me.

The only mistake was buying this thing. After one episode I was done. I didn't even finish it. I hit the home button before the end and said "Probably for the better." I don't know how any adults, fans or not, could find something redeeming about it. I actually watched it with someone who has no attachment to TMNT at all and they hated it even more then me asking several times why we hadn't turned it off yet. My favorite thing he said was "If you're going to take **** from anime take **** from good anime." He hated the stupid faces they made and groaned at them even more then I did.

i'm sorry you don't like it. next time i recommend you watch it on tv or online before buying the DVD though.
just to make sure you even like it beforehand.

everyone's tastes are different and even if you hear good things about a show it's best to see it for yourself.

Eh 7 bucks is really nothing. I still have the other episodes to watch. I will probably try but I haven't wanted to turn a show off so bad in a long time. There's movies I don't like with a shorter lists of complaints then I got out of just 20 minutes with this series. For contrast we watched an episode of 2K3 afterward and it validated for me I'm not remembering it wrong and it's much better then this garbage. My friend actually enjoyed it a lot and wants to see more of that series now.

Not sure I can convince him to suffer anymore of this new show with me unless booze is involved. I made up a fun game, take a shot every time something stupid or bad happens. I figure I'd probably be so sh**faced by the end of the first episode I might even start enjoying it.

Bad anime faces isn't goofiness, it's just stupid. Actually it's worse then stupid. It's extremely distracting and pulls me right out. The animation is horrid and pixelated. Even the backgrounds are horrible looking and the low rent After Effects animation in the opening shots was nothing short of pathetic. There's an entire scene done in animatic form which was unbelievable. The roof top running scene looked like an incredibly low rent version of the scene in the TMNT film. By low rent I mean it looks like a 3D animation student's final project. The turtles themselves are detailed enough, I guess, but everyone else looks like ass. Speaking of that the character design is garbage.

The fight scenes were lame. Mikey acts like he was dropped on his head several times. He's like Scrappy Doo and Shaggy mixed into one character. He's annoying and makes all the whoopsies. The humor rarely hits the mark and relies way too much on being spazzy and random. The attempts to pay tribute to the older material falls very flat, maybe even more so then IDW if possible. The theme song is ****ing awful. Most of the dialogue is awful too. The writing is lazy. Most of the voice acting doesn't work for me either. Oddly Leo has the most fitting voice, Rob doesn't work at all as Don for me but that's my fault for growing up with him as another turtle all together.

The show really has no redeeming qualities and outside of being something new that's Ninja Turtles I don't see how anyone outside of it's target age group could enjoy it. It is very clearly made for kids and there's no room for adults on this roller coaster.

I bought the episodes on iTunes and I can watch them on any computer I want, as long as my iTunes is connected to that computer. I myself have a Mac that I got in mid-2011.

I like having the show in my iPhone, even tho I don't ever watch whole episodes.

As for the DVD of the first episodes, I'm waiting for (hopefully) the bluray release of S1 complete in HD.

I could say it's because you're a fanboy despite your claims. I could say your tastes aren't as sophisticated if I really wanted to be rude. More then likely you just want escapism and this show is a sugar cube on the end of a toothpick. Couldn't be more simple. It's eye candy. If you're into that kind of thing awesome but my comment was not meant to say adults won't like it. It was to say there isn't anything for adults in it.

I like it also :3 and I'm an adult :D and I haven't watched any of the movies
(except 2007) and only watched TMNT 2003 (and I watched that from time to time)

Alot of people actually like this show, in fact I'd say the majority does.

but not everyone can....unfortunately. but thats okay :) just watch the 2003 version again if you don't care for this one.

Honestly I think it comes down more to what people like in a show than how old they are. Some people like really solid, interesting stories with plot twists while others care more about the characters' interaction and growth than the actual plot of the show. To me, the 2003 series seems firmly rooted in the former while the Nick series feels more geared toward the latter. I, whether as a kid or now an adult, have always personally preferred the latter. I can forgive plot contrivances or overly goofy humor if I like the characters. I can't, however, enjoy a good plot if I find the characters annoying or flat.

That being said, I like the show because a lot of the dialogue and interactions seem to feel pretty natural. I do not, however, like the 2003 show because the characters just felt too scripted and wooden. Do I think the Nick show has a more interesting overall plot so far? No - plot-wise, I can see why people like the 2003 version so much. I really wanted to like it for that reason. But that didn't change the fact that I didn't care for the way the characters were written, and in the end, that's just what I've always been more drawn to.

I have no problems with people not liking the Nick series - it's not for everyone. I also have no problems with people enjoying the 2003 series, which I personally don't care for - it's also not for everyone. But I don't really get the age argument when that doesn't really have anything to do with it. I mean, a close friend of mine loves children's picture books, and she's easily one of the most mature people I know. People like what they like.

I guess that's all one big roundabout way of saying that I respect your opinion, but I wish you would have sounded less condescending when giving it (but then this IS the internet, lol).

For the record, it took me a good four episodes before I could finally wrap my brain around the fact that Rob Paulson was now Donatello - that was really jarring for me at first, I admit, and can easily see why it'd be off-putting.

The difference is we're on a TMNT fandom where most people enjoy most incarnations. Before Nick, the 2003 show was the first time the Turtles had a new cartoon since the original ended. It was a big deal for that reason, we never thought we'd get a new TMNT cartoon back then.

Ok, but I'm not entirely sure I see your point? I mean, I DO enjoy most incarnations that I've seen, otherwise I wouldn't be here, lol. I remember being excited back when the 2003 show first aired - I grew up on the OT/movies/Next Mutation, so I was one of those looking forward to a new version - so I get that, but I'm not entirely sure how this applies to what I said...? Oh please. Your opinions are not facts.

Never said they were. Though nothing is really fact anymore when the internet is involved. There's always someone who will refute even the most ironclad bits of truth despite mountains of evidence to say otherwise. I blame everyone being raised to believe that they have a valid opinion regardless of what is being discussed and if they choose to believe the sky is pink they're allowed to because it's "their opinion". I call it the "I refuse to admit I'm wrong so I'll just hide behind a BS excuse" method but most people on the internet these days are equipped with logic armor so that doesn't surprise me.

I do however find it interesting that if you like something yet can't really explain it beyond basic terms such as "I like it" or "It's funny" that's acceptable. However if you dislike something, no matter how complex or on the nose your critique is, you're wrong and most of your valid arguments are ignored. One could say no one asked to hear them to begin with, to which I could flip that onto the positives, but my counter argument to that is we're on a discussion board and the purpose is to discuss things. That being said not everyone here is required to like everything. Being a fan does not mean you have to accept what is presented with a smile. If we were here to jerk off turtles endlessly this would be a different kind of message board that lurks in a deep dark part of the internet I care not to venture.

Spitfire has had a vendetta against the entire TMNT franchise since the sale to Viacom. He says he wants serious TMNT yet he doesn't like the IDW comics either. He just seems really burned out on the franchise and should probably take a break.
Well you're not entirely wrong though I can say I haven't watched or read anything turtles since the first episode of this new show aired. I guess the break wasn't long enough. Actually I take that back I showed my girlfriend SOTO so yeah there is that. Truth be told it's not so much a vendetta it's just an evolving of taste and a change in interests. The stories I enjoyed for these characters have been told and repackaging them in a way that isn't as good as the originals to me is something I don't care to see.

That is an opinion yes but like someone who cries foul when a remake pops up it seems excessive and unnecessary. I don't demand we re-release the old stuff endlessly because it's stronger but continuing on from it would have been a better option. But as a Ultimate Marvel fan that makes me sound like a massive hypocrite. I get why they're doing what they did but this new Turtles is not for me. That isn't to say I won't continue to attempt it because like a masochistic Star Wars fan who keeps watching the prequel movies trying to convince themselves they're not a massive pile of garbage I find myself in an awkward place where my favorite franchise of all time has stopped entertaining me. It's tragic, to me anyways, but it happens.

And that's why I post here. Among people I have one thing in common with, a love of Turtles. Some will understand, some won't, but I have no where else to vent my nerdy frustrations. Anyone else I know would look at me blankly as if I was speaking a foreign language or trying to explain the plot of an overly complex anime to them. So if my sometimes overly crass criticisms filled with extremely unnecessary dramatic flare, usually depending on my mood, offend you I apologize. I'm deep down just here for discussion and I do have fun discussing turtles regardless of my opinions on it. I've been here almost 10 years and it would feel weird to cut that out at this point.

I mean, that's not true just from the sheer number of call-backs to the '80s cartoon, Mirage comics and pop-culture references like Leo's Filmation-style cartoons most kids would never pick up on. The show knows that in addition to parents, it has a small adult fanbase it can cater to from time to time, as has been the norm for comic-based shows for about the last ten years.

Now, if you really want to say it doesn't offer anything for an adult viewer, Turtles-fandom aside, I'd say that's probably true. But the same holds true for the 4Kids series and any number of other comic-based action shows. If you're an average adult viewer looking for a show that doesn't have to censor itself to go into cold, then move along, nothing to see here. I would never tell anyone to watch this, or any Turtles show, or hell, any kids' action show if they weren't already familiar with the franchise and all right with the idea of watching something aimed at children.

But if you're already comfortable dealing with the tropes and standards of kids' shows? (And we are, right? Is there no dissension on that? Did you stick around through the 2003 series?) Then this stands pretty tall among its contemporaries and predecessors.

Tl;dr, what you said isn't untrue, but it applies to the previous series and most in its genre as well.

Actually I take that back I showed my girlfriend SOTO so yeah there is that.
Also, woah, woah. Let's not apply those standards to the current cartoon and then go on to justify enjoying Secret of the Ooze on anything other than a level of pure nostalgia.

I'm sure I thought that the OT and the movies were hilarious when I was 6, but they're pretty awful. Maybe in 30 years I'll look back and think the Nick series is terrible, but I doubt it. Can't wait to watch the DVD soon. I have been busy all week, it's exhausting.:tsleep:

Anyway, as an adult, I really enjoy this show. Yes, I hate anime faces and emoticons, but apparently, I like how's it's used on the show. Emoticons look so much better in CGI. Every time I saw it in a 2-D animated show (e.g. Ultimate Spider-man), it took away some certain essence of the cartoon, but mostly, they just looked completely disgusting.:tsick: I was worried that 2k12 TMNT would do the same. I was wrong. I think it has worked, especially if they are done in the right moments. Besides, the creators are smart enough not to overdo it.:tgrin:

Besides, I don't think the dialogue is awful at all. In fact, it's very snappy. I like it. It just shows that the turtles don't always take anything too seriously, but still do well at their jobs. I'm good with that.:tcool: The writers have their low points, but by the majority, their work isn't really lazy. The theme song is fun, too. Sometimes, I have to be in the mood for it, but it's tolerable.

To Spitfire - It's okay to hate the show. If you don't like it, that's fine. There are certain things I hate that others love, but I'm not going to change their minds. Neither can you change ours. I don't like the 2k3 series or IDW comics, but I'm never going to stop fans from watching/reading them. They like it? Okay. I don't have to. Maybe I can understand what you don't like about it. Still, I look for the good things. Not everything has to be deep or have a hidden message to everything. It's Ciro Nieli, not Chirstopher Nolan. Plus, what did you expect from a kid's show? Gore? We don't always need to have people die to make a movie or television show great. Not every formula has to be used. I think it's best to take off our "Dark" and "Edgy" glasses sometimes, so we can just enjoy it. I have fun for what it is.

A few years will go by, and I think I will be putting this as one of my favorite comic book superhero cartoons since the '90s Batman animated series. Watching each episode brings a smile to my face, and sure beats out other shows on Nickelodeon right now. I don't know about you, but it's time we actually have a TMNT marathon soon.:twink: Funny how I am one of the people of the old generation, and I like something for the new one.:tcool:

I've never been a positive person. I'm cynical. But it's nice to see something on the funny side. Besides it's a kids show, so it can only go so far. I know not everyone is going to like it. I'm tempted to reply to each of you as I have before but two things ring out for me here. What Cybercubed said "Needs a break" and Bauer536 who said "You won't convince anyone to stop watching."

The first quote is probably true though I feel no break will help. My tastes are different and watching this as a 4 year old, like I did SOTO, allows for nostalgia to smear over a few issues. Though in SOTO's defense it has stellar production value, a great voice cast, and good fight scenes regardless of the lack of weapons. I can call my liking of the writing nostalgia but not everything. Especially when I've shown countless non-fans the film and all of them enjoyed it as much as I have. I even heard it cited as a favorite movie in several of my films classes by people who aren't even big TMNT fans. This validates my stance for me that the movie holds up just fine. It leaves me with a good feeling after watching and clearly it does that for others too.

But I am a filmmaker by trade so I pay attention to different things when watching movies and shows then non-filmmakers do. Same applies to writing. Though the deeper I get into writing the less I enjoy certain things, like Nolan's Batman trilogy for example, SOTO has never raised any apparent red flags. I think why it doesn't and this show does is SOTO isn't trying too hard. SOTO is just being what it was. Embracing the more humorous side of the series and doing so decently. Like I'm sure someone out there finds TMNT 3 funny everyone I've showed SOTO has laughed at it's jokes, even my Dad who is harder to make laugh then an emotionless brick, when it comes to movies anyways.

But back to my earlier point this new series, and the IDW comic, is trying so hard to jerk off every part of the franchise that it lacks focus. It also does so in an insulting manner. Constantly parading around Kevin Eastman to let us know "It's legit". Like the opinion of a man who sold his half of the franchise over a decade ago to go do something else matters. Also a man whose solo TMNT stories were seriously lacking. I love the guy but him liking everything the people paying him to work on make isn't going to sway me. Plus he said that TMNT script that was more painful to read then jamming needles into your eyes was the best TMNT thing ever. Case and point.

Anyway the new series clearly wants to be rooted in the OT but then it tries to give us throw backs to the comics or the movies and it falls flat for me because they don't all mesh. It's actually my main issue with the first film. It tries to balance the OT goofiness with the comic book and those things just don't work together. Course the first movie still excels as a good overall experience as to where this doesn't for me.

As I said before quality is a huge part of things for me now and like a pretentious guitar player I can't help but notice flaws in someone else's "performance". If this show had say high production value then I could maybe excuse some of the more annoying bits. But it doesn't and there is no arguing that. Liking the designs aside my complaints about the animation are valid and if they don't bother you that's okay. To me I see this show looking like Reboot does to us now in about 10 years. I know it's TV and doesn't have the budget of Pixar but then it shouldn't be CG if they can't afford it. 2K3 looks stellar and is very well animated. Because of that I can look past some of the issues it had. Though I think overall the writing in 2K3 is a lot stronger.

This is all moot though as Bauer536 stated I won't change any minds but I'm also not trying to. I'm just discussing and I'm glad to see you all participating in a civil manner.

My opinion is I find the 2k3 animation lacking in actual dimension and paint job. To me, it's not on par, artistically, with shows like Batman: The Animated Series. Still, you like it for what it was, I like what 2k12 for what is so far.:twink:

10 years after the 2k12 series, I have a feeling I will enjoy watching it, especially if I have any kids. Plus, years ago was when Reboot was released, and I still enjoy watching it. I don't care if it was made in the '90s. That show is a lot of fun in my family.:tcool: Brings back great memories.

actually...even with some little mistakes that happen :D I prefer it in CG more than 2D.
IDK...it just works XD I like the fact that I can watch an episode 10 times and still find something cool that I didn't notice before.
I'm also sure as the seasons go by those little mistakes will be fewer and fewer :D

I did watch quite a few episodes of this new show and then gave up on it...

I just...I'm not a fan of the cgi style, the fact that the turtles look like they're 10 years old and yet Splinter is a giant (Splinter, if you're that giant and spry then why are you sending 10 year-old looking turtles out there instead of just doing it yourself), I'm not a fan of the creatures/villains or the stories, and this voice cast is without a doubt my least favorite of the franchise.

I absolutely hate Mikey's voice in this (was never a fan of Beast Boy in Teen Titans), hearing Rob Paulsen as Donny is just awkward, Biggs is alright..

And Sean Astin...no...just no...I can see Sean Astin as the voice of Leonardo (hey, he led the Goonies, why not the Turtles)...but not as Raphael. Being a huge fan of Raphael...I just don't like this take on the character.

Whether they want more of a wisecracker like the original or more of a tough one like other incarnations, or the blending of both...to me it just doesn't work.

To me Astin works well in stuff like The Goonies or Rudy...not in this.

And I'm sorry, to me Raphael is tough. Yes...to me Rob Paulsen did sound much tougher in the original toon than Astin (especially in the first 5 episodes of the original toon).

And when I hear Sean Astin's voice in these episodes...tough is the last word I think of...and that's nothing against Sean Astin. I love stuff he did like Toy Soldiers and even Encino Man.

But to me, (JUST to me, so don't get angry or mad or try to start some fight or anything..I already KNOW I'm in the minority in all of this)..it's almost like watching a weak, neutered Raphael with his pet turtle. But that's just me, in my opinion.

And getting back to the topic...I would still like to see if they actually do complete seasons DVD sets...or will they continue doing this '5-6 episode per DVD' stuff like 4kids did (which was about 3 or 4 per DVD when they started..until a long time after they did that 'season 1 part 1, season 1 part 2' stuff.)

Why do I care? Because I'd still like to buy the season 1 set of this show...and try to get back into this show as well as give it more of a Fair chance.

I love the Turtles, I've been lucky to collect all of the original toon DVDs as well as the 2003 series on DVD...and I want to like this show..so I want to be Fair. But so far...it's honestly done nothing for me.

Those who have seen more of the show than me, you can feel free to leave feedback. Again, this is just my opinion.

This voice cast has really grown on me. (opinions to follow)

There are distinctions between Rob's Raph and his Donnie. It may be just his own voice, but the delivery is still quite a bit different. Where Raph was more snarky and confident, there's a hint of nervousness in his Donatello's voice.

Astin's Raph is just fine, in my opinion. It's less the stereotypical New York voice EVERYONE (save Rob) does for him and more a smart mouthed teen who has mild anger issues.

Cype's Mikey is very lovable, if a bit goofy, and you can see him growing up...even if it's just a little here and there.

Biggs as Leo has the luxury of playing my favorite take on him. I like that this Leo is less sure of himself and his role model is a cheap Captain Kirk knock-off.

The voice cast is excellent. Then again the voice cast for all 3 TMNT cartoons have been excellent.

I got to ask you two questions because I've been wondering.

1. How old are you?
2. Is this your first turtles show?

No offense meant I'm just curious because you have too much optimism to be a long time fan. Not a bad thing mind I think it's great.

Yes she's a new fan.

I don't see what that has to do with anything though, most of us original fans think the voice cast and the chemistry between the Turtles is great.

Well I saw her all excited for the new game too. That shocked me more then the like of the series. I know my distaste for this is in the minority but the like for that is as well.

This is certainly my favorite cast, too.

For me its a tie between this VA cast and the original cartoon.

I liked the 4kids Turtle VA's too, except when they had Wayne Grayson overreact all his Michelangelo lines from like the tail-end of Season 2 till the en dof the show.

2)..no...I watched TMNT 2003 and loved it!! and saw the 2007 movie....but thats about it XD (I really wanna see the first movies, I heard the ninja rap song and liked it!)

I saw some TMNT 80's moments and thought they were pretty funny :)

I just like being positive...or maybe I just don't get annoyed by things easily.... IDK :D

I like the voice actors personally. Big fan of Greg Cipes. It was strange to see one of the guys from the original toon come back to do another character, but Rob does a good job as Donnie. Surprised to learn that Biggs would be the voice of Leo, but again I've been impressed. Love Sean as Raph.
There's been a voice actor (not in this series) that I've been annoyed by. And I don't like the character either. Just rubs me the wrong way. :tgrumble:

That's cool...I knew I'd be alone in my opinions on the voice cast, but there's nothing wrong with that. Just, to me Greg Cipes is like nails on a chalkboard, and Astin...I'm not sure if it's Just the voice, or how they're handling his character in this show...

Although now that i think about it...it is kind of weird:

*Movie 1, Raph gets beat up and thrown thru the skylight
*Movie 2, Raph gets captured
*CGI film, (Most would say) Leo went easy on his & Raph's fight...plus letting Leo get captured (although I still hate Leo in that flick...he did the same thing in the jungle that Raph did in the city! sorry...lol i'm calm)
*2003 cartoon, Raph is getting beat up while blind and a little kid has to help him
*The comic book series where Raph becomes head of the Foot
*New show, gets humiliated by brothers for a temper tantrum, and then they pick on him because he has a phobia

Damn...I guess Raph, although many times gets more screen time as well as my being my favorite...he kinda either fails a lot or has a losing streak...

Anyway, I hope they do come out with a season 1 set (like I said before)...I would still like to give this another shot. Most love this show to death and...maybe giving it another shot will let me know as to why it's loved so much

I'm not really big with Itunes, I'd rather watch them on DVD on my TV...yes I know, I'm weird like that.

Hey the deeper you go and the longer you go the more disappointment you suffer. There was several times they blue balled fans with stuff we were basically willing to throw our money at. What's that meme "Take my money now." NECA figures, Forever War, even Playmates Volume 4 style turtles, DVD releases, Turtles Forever theatrical release*Had pre-order tickets for that one*, animated film of the first comic, and the list goes on. Course this happened under Laird's rule but it's clear Viacom has no intention of correcting this. Though the HC collections are one very positive thing that came from the buyout.

If we're going to go that route, I'm a writer too. (Or at least I do it seriously enough, often enough and at high enough a level to consider it more than just a hobby.) Comic book franchises are like my junk-food fiction. Most of the writing I enjoy outside that realm is subversive short stories, my movie taste skews more Criterion Collection than summer blockbuster, etc. And, much as I like The Dark Knight, you don't have to tell me twice that Nolan has a serious problem with unbelievable plot points and thematically transparent dialogue.

So, as far as possible without swapping reading/viewing lists, let me validate for you that not everyone enjoying the Nick show is doing so because they're easily pleased or like lowest-common-denominator fiction. I agree that it's not the kind of thing I'd point an average, adult viewer to. But if you're comfortable with the premise?

Then I think it's a lot more honest with its tone and clever in its approach things like Secret of the Ooze. The Nick show is genuine, candy-coated, character-driven fun that I think really does well given its constraints. It's "TMNT: For Kids" in the same way the previous three shows and four movies were also "TMNT: For Kids." But I think there's a strong case for it being the most successful and all-age-pleasing in that approach.

I don't know why I felt compelled to respond to that. Just to discuss, I guess.

I also agree that the voice cast is awesome. I think they each lend something different to the characters. Biggs can make Leo go from dorky to badass when the situation calls for it, Astin makes Raph sound both tough and gentle when he needs to, Rob is doing great as Donnie by making him not only nervous at times but also stressed when under pressure, and Cipes makes Mikey sound compassionate and adorable. They all rock.

Just watched the whole "Rise of the Turtles" DVD! Awesome!:tgrin:

Anyway, my only complaint were the special features "Mutation of a Scene." They showed you a scene where it starts with a storyboard, CGI test, and the final version. That was cool.:tcool: However, it felt more like "Mutation of SCENES." Now and then, I felt like that they didn't know when to end. After the process was shown, they showed the whole scene all over again from the episode. Really? What are we, the Teletubbies? Once the mutation of the scene was over, the feature should have just ended there.:trolleye: That probably explains why only three episodes don't have the theme song.

I'm still getting the next DVD, though. I can't wait for that.:tsmile:

I'm hoping when they release the full season on DVD it will have more extras.

I don't know if the UK got less than the US but on ours' it just had the mutation of one scene. Plus the Leo mask.

It's probably only because Nick was in such a rush to get some form of DVD/merch out to the public but I'll be expecting a lot more with the full season. Interviews, behind the scenes etc.
